Re: Tennessee Nonresident Hunters READ!!! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I think the US Government should control prices on ALL States and have a Standard "Non-Resident" Fee of around $100 to Hunt Deer or Small Game. [/ QUOTE ] I don't disagree with most of your opinions...but the very last thing I want to see is the Federal Gov. getting involved! [/ QUOTE ] I think it is a GREAT IDEA! If all the State's Governments in a given area ie: the Midwest and Southeast would consolidate their Fish & Wildlife Departments. This would result in better game management as the states could share information & revenues, and no state would be left out. I know well, that many would not like this idea or concept, but this charging an outlandish rate for a hunting license or deer tag has to stop. The end result will be even more of a lack or dying interest in the Sport of Hunting then we have currently! This increase in fees, will affect many businesses like the firearm, scope, and ammo industry to the point they will go out of business. Not to mention that these increases will also hurt many outfitters and other businesses in those states that depend on out-of-state Hunter's money. NO this increase is a VERY BAD idea or plan!! The price of everything is going up & up!!! Makes me think that some "Anti-hunting" faction or group is behind it. I think a flat rate of $100 for non-resident hunting license or tag is fair enought!

Re: nosler accubond bullets While these Nosler "Accubond" bullets might be fine; I still like the old Winchester "Silvertips" the best!

Re: Tennessee Nonresident Hunters READ!!! In this day & Age of HIGHER costs of Health Indurance, Medical expense, not to mention gas prices; these States, that are increasing their prices for a Deer Tag are pricing themselves out of Business! I can't understand why they charge so much and then turn around and complain of too many Deer in their State. I think the US Government should control prices on ALL States and have a Standard "Non-Resident" Fee of around $100 to Hunt Deer or Small Game. These License Fee increases are going to also have a negative impact on businesses that depend on Non-Resident Dollars!!

Re: Tennessee Nonresident Hunters READ!!! [ QUOTE ] Now it will be cheaper for us to hunt KY at $115. [/ QUOTE ] Kentucky is also raising their non-resident deer permits from $25 to $50. Also you MUST buy a non-resident general hunting license @ $115!

HOW MANY HAVE USED A SHOTGUN FOR DEER HUNTING ??
David_218 replied to too_pointer's topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: HOW MANY HAVE USED A SHOTGUN FOR DEER HUNTING ?? Here in Indiana, we are restricted to using Shotgun Slugs, M/L's or Pistols. I received a 20 gauge Browning Gold Deer Hunter for Christmas and plan to use it this fall for Deer here in Indiana. In Kentucky I use my .270 Ruger M-77 MKII. -
Does anyone still use open sights ??
David_218 replied to too_pointer's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Re: Does anyone still use open sights ?? I use a peep sight on my T/C Black Diamond. I can shoot just as well with it as with a scope. I bagged two KY deer and two IN Deer with it this past season. I do have a 4-power scope on my Knight MK-85 though, but don't use it very much. It has been sitting in the gun cabinet for several years now. -
Re: good deer hunting spot Regardless of what has been said here; There has been a lot of very nice Bucks taken in the State of Illinois.

Re: Fact check on Social Security plan [ QUOTE ] I'm 46 years old and I'm planning to retire not later than 62. I would be willing to let the government keep every penny I've paid in to Social Security if they would just let me "opt out" of paying for the rest of my working years. I'm quite confident that I can take the same amount I would pay them, invest it myself, and retire with a better income than I will ever see from their plan. [/ QUOTE ] A lot can happen, in 16 years. All I can say is plan for the worse and hope for the best.

Re: Fact check on Social Security plan [ QUOTE ] nobody can predict what stock and bond markets will do in the future. First, the stock market is a gamble, anyone going into it needs to know this. But history also shows that the more money you pour into the stock market, the better it does. [/ QUOTE ] I think the stock market is going to remain basically "Flat" for the next forseeable future. You're right inthat today's stock market is a gamble & historcally it has come up, in the past. However, with the oil market's behavor, Trade imbalance, Dollar loosing value, and China & India both buying up more and more resources; I can't see much of a rise in our Stock Market in the near future. The S & P 500 Index funds are only yelding 3% on average in dividends per year, and with this I think the best place to park your money, for awhile would be in a Money Market account or a C.D. They might not pay very much but atleast they are going in the right direction, and they're insured up to $100,000. You could also invest in "I" Bonds which are adjusted for inflation.

Re: Fact check on Social Security plan Anyone, under 50 years of age is going to have real problems with Social Security.

Re: Think I got robbed Last year, my Accountant charged me $250 to prepare my income tax (State & Federal) I received a $150 refund from the Government so that left me $150 in the hole. Why is it I always feel like I am getting "railroaded" at tax time! This year I will be paying $200 or more!!! The Government or IRS need to make the tax returns simple so "everyday folks" can prepare them themselves!

I don't own a .444 Marlin but if I were to buy one I'd get the one with a longer barrel and a little more weight. I think Marlin has one in .444; I do know they have their .450 Marlin in a longer barreled lever action.

Re: Questions about mineral sites[deer lick]??? [ QUOTE ] I want to establish some mineral sites[deer licks] on our club property. What are the best ingredients for this? What commercial products work best and what homemade recipes work best. All information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. [/ QUOTE ] I've use the trace mineral block salt (brown colored) for many years and it seems to be working fine. Just yesterday evening, 25 feet from our home, I saw two nice bucks with fantistic racks! One was an eight pointer with 16" spread and the other a 10 pointer with about an 19" spread! Must be working okay! (Where were these two during gun season! )

Question about varmit rounds for larger rifles
David_218 replied to jcwa's topic in Varmint & Predator Hunting
Re: Question about varmit rounds for larger rifles I've shot groundhog with both the .270 (90 grain HP bullet) and .30-06 (125 grain SPT). Both are fine for longer ranges, like in many Western States. The only down side to them is the excessive muzzle blast (noise). I like cartridges in the .22 Hornet to 243 range for hunting Varmints. -
Re: Fact check on Social Security plan [ QUOTE ] Until the Government officials who are in control of deciding what MY Social Security retirement is going to be are on Social Security themselves and NOT the PORK they have dished out to themselves for their own retirement, then heck yes, I am going to be scared. At the least, I am going to be skeptical they can get it right. [/ QUOTE ] Not only do the Senators & Congressmen receive generious retirement benfits; we (the Taxpayers) foot the bill for their Health Care Insurance FOR LIFE!

Re: Fact check on Social Security plan [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Our Enconomy is in such poor shape with trade deficits, individuals credit card debt now around $8,000 Average, and free trade taking away our ability to have a value added economy. Add to this fewer and fewer workers contributing to Social Security System. [/ QUOTE ] Is that right??? Well, maybe we should all sit back with our thumbs in our rumps and let the gov't. run SS into the crapper and let them supervise our credit card spending, too. How is it that this Chuck Harder knows the plan won't work when the plan is not even a reality yet??? How does he know what it's going to look like upon completion?? Lemme guess..............he's a Democrat...........right?? [/ QUOTE ] No he (Chuck Harder) is not a Democrat. Here's his website if you want to check him out : www.chuckharder.com You can also listen to his broadcast at 1 pm CST or 2 pm Eastern Time. He has a lot of good articles on the economy you should explore his website!

Re: Fact check on Social Security plan No matter what they do to the Social Security system, we're all still screwed. I listened to The Chuck Harder Show, on the internet, yesterday (first Hour) and he had an economist on that said President Bush's plan, along with many other plans out there, will not work. Our Enconomy is in such poor shape with trade deficits, individuals credit card debt now around $8,000 Average, and free trade taking away our ability to have a value added economy. Add to this fewer and fewer workers contributing to Social Security System.

Re: Cutting down a wood stock The Length-of-pull might be a little too long for you. I'd have a Gunsmith install the recoil pad for you, to be on the safe side.

Re: Ruined Jerky You might try this: Resoak your jerky strips in water overnight. Then remove jerky strips, pat dry and return them in water mixed with 1/2 cup of sugar. I can't promise anything, but this might take some of the salt away from your jerky. <GOOD LUCK>

Re: WAL-MART!!! NOW!!! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I checked mt Wally Worl today for ya - nada!!!!! [/ QUOTE ] Well thanks anyways!!! Hey David your off topic here, leave it be!!! We all know your stance on Wal-Mart. I wanted a pair of these scent blocker suits. Not to hear you complaining about Wal-Mart. Start a I HATE WAL-MART THREAD IN THE POLITICAL ROOM! LOL!!! [/ QUOTE ] Suggestion well taken. Sorry, I didn't intend to turn your topic/thread into a political issue. I'll say nothing more about Wal-Mart.

Re: lime Dolomite Lime (Magnesium Carbonate) in pellet form is the what you want to use. You're adding two important elements to the soil: Lime that raises the pH and Magnesium, which is necessary for good plant growth.
