  1. For the money, Muzzy MX-3s are the best I've used. They're about $23 for 3. Other than that, I love the Montecs...one piece of ridiculously sharp steel, and they fly like a dream. I'm partial to fixed blades, but if I were to go to mechanicals, I'd use the new G5 T3s. God bless, Ryan
  2. The first thing I thought of is that it will hopefully fit you better than the youth bow. The speed, though it won't be an enormous difference, will be a really pleasant surprise, and will make you feel so much more confident out 30-50 yards. Sounds like you'll be in business! God bless, Ryan
  3. That's very cool...Just turned the computer to show the wife :-) I may use that idea at some point! God bless, Ryan
  4. Sweet! Congrats on the new stick 'n' string, Bud! I used to shoot Hoyt, and I loved them. When I got my new one last year, I liked both the new Hoyts and new Mathews, and ended up with the Mathews. But when I get a new one in a few years, I'll definitely shoot both again. Have to agree with RangerClay though...Let's see it! God bless, Ryan
  5. Scout and hunt for deer, and if a turkey walks by, I'll try to stick it from the treestand :-) Like was already said, I should practice my calling more, but I'll read articles and pretty much wait for March... If you don't deer hunt, you should do some fall turkey hunting! Never done it, but it sounds like a whole new game...seems like it'd be fun! God bless, Ryan
  6. Just one this year boys and girls... Hope everyone had a safe and fun season :-) God bless, Ryan
  7. Plain Jane Remington 870 12 ga...It's how I was raised! God bless, Ryan
  8. I had/have the exact same problem, and this is what I do. I lower, and I also practice doing a lot of the things everyone has said. In the winter, I shot in my attic at about 5 yards, and simply practiced holding on the spot I wanted to hit for at least a few seconds longer than normal, just to get used to the pin being in the "bullseye." Keep practicing, and it'll get better... Everyone feels your pain! Take care, Ryan
  9. Pretty impressive if you ask me...77 yards is a poke!
  10. I dipped them in a glass at a bit of an angle, but not much. It says to dip them at an angle, but I agree with redkneck about the spacing thing. I shot them a few minutes ago and didn't notice much of a variance between the ones that were fine and the ones that were a little off, but I wasn't shooting very far shots. We'll have to see what happens out at 40 yards and longer. Thanks for the replies... I agree with pretty much everything that's been said. I'll give them a "shot" and may just rip them off and get a jig.
  11. I fletched 6 arrows last night with NAP QuikFletch shrinking wraps/vanes, and only 3 of them really look perfect to me as far as the vanes being spread equally around the arrow. The others have two vanes that are noticably closer together. They do have about a 3 degree offset, so hopefully that helps even things out... Should I be concerned about this? I'm really picky about fletchings and how my arrows are built, so it bugs me, and I'll probably contact the manufacturer, but will these arrows still fly ok? Your thoughts are appreciated! Take care, Ryan
  12. Gamehide "HushHide" is really nice, as well. I have a pair of pants and jacket, and it's silent...I use it for turkey hunting(that's how quiet it is)! It's water resistant, too. Take care, Ryan

  14. Well I learned that the NAP Twisters are built with a right offset (I guess that's what Tink already said), so no worries! I picked some up and am putting them on tonight. I'll report back with any really good or bad results. Thanks, Ryan
  15. Thanks for the advice! I'm still curious...are you saying these particular EZ Fletch Twister and Blazer vanes are naturally offset, in which case I wouldn't have to worry about twisting them after pulling out of the water? If not, how do I make them offset instead of helical, and how do I make it consistent? I want spin, and definitely don't want them to be straight. Thanks, Ryan
  16. I'm thinking about buying some of the EZ Fletch Blazers or NAP Twisters, and they say you can put a helical on your arrow after you take them out of the hot water. How do you know how much of a helical you're putting on it, and how do you keep it consistent with all of your arrows? Thanks, Ryan
  17. I've got Blazers on some of my newer arrows, and am needing to replace fletchings on some of the older ones. I shoot Gold Tip XT Hunters. Which will give me better spin...Blazers with a 3 or 4 degree helical or the NAP EasyFletch 2" Quickspins? I shoot 60 lbs. with a Hoyt ViperTec if that helps. Thanks a lot! Take care, Ryan
  18. I've been trying to get this insert out that I want to replace, and I'm having no luck. Does anyone have any tricks to get them loose? Thanks! Take care, Ryan

That's an awesome story! Thanks for sharing! Great deer, and I may have to say that your friends were spot on in saying that you were crazy! Just kidding...just depends on what kind of deer are around there. Most places you would be crazy not to take him, but it sounds like you have a good grasp of the deer in your area. Congrats on a great deer and story...especially with primitive equipment! Take care, Ryan
  20. This was kinda good for a laugh... I actually appreciate it when people put that in their posts. It almost just lets everyone know that you have some humility and don't think you're always right...it's refreshing I guess to come on here where most everyone is like that! That's why I like this site :-) Just try to be an optimist.. Take care, Ryan
  21. Congrats on a great reward for some hard work! Awesome deer!
  22. Definitely a good call...thanks for reminding everyone. Hope everything works out for you and you get your own place soon! Take care, Ryan PS-Your time will come with your son, and you'll have a blast!
  23. Shot a doe during the first IL shotgun season, but obviously won't enter her in the contest. Just checking in...hope things start picking up for everyone. Sounds like they're not moving as well as we'd like around the country. The other place where I hunt has two or three giants roaming around, so I may be able to beat my previous score. Hope everyone is safe and had a happy Thanksgiving! Take care, Ryan
  24. Hey Man...great story! Glad to get to hear it over the phone and see the deer in person! I know this guy, folks...he's my best friend and huntin' partner, and he's as "by the book" as they come, along with his dad. They're very ethical hunters, and I don't think there's any question that the other deer would have died of exhaustion if it had eventually gotten away. Hunter did the right thing in this case by shooting the live deer and taking it straight to the taxidermist! Just to clear something up, and I'm not saying anyone is accusing anyone else of anything, but the hunter in this case is not bragging about harvesting both deer, being a masterful hunter, or taking credit for much at all...just being lucky. Like someone said, it's unfortunate, but it happened, and the hunters, along with myself, feel very fortunate to have seen and been a part of it. Awesome thing to witness..congrats Bud! Take care, Ryan Take care, Ryan
  25. Have to be a "great wall!" Nice picture! Good luck with the Tinks..been using it for a while now... Ryan
