Realtree.com cover story, suports H.F. Operation!
Shutter replied to rossman's topic in Deer Hunting
Re: Realtree.com cover story, suports H.F. Operati I think it depends on the amount of cover and terrain, but I dont consider 13,000 acres unfair at all. People hunt islands smaller than that. I'd call using a grunt tube, doe scent, rattling horns, high powered binocs, food plots, whisker biskits, solo cams, compounds, scent-lok, mossey oak, gps, range finders, 50mm objectives, trail cams, cough silencers and everything else you take hunting just as unfair. I'm not a high fence advocate, but at the same time, I can also see the fairness of 40 acre high fenced lion hunt when one uses a knife. e.g. it depends on the circumstances -
Re: Homebrew Video Cam Unit...(pics) nice, good luck with it. Did you dig a hole and artificially put that log in the ground in order to hang the cam there? or is the dirt just torn up there out of coincidence? Just curious

Re: some sunset pics nicely done! The last one is my favorite

Re: camera batteries? how many photos were taken in that one week of time? 1 week sounds pretty short, but then again, if there were 500 strobes of the flash, it might put a hurt'n on the batt life too.

Re: Photo Contest ?\'s, Comments... here is an easy (perhaps the easiest?) way to resize your photos online. http://www.lan-lord.net/photo_resize.aspx It has a one-click resize (defaults to 640 pixels), or you can customize how big/small you want them. For this contest you would need to use the custom resize option, and enter 504 (7inches x 72dpi) pixels for the maximum size. Here is one that I just resized (using custom resize @ 504 pixels) :

Re: External power sources for trail cams using a solar panel is a good option. The new moultrie (comes out in a month or so) claims to have an optional solar panel that you can attach.

I thought it was www.chasinggame.com but thats not it.. did it go belly up? or is my link incorrect? note, the link above appeared somewhat questionable, I didnt look around too long. (eg a link to "girl cams" was on there)

Re: IMPORTANT THREAD things that I think would make this a better place would be: 1.) Topic hover preview and a last post preview (when hovering over the last post link) 2.) Make photos easier. I think this is best accomplished by allowing one to "Attach" photos to a post (kinda like email) in addition to the ubb link option. 3.) syndicate posts with RSS 4.) Make it so you can click 2 search links back to back without having to wait or get this error. 5.) Make the history of posts infinite so that you can scroll back beyond a couple pages. Also make it so you can search for info all the way back to the beginning (not 6 months max). 6.) Make the menu drop downs more friendly.

Re: Ontario Trophy Bucks is up and running shane you are correct. I've always assumed that the nite time photo was the actual poacher. But you are correct, that was someone who found the buck (as you stated, a resident). Thanks for the clarification. doh, carry on!

Re: Ontario Trophy Bucks is up and running nice site, but you realize you have posted a picture of a poacher?? But I'm not here to take anything away from the awesome animal though. Perhaps instead you could put up the picture of the MNR agent with the buck that they recovered. full story here: http://www.whitetaildeer.name/dryden-buck.htm

Re: Lake Ontario Fishing Trip great pics, and congrats to your fiance, that is an awesome trout. We have "sheeps head" down here also, but they are very different looking.

Re: Converting a .tiff to jpeg or other for contest? some photo editing programs dont offer the option to save a tiff -> jpeg. I think MS Paint does though. Despite how primitive of a program it is, converting from tiff -> jpg it does do.

Re: Diesel Dudes I've been putting Green/LSD (Low Sulfer Diesel) into my diesel car for several years now. I've had no problems. I used to work in the oil/gas industry. The move to LSD is an attempt to improve air quality (by reducing the particulate matter to 15 ppm). The nice thing about diesel (before LSD) was that it involved very little refinement. The LSD process increases refining (and cost). Typically, additives are not mixed with diesel.

Re: Texas gun hunt Some people use www.deertexas.com to find day leases, packages, and yearly leases. I've never used it, but have heard of others using it with success. I will say, do your homework on those offerings. While most of the time the offers are legit, some have been burned (pretty rare from my understanding). Good luck finding a hunt. I know a couple of good outfitters, but they are a little more than 1K. If your budget changes, let me know. I know of some very good ranches.

Re: Trail Cams?????????? Here is a comparison that was posted last year. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90533& When choosing a commercially produced cam, I think you have to decide what is important to you. Price, flash range, mega-pixels, trigger time, battery life, etc.. I think all cams do a decent job, some do better in different areas. like mentioned above, a home brew will exceed in all aspects

Re: Ever inject marinade into backstrap? good point hutchies. I used a strainer to filter out the garlic and other chunks that were in the italian dressing. 2 nice backstrap steaks are destined for the grill tonight.
-
I had this idea one time, just wondering if anyone has tried it? I was thinking of injecting some worchester, italian dressing, redwine vinegar, and black pepper all mixed together.

Re: 33\" 18 lb Rainbow That's a great fish. I fished Strawberry res many summers ago. I have family that live across from Deer Ck res also. I used to spend my summers up there fishing for rainbows. My biggest fish up there was a 24" german brown.

This is all over the news here in Houston. The plane is currently circling and burning fuel. Not sure whether the pilot will land with the gear down and favor the good side, or pull the gear up (if possible) and do a belly slide.. prayers for the pilot, crew, passengers, and emergency workers standing by. Here is a news clip: A Continental Express flight en route from Houston to Minneapolis blew both left tires on take-off, forcing the plane to return Bush Intercontinental Airport to attempt a landing. There are 45 passengers and a crew of three onboard the plane the plane that was supposed to land in the Twin Cities at 6:45. The plane took off at 4:06 p.m. The plane is continuing to circle past the tower so they can get good look at the damage. But video taken by Houston area news helicopters shows there are no tires at all on the left wheels. The pilot is expected to land the plane in the next hour. The weather in Houston is hazy, but other than that, skies are clear. Storms are expected later Tuesday night, they are already in the Austin area.

Re: Do you use the \"Ignore This User\" feature? I use it. With some folks its just a difference of philosophy. Nothing personal.
