    thorns

No thorns. I shot a buck with a broadhead healed over against his spine. My dad shot a buck once that had a gold ball sized gob of puss along the rib cage. No wound to go with it.
  3. Feel free to put some of the Realtree bathing suit gals in the back seat!
  4. Well my season is over. My buddy got a spike on Saturday morning with his ML. It was his first buck with a smoke pole. Someone else is going to swim the last leg of this relay if we are going to win.
  5. 25 here this morning and lake effect snow on the way. Supposed to get 2 feet in the next 2 days. Your bitter cold will be here on Friday. They say it will drop to -10 below.
  6. Well it all comes to an end this weekend. We will have our late black powder season and deer season is done. It will be my last chance to upgrade.

Looks like the edit button disappears after about 5 minutes. Tried to add IS to my previous post and it was already gone.

    We're Back!

The edit button there Luke when you first post. It disappears after a certain period of time. Most of my other forums have that same feature.

    Blood Trails

See that hole. That was made by a 1.5" 3-blade expandable broadhead. It was a complete pass through with a sharp downward angle. You would think with a lower complete pass through you would see plenty of blood early with no chest fill up. In fact it was a very poor blood trail. This buck went about 100 yards after the shot. The first 50 yards there was just enough blood for me to follow. The last 50 he plugged up and I lost the trail. I finally found him on a grid search. The reason I chose this broadhead was because of Youtube videos with blood gushing from deer. It goes to show that no broadhead is perfect.
  12. That's what I was thinking. Congrats on a great buck Ruth!
  13. I just remembered that once I saw a bunch of crows run off a lone hen turkey off some corn. I few minutes later she returned with the rest of her flock and they ran the crows off. That was fun to watch.
  14. I've seen it a lot. I've seen crows after owls and hawks. They make an awful racket. 34 years ago, opening day of my second deer season, I had it happen in a tree next to me. the crows were after a hawk. It went on for 15-20 minutes and it was driving me crazy so I shot a slug into the tree to scare them off. I have no way to prove it but a believe it makes deer nervous and they avoid the area till things quiet down.
  15. Seems like only yesterday we were reading about her adoption. Wow, how time flies. Congratulations on one heck of a buck!
  16. I think that was the biggest surprise for me. I fully expected to see you on the entry board first. I think we got this, I'm really excited!
