My buddy and I decided to run to the Ohio River sunday and try to catch some big catfish. He told me it has been about 4-5 years since he tried so he was not going to promise me anything. We get to the river about 7 and went to catch our bait. It took us about 3 hrs to catch some bait and finally seen a guy who had some frozen ones that he offered us. So we were off and running trying to find some of his old spots. I was not ready nor could I comprehend on how big of fish are in the river and how much these fish fight. We only caught 6 fish all day. Two of them being in the 2-3 lb range. We also caught a 10lb blue cat and a 20lb blue cat. Then we caught these two beasts which he let me reel both of them in. He told me he has reeled in a lot of them over the years. Fish #1 64lbs 9 oz Fish#2 This one weighed 65lbs 14oz but i dont think i had the tail all the way off the ground when I weighed it. These fish looked like twins and they pulled like nothing else I have experienced. It was a blast and I am hooked forever now. Hope you enjoy. a quick note: These pictures where taken with my phone so the quality is not the best.

Hey guys, Sorry it took me so long to check in. I just got back from the U.P. of Michigan on a fishing trip. Anyone have good team names?
-
I have been there before. I grew up in the middle part of Michigan. Every year my brother and I would go up to the PM (Pere Marquette) and salmon fish. It has been a while since I have been up there. I am sure you will have a good time. It is beautiful scenery. Let us know how you do. I will be in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan next week on a walleye and pike fishing trip.

I bought volume 1 and volume 2 from cabelas last week. I put them in the dvd player and started watching them. On every hunt the disc skips and stops. I put in roadtrips season 6 and that one had a couple skips and stops in it also. Thinking it could have been my dvd player I put in a different dvd and that one played fine. My question is, Has anyone else experienced this? Should I send these back to cabelas and get new ones?

Does this make sense to anybody else?

You explained that pretty well, I am impressed. If I was stallworth I would have let it known that I hit my brakes as well and let everyone know instead of letting them guess. Either way, it is over and done with. The family of the victims accepted the deal. The thing that I did not get was even though he was out of the cross walk. Someone still died and the man responsible was driving drunk. -

Can you explain to me how he had time and flashed his lights but didnt slow down or stop or swerve? If you have time to flash your lights you have time to get out of the way by doing something else. -

What I take from this is, if he had enough time to flash his lights he had enough time to stop or slow down. I dont know what happened but it sounds like to me that he was thinking "i am flashing my lights now move" and never slowed down. This just irates me. Fact: His Blood alcohol level was over the limit. Fact: He knew the guy ran out in front of him because he had time to flash his lights. Fact: He killed the guy. He should have received atleast 5 years if you ask me. -
I need one of them for my property!

I always aim where I want the arrow to hit. I find the pocket right behind the shoulder, pick a small spot and let her eat. When I was growing up my brother always told me, Aim small, miss small. Aim big, miss big. Which basically told me to aim at a very small area you want to hit.

I got some new clubs this past week. I traded my Nike Slingshots in on some Nike SQ Sumo Irons. Yesterday was my first round with them. I am very pleased. Everything that I read about them was true. My ball flight was a lot higher than what it used to be and the ball went farther. My 4 iron with the slingshots used to go about 180-185. I hit my 4 iron 3 times yesterday. There were two par threes that were 195 and 205. Both 4 iron shots were on the green. One was 8 ft from the hole and the other was 15 ft. It only took 3-4 shots to get used to them. All around I was pleased. I shot a 46. Could have been better but could have been worse. I played from the blue tees. I did find a new way to lag putt. If you are about 20+ feet away and just want to lag putt. Get lined up and look at the hole. Dont look at the ball. When you make your putting stroke never take your eye off the hole. It feels like your rolling the ball at the hole and you can control your long distances better.

I am tired of everyone bashing Brett for nothing. The guy loves to play football. After the season is done he is tired and thinks he is done but the love of the game comes back after a little while. I do not think Joe Montana going to the Chiefs at the end of his career tarnished his legacy. So why is everyone jumping of Brett? I do not get it. This is like one of us who goes and and plays a round of golf. After a bad round we say we will never play again but then come back and play again next weekend. -

The way I look at it. Brett can do whatever he wants and not tarnish his legacy. You can not take anything that he has accomplished away. If the guy wants to play let him. Putting Brett Favre on the level of T.O. is stupidity. You never see Favre in the news like him, or holding press conferences about his teammates. I don't see how you can actually say Brett got Mangini fired with a straight face. You have no facts in your points about those two topics. Stop being jealous of the guy. I do not see anyone attacking Arnold Palmer or Jack Nicklaus for the amount of time that they played tournament golf and were non competitive. The difference is Brett is still competitive and can still play like he showed last year untill he got hurt. -
Couldn't have said it better myself. Glad the Lions did not get him, especially if that is what they would have had to give up to get him.

That is a Hog! Congrats, what did you catch it on?

Yeah , I remember about not even thinking about golfing untill april or so. I played the Emerald once and I loved it. It was about 60 or so today and sunny. Low 70s in Michigan this time of year is a heat wave;)

I was able to get out of the house and on to the course for the first time this year. It was the first swings this year so my expectations were not that high. I started out with par, par, bogey, and a par. I finished the first 9 with a 42. It was very pleasing. The second 9 I felt like I played worse and shot a 44. So an 86 for the first time out I can take. My driver was great, only missed one fairway all day. My irons on the other hand were not good. My chipping saved me. My putting was mediocre. Not bad all around though. I guess a feel for the greens is something you acquire through the season so I should not expect to have it right off the bat. I had 22 putts on the front and 19 on the back. I had six 3 putts and one 4 putt. Has anyone else been out?

Congrats Chris! That is a brute.

Sorry I should have specified about that. I am targeting largemouths. When I lived in Michigan, I knew how to catch the local smallmouths. Now that I am down here in Missouri, I am understanding the main game fish is Largemouths. I am used to fishing for walleye and Smallmouth in streams and now I will be targeting Largemouths in lakes. Right now on my "shopping list" I have a couple of the KVD sexy shad crankbaits in the shallow runners. The KVD redeye crankbaits. (the lipless ones which I assume is something like a rattle trap). A couple of the KVD spinnerbaits. The Stacey King jig and trailer kit. Some baby brush hogs and some suspending jerk baits. Just to start off with. In case you were wondering, KVD is my favorite pro fisherman.

That didn't quite come out the way I wanted it too. I don't know if I could get the fish that hit that bait into the boat lol.

I am just starting to fully get into bass fishing. I have fished for them but mainly in ponds. My question is what are your go to lures that you would not go to the lake without. I am going to bass pro shops in a couple weeks and I need to stock up on my bass fishing lures. Right now all I basically have is a couple spinnerbaits and an 8 ft sexy shad crankbait. A buddy was telling me that I need to get some baby brush hogs with a spot head jig? Not sure what they are. lol:) Any help is appreciated.
