Last night I went out and hunted a new spot on our lease and saw a doe and two fawns. They came in to 30 yards and I had a hole to shoot through on the doe and I released and watched the arrow zip right over her back. I hit a small twig about 15ft. from me and it just lifted the arrow right over her back. I was dissapointed in myself for not looking closer at the hole, I thought I had plenty of room. I was also dissapointed that I came that close to possibly wounding her, I am sure glad it was a clean miss. They didn't spook at all, she just ran maybe 10 yds and turned around to see what hit the ground and then they just casually walked off. I did learn from the situation, always check the path of the arrow.

Re: Birds roosted in my lap! That's awesome. One morning I was walking across a field with weeds probably knee high and it was pitch dark. I stepped and something jumped up and hit my shoulder. It was a turkey that was just laying out in the field. Scared me to death I had to sit down a second just to catch my breath. I never knew turkeys would bed down in a field like that but since I have seen it two other times. It is fun to get to experience something like that.

Re: First Archery Deer!!!! Congrats on your first bow kill. I had the same thing happen last year shot was a little far back and ended up having to put a second shot on her bedded down. Another lesson learned on that was to always approach a deer as if it is still alive.

Re: Copper John Noise? Thanks for all of the help. All the bolts are tight and everything is really solid. I did take my finger and tap on the ring and I get some twang noise on the small ring with the cutout, I think I will get a mini limbsaver like mentioned and that should work. Thank you for your help guys.
