  2. Re: What is going on here?? Like Vtbowman stated the weather here as shut everything down....All I can say to ya is that's the way the game goes from time to time. and other time you have to beat them of with a club...all that matters at this point in time is that you get healthy again.....
  3. Re: *Made a 120 pound mistake, still freezer meat* Hey it happens !!!don't beat yourself up over it...and about the doe thing doe's travel alone her in Vernont quite often....Just watched a lone doe this morning for about 1/2 hr.
  4. Re: 5 1/2 years worth the wait... Congrats on the great looking deer...I must be one of the lukiest newbies to bowhunter out there I arrowed a respectable buck for Vermont my first season..I must commend you on your patience with the equipment problems and the long awaited bow kill.. again great looking deer to me and I consider a trophy to be in the eye of the beholder...CONGRATS !!!!
  5. Re: Frist Hunt by mayself Like the others have said welcome to the forum..the best place on the web to get advice and info and even to vent... good decission to pass on that deer..there will definately be other oppertunities and good luck
  6. Re: Just sick!!! MAN !!! sorry to hear that, that really stinks for ya. But you made the effort to retrieve him, let it go and try for another one and GOOD LUCK !!
  7. Re: Taking the Wife Hunting For the 1st Time Have a great time and enjoy !!! I wish my wife could go with me she loves it but ever since she had her heart surgery it has become to strenuous for her to get in the woods and sitting on a field accordding to her isn't the same...
  8. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin OK folks it's Nov. 20th little to no activity here except tresspassers to scare the living bejesus out of me..The weather has been extremely warm and way above normal with no snoe in site. Usually here in Vermont we have some snow and colder weather to help with the rut. Atleast I've got to see a Spike that I'm sorry that I didn't take a crack at now, and some doe's but other than that nada.....hope everyone else is having better luck than me...
  9. Re: Those God darn tresspassers...!!!!! Well atleast I lived !!!! All I can say is that they were very lucky it was me and not Shawn or Bob. At the time I was so startled by the presence of three others to my right, and one directly in front of me I really was out numbered and wasn't quite sure what to do. All I could imagine was being cornered in a box blind with 4 idiots with rifles using me for a target. I'm making light if it now but at the time I was definately terified, who knows what people will do these days..and I can vouch for Vtbowmans generousity all it takes is being a man and ask him personaly for permission and that's that....now that I have rinsed my shorts out I can realx alittle..LOL
  10. Re: I tried rattling but no takers... Shawn, I gave those antlers a whirl myself tonite with no avail...LOL I did managew to call in a few crows tho....
  11. Re: Is a 3.5 year old to young????? Shawn, I think you and her wuld have a great time it's never too early to bond with your children and think it would be a great learning experince for her and you. Bring some snacks and some colorong books and some other activities for here. I think as long as she stays warm your golden,,,GOOD LUCK
  12. Re: How\'s the season going for everyone so far???? Rifle Season here in Vermont is extremely slow the weather is just not coperating, by this time of year we should have snow and colder temps but have niether of these 2 critical factors. The warm weather seems to have shut down the rut....Dang It...
  13. Re: velocity question I would have to agree with Muggs. I'd more concerned with shot placement than speed. I would say that maybe you string has streched abit or maybe a little tuning may be order. I use an Alpine Extreme set at 62lbs. and 80% letoff and it shoots 295ft/psec. and I tagged a deer with it.. don't let this set in your mind it will definately affect ya...
  14. Re: Turkeys where turkey aren\'t suppsoe to be! I guess it's time for a good ground blind.....and some Turkey calling practice may in order for ya !!!
  15. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin WOW !!! My spike grew to 4 points... O.K. this is sad I just answered to my own post !!! LOL
  16. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin Yeah...but that's where the deer are tho Shawn...and by all the signs we have seen there are some BIG BOYS in there being smarter than us. But maybe we can intise some of the boys out next season.....If the weather is better than this seasons.
  17. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin My wieght isn't a issue at 170lbs. But the stamina and cardio is..LOL by the time I get to the top where the crows nest is I'm ready for a nap, and I'm so winded it aint funny. Deer season seems to let me know just how out of shape I really am. Especially since I took up bowhunting that adds to the schedule needless to say I still have ML season to deal with..LOL
  18. Re: Lost a good one due to cheap remington ammo I use nothing but Federal Ammo here...but it's nothing that's written in stone. Can't say I have ever had a miss fire of anykind.
  19. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin Practice is my middle name darn it....LOL I'm very proficient with my bow up to 30yards....Heck ya I will help fund some plots. That's the least I can do for ya...I'll even put in some sweat labor...I could use the exercise needless to say...
  20. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin Shawn. I'll spring for the seed and help with the labor if ya give me s shot at bow season >>>you pick the seed or seeds.....by the looks I may be losing my bow hunting lot to a sale...don't that figure the way my luck as been this year....I could break my brothers neck,,darn it. LOL
  21. Re: Vermont November Rifle Season About To Begin This morning I went to a different spot for a change of scenery, and nada nothing it's like the deer have fallen of the face of the earth...I usually see atleast Doe but not even that...I'm really becoming concerned....What to do ????
  22. Re: Anyone know how to hunt rattlesnake?? YIKES !!!! Sounds like a pretty scary thing to be doing if you ask me....Makes me glad I live in Vermont not much here for poisionous snakes. I think I would leave that job to the proffesionals and observe from long distance ( LIKE ANOTHER STATE ) LOL. Good luck with the snake hunting and be safe !!!
  23. Re: Opinions needed on the CVA Kodiak Magnum This weapon will primarly be used in early December in Vermont. I will only be using it 2weeks out of the year to hunt with, I don't intend on target shooting, but do want an accurate weapon as all of us do. As for range I would like to get 100-125 yards maximum. I mainly hunt open hard woods so the shots are relatively short yardage shots, but may need to take that occassional long shot. Since I am a newbie to these type of weapons safety is the upmost important along with reliability and durability.
  24. I'm new to the world of Muzzel Loading and I'm interested in the CVA Kodiak Magnum. I would like to hear from you experienced users of this type of weapon. Is this a good muzzel loader?? or is it a waste of money ????
  25. Re: Hobbies? Practicing with my new bow and computer repair or just computers in general, woodworking and staying out of the wifes' hair...LOL
