  1. Rock River LAR-15 A4 with the 18 inch stainless bull barrel and a LaRue Tactical quad rail foregrip. Topped it off with a Zeiss 3x9. Came with a case and two 30 round mags and four 20 round mags. Here it is before the Zeiss:
  2. I'm still around. Busier than a one armed paper hanger right now. But I did find time to buy myself a new AR the other day. Take that all you PETA loving gun banners! :gunsmilie:
  3. I fish both border lakes - Falcon and Amistad - regularly. In fact I just fished Amistad over the Memorial Day weekend. I have never felt uncomfortable or threatened, even while fishing Mexican waters. As of now, things seem to have calmed down. The so called pirates were actually members of the Zetas who were run out of one of the border towns when the Mexican military moved in. Apparently they tried a little free lance pirating to scrape by until they figured out something a bit more lucrative. There is currently a heavy Border Patrol / Coast Guard / Wildlife Department presence on the water.
  4. Yep, it's no longer just Juan and Rosalito from the ranchito who are coming across looking for work. There are many others who's goal is to see you and those like you dead.
  5. It should work as long as you don't hang a rock or a big root with it. Let me know how it works. If it turns out good I might build one for myself.
  6. I think the benefits will more than outweigh the negatives. And how many people do you think would actually carry? Maybe the folks that work on a ranch, or hunters or others that are out enjoying nature. I doubt you'll see many business people walking down the street in OKC with a pistol strapped to their side. But you very well might see a few at the country gas station / grocery store, especially during deer season.
  7. If I lived alone and if I owned any firearms, here's the ones I would keep loaded: 9mm in the arm storage area of my recliner 357 in a holster that mounts to the side of my bed 12 ga riot shotgun next to my bed 22 automatic in the bathroom drawer 22 mag revolver in kitchen drawer SKS with a few thousand rounds where it will never be found But all of my guns were lost in that tragic fire that's about to happen.
  8. I've got a Marlin 1894. I still use it occasionally when I'm rattling in heavy cover. I shoot some pretty hot handloads in it and I've killed 4 or 5 deer with it over the years.
  9. Looks like they're fleeing to a more business friendly state. It's a shame for the people in CT.
  10. I'll pass on the hundred, but I'll bet you a bottle of Tink's that if the Republicans talk Patraeus into running, he'll win.
  11. 7000 acres that we manage as we see fit (within the law, of course) - $25,000 annual and that includes an old ranch house with water and electricity. We could probably hunt 30 people there, but we intentionally limit it to 10 hunters and we all know each other very well. Actually, only about 5 of us hunt. The rest just like to sit around the fire and drink lots of whiskey. And I can't really say that I blame them. If I had to live in a city and work in their jobs, I'd probably be happy to pay good money to sit in the country by a big fire and drink whiskey too...
  12. Keep mouth shut - document thoroughly. At least for now...
  13. I found a broken flint blade a couple of weeks ago while working in the pasture. It's somewhere between a few hundred and a few thousand years old and it's still sharp enough to cut you. Wish it had been complete!
  14. A lot of state wildlife agencies/DNR's will have data about license sales and wildlife enhancement projects.
  15. Yep, I've seen it on both the inside and on the hull. If you're going to expose it to saltwater, make sure the compound you use is rated for that. Line-X is the best I've seen.
  16. Welcome aboard. And good luck with your trout and turkeys!
  17. Up until the last few years, there was a pretty clear separation between the illegals who were trying to get in to work and the drug smugglers. But today, they're more often than not one in the same. Makes a bad situation even worse. As to the shovel comment - If you're going to employ that method, I think a backhoe might be a more appropriate tool.
  18. Not too good for a female, but how about Hoover? As in "That dog sure does vacuum up the birds!"
  19. how do i get on the realtree prostaff and hunt for a living and make millions of dollars and go all over the world and kill lots of animals and get to be on tv every week and thats all i've ever wanted to do since i was 12 and i'm 17 now and my dad says i'm the best hunter he's ever seen and i'm going to start bowhunting next week too and if you could let me know where to send in my application i'll be ready to start hunting full time in june as soon as school is out and my little brother wants me to take him with me but i think he's too young to go but my mom is going to make me take him some i know but if i knew where bill's secret land was i would take him there cause there's lots of deer there and now that i think about it that would be a good spot for me to start bowhunting so could someone please give me bill's phone number so i can call him and set up a hog hunt

    Ouch!

Yep, better get that looked at before you get joint damage.
  21. Can anyone name me one business where the federal government got involved and the prices went down and quality went up? I think we'll see exactly the opposite in healthcare. Prices will go up (even more than they already have) and the level of care will go down.
  22. Name me ONE, just ONE major program that the federal government has undertaken that worked like they said it would and cost what they said it would?
  23. Ditto on the reminder. I just shook my head and tossed it in the trash where it belonged.
