  1. That's my brothers' bird. He was huge. He was having a pretty tough season up until he got him.
  2. I wish I would have known about that. My daughter needs some new hunting boots and I'm sure I could find something I needed. I live across the river in MO so it's not too long of a drive.
  3. I used some three blades last year and didn't think they were that great. Flew OK but not like field points, blades were kind of flimsy and opened too easy, and the one I shot a deer with was ruined (bone hit). It did leave a huge hole though.

    Antler growth?

There are several around here with 3-6" of growth around here. There have been several with that much hit on the highway sadly.
  5. I just submitted my jake everybody. I would have earlier but my computer died for a while and my pics were on my brothers camera because my camera died too.

    $3.75

I switched from a V8 car to my Ford Ranger with 3.0 V6 when gas was still pretty cheap. I'm glad I did but I hoped to eventually upgrade to a bigger truck. Now I doubt I'll ever be able to afford to.
  8. To heck with proof. Go beat that kid with a stick.

    Check your neck

I guess I'm a mix of both. That's not surprising where I'm from though.
  10. I killed one with spikes about 3/4 that size. That one is quite big though. My dad told that years ago he saw one that had two long spikes that were about as big around as his wrist but could never get a shot.
  11. I'll probably be there seeing as it is only five miles from home. Unless I take my niece turkey hunting that morning, then I might just need a nap in the afternoon. Oh well I'll just show up a little late.
  12. I'm doing pretty good keeping myself occupied fishing and turkey hunting but after turkey season is over deer will be the main thing on my mind.

    Earthquake

In the words of my daughter, "We're all gonna die!" She loves being dramatic. Ever since I found out about the New Madrid fault line and the huge quakes that hit in the 1800's I thought, "It's been a long time since then, that could happen again at any time." This time it wasn't New Madrid but it just as easily could have been. I'm just not used to this stuff happening here.
  14. It took me a while to figure out what it was and even then I kept doubting it. So I just made sure to remember what time it was. Not long after on the local morning news they told about the earthquake and what time it happened. "I was right!", was the first thing I thought. Crazy stuff.
  15. They are not needed for field points. Some broadheads need them and some don't. Shouldn't need them for Muzzy but any broadhead that uses the end of the shaft to hold the blades in should use an adapter. I would also use an adapter for mechanicals that the blades can come back and contact the arrow.
  16. A CAP Lore on one bow and a Doinker Carbon Elite 7" on the other. A good stabilizer will help you shoot better especially at longer distances. If I didn't hunt out of a blind I would have even longer stabilizers.
  17. We very seldom find any sheds around here. I think part of the problem is we have billions of squirrels and they chew them up before we have a chance to find them. The few we have found have been chewed on. Nice haul by the way.
  18. My brother went out this weekend and even though he got out late he only heard four birds and none even on the place. This coming weekend is the youth season and it is supposed to be cold. They are even talking about a possibility of snow on Saturday morning. I have a feeling I may not get to hunt by myself this season and if I do it will be at the end of the season. Good luck peoples.
  19. Thanks for the congratulations everybody. He is a great buck. Congrats to everyone who scored in the contest and to those who didn't, good luck next year. Oh and good luck for turkey season too. I'm really anxious to get back out in the woods. Later.
  20. The bullet looks like it was pulled, the powder taken out, and the bullet put back in. You can see marks on the bullet I think from pliers. Thanks everybody. I went and looked and yes it looks just like the 8x50R Lebel.
  21. I just found an empty .30-06 case and slipped it over the end and it almost fit all the way down the bullet, maybe 1/16" short. So ya it is about .30 caliber. I have never seen a .303 Savage before so I don't know.
  22. Can anyone tell what me what these pistol shells are? I'm talking about the four to the left of the rifle shell. They look like they are about .44 or .45 caliber and they are rim fire.
  23. Can anyone tell what kind of rifle shell this is on the far right?
  24. The only thing I would think would cause something like that would be vane contact. It could be contact with the arrow rest or with your cables. If it's not one of those then I have no clue.
  25. Well it sounds like I'm from the same area as toddyboman. I will be mostly hunting in Lewis county and maybe a little in Marion. We also have a family farm with plenty of birds. Hopefully I get some time to hunt myself. Between my daughter and nieces I usually end up with a hunting partner. I guess I'll just have to call in several birds. Good luck everybody.
