  1. I am thinking about getting a couple of cheap ($100 and under) but reliable trail cams and using them this year. I hunt mostly on public land. Does anyone else use trail cams on public land and what is your strategy on keeping it safe from theifs? Do you lock it with a cable or only leave it up over night and take it down during the day? Also, what is your camera set up?
  2. I was able to connect on 2 does and one nice buck this year. My first wallhanger. Scored him out at 131" He is not very wide but tall and great mass. I actually seen the buck the morning before I shot him. He bedded 120 yards from my stand. I slipped down and slipped back in the stand thanksgiing weekend. I told my brother he needed to come sit in my area because I knew he only had 2 ways out to the field to feed. I covered one area and my brother covered the other exit. I got a text from my brother asking if i could hear deer fighting. I replied no and then looked up and this guy and another 115" were walking my way. He got to the ditch where I was set up and stopped and acted like he didnt want to cross, I threw a couple grunts at him and he crossed and stopped in my 20 yard lane. I was shaking so bad I pulled my shot and hit him in the guts. My heart sank right there. I watched him run untill I could not see him anymore. When I looked back the 115" was still standing in my 30 yard land but I already felt bad about the first shot so I decided not to take a longer shot at him. I got down at dark and did not look for blood or my arrow. I walked the opposite way he ran, back to my truck. I did not even want to go out in the morning but my brother talked me into it since he left his climber in the woods. I went and sat in it and shot the first of seven does I seen. Made a nice lung shot. I recovered her by myself and picked my brother up and we went and searched for the buck. We had about 60 yards of blood and then it stopped right before it got to an open grass field. There was a brush pile in the grass so my brother went and looked around the brush pile and he layed down there and expired. Part of my arrow broke and stayed inside the cavity and ended up slicing the lung so I got lucky. So here are the pics! First Doe I shot this doe the morning after I shot the buck.

    Catfish bait

Nice cats! When my brother and I go fishing we usually use partially frozen chicken livers. It is easier to get them to stay on the hook when they are partially frozen. My buddy and I went a couple years ago on the ohio river and we caught a couple 60+ lbers on cut bait. Find a place where you can catch some shad/mooneye/skip jack. When you cut them them up cut them in 1" sections. The heads are good to use but the tails are not so you can throw the tails out. Good Luck
  5. As a Michigan fan I can not believe I am saying this, I agree with Muggs on this one. If Tressel was a fraud/con artist someone would have found out about his character a long time ago. The man has been a coach a long time and makes one mistake and now people are calling him every name in the book. To me all of this stuff with ncaa violations are on the kids. They know the difference of right or wrong and it is sad to see a GREAT coach lose his job over some selfish kids. Weather you agree with the rules about selling memorabilla, rules are rules and the kids know they were doing something wrong.
  6. I just use a beard trimmer. I do not have a razor so I am trying to go with the Zac Brown look.
  7. I missed it but glad you said something, reminded me that the show was on!
  8. Also thanks for the congratulatory thoughts everyone.
  9. Kat, Sounds good! It is not that I don't mind doing it, i just didnt realize how much time it took. I went and bought a new mower for the lawn too. I got a 50" cub cadet zero turn which I absolutely love.
  10. Guys and Gals, It has been a while since I have posted or been able to get on here and check out stuff out. WOW things have changed! I like the new look of the forums, great job who ever did that. What else is new everything or everyone? With me I am recently engaged and gettting married in July of 2012. My fiance and I just recently purchased our first home. It is exciting and nerve racking at the same time. I never realized how much time the upkeep of a house and 1.5 acres of mowing takes. Glad to be back and can not wait to make some friendships again. Mike

    CT Scan

I had one when I was younger, has probably been 15 years or so. I want to say 30-45 minutes back then. I remember just laying down and closing my eyes and laying there.
  12. Muggsy, It has been a while since I have been able to get on here but I will answer your question. Ryan Mallet had to go because he was not a good fit in Coach Rods "system". It is fine by me. If it is such a gimmick system then how can you explain how he did what he did at West Virginia with it? Took them from nothing to consistintly in the top 10 in the nation when he was there. He made a decision to leave that school and go to his "dream" job. I know you dont like it, but get over it. He did what was best for him and his family. Only time will tell if it was worth it but his track record with other teams say it was a chance worth taking. Now that he is finally getting "his" guys that fit "his" system in there and getting them experience. (In other words, they are not freshmen anymore) I think it will get better. I think the biggest problem is the defense went to heck when Ron English left and took a head coaching job somewhere. I say you have to give him at least 2 more years to let him get his kids to be seniors. From what I watched of the spring game this year, I highly expect Denard Robinson to be the strarting QB over Forcier. I am expecting a good season with losses possibly coming from Penn State, and a close low scoring game with your buckeyes.
  13. I was out bass fishing this weekend and caught a 26" 8.6 lb Largemouth. I released it to fight another day as I do with all my bass. I am thinking about getting a replica done. I do have a pic with it to help the taxidermist out. I have a couple questions. About how much would it cost? What are the pros and cons of a replica and would you be able to tell the difference in looks? Any help would be appreciated.
  14. Its been a while since I checked in, been busy with work and holidays. Have not seen anything lately while out hunting. Still trying for another one.
  15. We were paired for the christmas exchange and wanted to publicly thank him for the gift. After reading that I had my back pack stolen he sent me a back pack and a couple accesories that were inside. What a great guy! Thanks John Hope everyone has a great and Merry Christmas
  16. I left it in the back because the other 6 times we went there we have done the same thing and nothing had been stolen. It was a new public ground and only seen maybe 4-5 other guys there and talked to most of them. I did not contact anyone. There is only one DNR officer for the entire county. I just chalked it up to a lesson learned.
  17. Last weekend My buddy and I decided we would go hunting friday after work since we only had to work half a day. We get to our spot (public land) and start getting ready. Since it is a long hike back in I decided I was not going to take my back pack and keep the load light. After Hunting we get back to the truck and start packing everything back up. I notice my back pack was not in the back of the truck anymore. I asked him if he moved it and he said no. We started looking around and seen tire tracks from another vehicle. Someone had stolen my back pack! It was in the bed of the truck with 2 bow cases, a deer dolly, and some of my buddys wool camo and waders. The only thing they took was my back pack. My pack had a pair of Bushnell 10x50 perma focus binos ($120) 2 field dressing knives ($50 each) a saw, gloves, beanie hat, bow holder, scent spray. I lost close to $300 dollars if not more in that pack. I guess I learned my lesson. You can not trust anyone anymore. He is very lucky he was gone by the time I noticed.
  18. Sorry its been a while guys and gals. I have been busy with work and hunting. I have not gave up still tryin to fill my buck tag.

  21. Thanks for the replys guys! Looks like this will be my camera.
  22. I agree that my own goals change by the day. The problem with me is that I get excited by every deer that I see from a fawn to a buck. My adrenaline gets going and I get "buck" fever on every deer. That is why I love hunting.
  23. So now with his injuries and with Durant becoming the second fastest to 4000 points behind Lebron. You can admit Durant is the better player and will have the better career.
  24. I just want to be able to get out there and enojoy the outdoors trying to find some. I have 0 to my credit and want to put in more time and find atleast one.
