i have it easy. the wyoming law says anyone seeing a dog chase a deer SHOULD shoot it, not may shoot it. the game wardens simply open fire, and so do i. the deer have it rough enough in the winter, so i'm protecting my future. i now only spend a month or 2 in wyoming, and am an alaska resident, but i still carry my gun.

i'm about a zero on whitetails, but know a little about mule deer, elk & antelope. let me know what i can do to help you with western hunting.

well, sorry it didn't work out for next year. i do know there are plenty of bears and if one hunts hard, he'll have a good chance. i think dogdoc will be coming up in 2016. we'll see

last saturday, my son in law jeff wanted to go deer hunting. so, we went over to the black hills on public land for whitetais. by 8:30 am we had a bice 8 point in the truck headed home. well, i'm not much on eating deer. but, all i;ve ever had was mule deer. well, whitetail is pretty good. we had backstraps last night. not as good as elk, but just as good as antelope, and waaaay ahead of mule deer. so, when i go back to alaska in february i'll have a freezer full of elk AND some deer. pretty cool. and all i'm leaving here are crabs, shrimp, halibut salmon, red snapper...... lol

i think martin had it correct. stick to things from your area. if the deer are not accustomed to eating alfalfa, don't bait them with alfalfa. how about a nice pile of acorns, if acorns are what they are used to eating?
