  1. Re: flathead catfish question Here's a picture for y'all. Saw this on another site. I guess red basketballs are good bait for flatheads! Eric
  2. Re: flathead catfish question Huntin girl, We have some pretty AWESOME catfishing here in VA this time of year. Mostly Blues though. A guy caught one in the James River a few weeks ago that weighed 83 lbs.+. We have Flatheads too in the river and I've caught a few. Most of the ones I've caught have been in shallow water around rocks and brush piles. Bream seem to be the best but I caught one in a bass tourney on a plastic worm on a fallen tree. Go figure. This time of year when it's cold the fish are in the deeper holes but when it gets warm in the summer they move shallow. I've heard of 50+ lb Blues being caught in 3' of water. The few Flats I've caught have been in the Summer. Good luck in your tourneys. I might go catfishing Saturday. It's suppose to get to 50 degrees here then! WhoooHooo! Eric

  4. Re: Arrow rest Your fletchings could be hitting the rest. This will cause the arrow to fly inconsistant. You may need to adjust your vanes (spin your nock) so they don't hit the rest. BTW, where in VA are you located. I'm in Mechanicsville on the Hanover/New Kent line. Eric
  5. Re: i miss it!!! Our season ended yesterday and we had a pretty good hunt. Most everthing was froze but we found a pocket of open water and the ducks came sliding into the decoys. Can't wait till next season! Eric
  6. Re: Dog Huntin\' Hunting with dogs is how I was raised as a kid. That's what's mostly done here in central VA. It wasn't until I started bow hunting when I was 17 that I started to enjoy hunting without dogs. One of my clubs uses mostly Beagles but my other club has Walker hounds. The big dogs really run the deer hard and the Beagles just push them along. Depends on what kind of land your hunting as to which is best. Eric
  7. Re: That\'s just seems nasty. I saw that in the store one day and about fell in the floor laughing. I can't imagine someone actually using the stuff. Buck urine is one thing, but that's going a bit too far I think. Funny stuff! Eric
  8. Re: Chase for the Championship Ryan Newman Rusty Wallace Jeff Gordon Jimmie Johnson Jamie McMurry Mark Martin Tony Stewert Kurt Busch Matt Kenseth Kasey Kahne Dale Jr. They may not finish in that order but that's my picks. I think 11 will make it and maybe more. This should be an exciting year with all the good teams out there. With all the rule changes for this year it sould make it real interesting! Eric
  9. Re: Duke lost Sweet! Now UNC will be ranked #2! Go Tarheels! Eric
  10. Re: bass fishin lures If I could use only one bait it would be a Jig-n-pig. I like a black and blue jig with a black Zoom super chunk. My favorite bait to catch fish on is a buzzbait. I love seeing a big ol bass blow up on a buzzbait. In the early Spring when the water is still 40's-low 50's a suspending jerkbait is tied to one of my rods. When the fish start to move up looking for beds I'll start throwing lizards or baby brush hogs in shallow cover. Also work a spinnerbait as well. When the fish start moving off the beds I'll throw crankbaits at em. When they move to their summer haunts I usually throw Carolina rigged brush hogs or lizards. However I always have a rod with a jig tied on it. Doesn't matter what time of year it is. My tackle bag weighs about 100 pounds with just about everything but the kitchen sink in it. I'm ready for anything! Eric
  11. Re: Super Bowl Picks.... I think the Patriots will do it! However that post about "Red Sox Nation" pains me being a Yankees fan! Eric
  12. Re: Saltwater fishing camelNS, We get into some good flounder sometimes. A friend of mine does a lot of flounder fishing and last Spring he caught one 10lbs. 10oz. It was 28" long. That was a HAWG! I hope to catch one at least 6lbs. this year! (citation is 6lbs.) Eric
  13. Re: Piebald Deer /Albino / White Deer jci, These deer were all small. I have never seen any around here that had any size to them. My Uncle shot a true albino at our club about 22 years ago. I saw the deer before he shot it and thought it was a dog. (I was 11 an never herd of a white deer) He had a full body mount done of it. We hear of albinos sometimes but they are few and far between. A farm about 20 miles from me had 2 black deer on it. A friend of mine hunted there and saw them often but the landowner wouldn't let anyone shoot them. That would have been a cool site! We have all kind of wierd deer here in VA! Eric
  14. Re: BIG PA. BUCK(PIC) He would have a been a nice one for somebodies wall! Shame he went by way of car. Great buck! Eric
  15. I know most of you guys are from the mid west and don't see saltwater but fishing here in the Chesapeake Bay can be a blast. I don't get to do as much as I would like but hopefully I'll get to go after some flounder later this spring. Here are a couple pics from The Bay in VA. Eric
  16. Re: Piebald Deer /Albino / White Deer You can kill them here in VA. I've taken 3 in the last several year. I shot the first two pictured and the last one a friend of mine shot... all last year. We killed another one this year at our club and it had another one with it. They are pretty popular around here! Eric
  17. Re: Sandbagging? They've made some personel changes over there so it doesn't surprise me. Waltrip is still running good... so I expect Jr. to be fine come the 500! Eric
  18. Re: What is your biggest deer? I took a decent 11pt this year that will gross around 145"+/-. My best buck grosses 151"+ as a 11pt. My favorite is the 8pt I got when I was 17 years old. He scores around 137". Here are the pics in order. Eric
  19. Re: Week 3 playoff picks.... Patriots Falcons
  20. Re: Pics From Game Great pics even though I hate the Steelers! The Pats will do away with them next week... then they can hit the golf course! (somewhere warm!) LOL Eric
  21. Re: Yahoo Fantasy Racing League I'll join your league. I have one that some of my buddies get in and I do the fans of Rusty Wallace group too. My team is SmokeNU Racing. Eric
  22. Re: My 1st Texas Whitetail Man that 4pt is pretty unique looking! Sounds like yall had quite a day of QDM. Eric
  23. Re: Got my mounts back! Very nice looking mounts! Congratulations! Eric
  24. Re: last day of the season hunt Sweet! Congratulations on a successful hunt! Eric
  25. Re: New Dodge Bodies The new Dodge is a Charger and hopefully Wallace and Newman will take them to the front! The middle of the cars are all basically the same. It's the front nose and deck lid that are different. The front of the Dodge does look very similar to the Chevy and the deck lid is similar to the Ford. Best of all worlds I guess! Eric
