I don't hunt here locally near the house. Just not worth it any more with our lack of managment. I'm waiting until early October when my vacation kicks in and I head down to the eastern part of the state. I plan to be in a tree on the evening of October 5th

All public. I tried to get some stuff going on the family farm land a few years ago but poaching and other BS made it not worth the trouble. Other than that experiment there I have not hunted private land since 1996.

OK team. Lets get some serious bone on the ground! What are everyone's plans for this season? I'll be hunting south central Iowa and eastern North Carolina. Anybody got any ideas for a team name?

I disagree. Pit strategy MIGHT work and then only on a few of the tracks. Most of the bigger tracks one can make a green flag stop WITHOUT loosing a lap (or letting someone gain one). The new double file restarts, which I LOVE, virtually eliminate any opportunity of a car racing their way back on. Like I said, I think a car multpile laps down even if they are the first car down should NOT get the pass and I could even agree with limiting the number of free passes to each car to one or two. That way you do away with a car that is not fast enough to run with the front and keeps falling off, but allow someone who makes a pit mistake or has plug wire come off to get the lap back and have a chance. Also, one can look at it from a standpoint of Bristol, Richmond and even some of the 1 1/2 milers. The lucky dog does allow more cars to be on the lead lap at the end to make for a better finish. Remember Atlanta in the spring? When one teams pit error on the FIRST green flag stops caused a caution and trapped almost the entire field a lap down,leaving only NINE cars on the lead lap 50 laps into the race? What about that? At least the lucky dog brought it back to where there were 15 cars on the lead lap at the end.

It is really a double edged sword. There has got to be some way for cars to have an opportunity to get a lap back. So do we let them race back to the line? From a safety stand point I'd say no. The double file restarts have eliminated any chance of racing your way back on. The "no pit wave around" doesn't really help unless there is a caution in the first two or three green flag laps after the restart. So, that leaves the "lucky dog". I see no problem with letting the first car ONE lap down come back around and rejoin the tail of the lead lap. However, I do think that once you are multiple laps (2 or more) down, regardless of if you are the first car lapped, you should not get the pass. One other thing to think about is that the only track I've ever seen a car multiple laps down come back and finish strong on is POCONO! So what does that say about that race track? I could see the same situation at Daytona or 'Dega but I can't remember it ever having happened.

Go with the 308 and be done with it. The 243, and 7mm-08 are 308 cases necked to smaller caliber bullets. The 308 will offer you much more versatility than the 243 plus a good bit more umph when it hits.

I'm not really a fan of either Tony or Kurt but I have to say that the "on track" portion of this dust up was probably because of the new car. There were two identical situations last night in the shootout. The vision out of the cockpit just isn't as good and the closure rate is wicked fast compared to the old configuration. Now, with that said, I think the entire #2 team should be ejected from Daytona immediately and suspended indeffinatley. Might let them back in by week 3 at Vegas. Why the entire team? Simple, you knock the entire team AND the sponsor out, somebody will get Kurt's attention. You let Miller Lite tell Penske to get control of his driver or they are pulling their money because they can't afford to be parked and you will see a whole new Kurt Busch.

It is weird what goes through some folk's head. Glad everyone is alright. I've got a similar story from several years ago. In 1998 I was deployed to the fires in Florida. A "friend" of mine, who knew I was gone, decided to stop by my house the FIRST night I was gone to "check on my wife". The sad part he was a local deputy, was on duty, and in his patrol car. My wife refused to let him in the house but he still came back two more nights while I was away. She fianlly told him if he didn't stop harassing her she would call the sheriff and let him know what his deputies were doing while on duty.

I think that it is funny that NASCAR will sit out a lowbudget low fan base driver like Robby Gordon for ignoring a black flag...BUT they will only slap a high profile driver like Kurt Busch with a fine and a points penalty for INTENTIONALLY HITTING SOMEONE ON PIT ROAD. IMO punishment sorta don't fit the crimes.

NO! NO! NO! We have GREAT race venues here that are being closed, new tracke being built that can't get dates and they want to hold ANOTHER race out of the country. No, I don't think they should have a race in Montreal, at least not unitl Rockingham and North Wilkesboro are open again and places like Kentucky, Nashville, and Iowa have Cup dates.
