  3. Very nice bird! Congrats!!!
  4. Ill tell ya, last Friday dad and I went out to see if we could roost one the day before the season opened. Didn't hear a thing! I was almost not going to go the next day! But I am glad I did! I heard more gobbling than ever! They were there the night before, just being quite. Just because you don't hear anything, doesn't mean they are not around!
  5. Babe - Styx That should be mine also, but I have 3900 tunes in my iPod.
  6. Thanks all! I still wish this bird got in front of my father! Happy even still!
  7. Congrats! Riding the storm out! Hmmmm, sounds like a song! LOL!
  8. Well, it finally happened! Only took seven years!!! Got to our hunting area about an hour before sunrise. Dad got settled in his blind, I stayed out along the ridge top. As daylight got stronger the woods came alive with the sounds of gobbles! Not knowing which way to turn I waited a bit and just called every now and then and listened to all the gobbling! I caught a glimpse of a few hunters making their way below me, then some got too close for my liking, time to move. By now its about 7:30AM, I radio to dad to check in with him. I start heading his way stopping every now and then to call. I get a response! Hoping that I might get my father in between me and the gobbler, but I really don't know where about my dad is! By now, I am crawling on the ground trying to get this bird to commit to us, I hear dad calling now. But afraid to move anymore without bumping this bird! I sit. Every time I call, he gobbles! I purr, he gobbles! I cluck, he gobbles! Finally I shut up, realizing that this bird is not moving any closer to us! It works! But he moved up closer to me! Now I see him walking about below me, strutting like crazy, but out of range for me and my dad! Not sure what this bird was going to do, I purred a few more times, he never gobbled, but started walking towards me. At 35-40 yards, I dropped the hammer. Aimed my 835 right where I know the Comp-N-Choke XXX Full and Winchester Supreme #6's will hit! He drops flat to the ground! Then a little bit of Eddie Salter flies out of my mouth in one of his calls he makes after shooting a turkey! LOL!!! 17 pounds 3 ounces, 3/4" spurs on both sides, 9 7/8" beard. 17.1875 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 19.75 = 51.9375
  9. Got one!!! This is my first spring gobbler as well, and a good one to boot! :gunsmilie: I need to get my fathers signature for my witness, then Ill post my bird in the contest side. Your score is 17.1875 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 19.75 = 51.9375
  10. LOL! But officer, my house is my blind! LOL!!!
  11. I went through two types of background checks the school needs for a parent to be allowed as a chaperon. We left at 6AM, as usual the kids were complaining about getting up so early! LOL! I was so glad I had my iPod along. We got to the Lincoln Memorial first. These pictures were taken by myself and my daughter. From here we had a great view of the Washington Monument. Take notice of the two women trying to hold up the Monument in the lower left side! LOL! From there we went unto the Korean War Memorial. Then over to the Vietnam War Memorial. I had assignments to do here with the kids, so only one picture was taken by me. They had to find their name they looked up on the internet. On our way to the WWII Memorial. The WWII Memorial. The Field Of Stars represents over 400,000 lives lost during the war. From there we walked over to the National History Museum. But I was so glad I bought this first aid kit to take along! An 84 year old women was struck by a segway tour, she had a nasty bump on her forehead and was bleeding. I proceeded to apply first aid to her, this guy, who was a special agent, (I heard him say this on his cell.) dialed 911. Once the ambulance came I left, she will be fine. So I did my good deed in DC! Here is a picture of the rotunda inside the museum.
  12. If your still fishing ice, I would try small minnows on tipup's. Also, you can try jigging small spoons, kastmaters, jigs tipped with wax worms, mouses, or maggots.
  13. I am sitting here loading about 15 gigs of tunes as I type this! Being my first MP3 player, I researched this about three weeks before deciding on the Ipod 16 gig Nano. I have listened to the FM tuner as soon as I opened the box, which sounds awesome! I can only get about 2/3's of my total music library on this player. To get all of my tunes would require a 32 gig player. But if I play all of the Nano's tunes non-stop, the player will play for 11.2 days! LOL! :gunsmilie:
  14. Get well soon!!! Prayers to you Dakota!!!
  15. Ok, now your admitting that your selling the plans for $5 a piece! You don't even have the time in here or probably the ok from Realtree! I smell a banning! Somebody better get Swampy in here quick!!! LOL!!!
  16. Apparently your not getting the jist of what this FORUM is about! Tell us your idea in a post, why should somebody have to send you a PM, only to get another PM back with instructions! There are still a few bowhunters shooting metal shafts. Share your idea openly! Besides, your a new member, nobody knows you yet. So I think some of us might not send that PM you want. Want to make some brownie points, post your idea! BTW! Welcome to the forums!!!
  17. Wow, must be a real pain to carry in that generator and all that gasoline to keep it running! LOL!!! Not that the deer will mind all that noise and smell! LOL!!!
  18. At one time I was logging in and posting on 15 different forums. Now, only three get any attention, this being one of them. Some of them have too much BS with them, too many little clicks and groups within groups. Too many people that I found out to be a fake, or making them something they never were. Funny, people that need to blow up their image, to make them feel good about themselves I have no time for.
