    Big 8 Point

Nice one Frank! Congrats man, great story.
  2. Awesome! Congrats to your young lady, can't imagine the amount of excitement from both of you.
  3. Had a huge burst of snow here yesterday morning. Had an inch covering the ground after it went through but it only stayed on the ground for a couple hours. Cold last night, hit -9c or 17f, felt like late November when I was outside at 7 this morning. Looks like it's over though, high is supposed to be 58 degrees tomorrow.
  4. Wow, that is awesome! Congrats to Denver on an awesome antelope. And my hat is off to you for giving him that opportunity!
  5. That's a great story! Hard work and persistence pays off. Congrats to Ernie, that's one heck of a deer. And kudo's to all of you for not giving up.
  6. Went out for a couple hours this evening, first sit in a while that I haven't saw a single deer. The wind was blowing about 15mph out of the NW with the temperature right at 32 degrees so it was a tad chilly 17 feet in the air lol. As I was getting out of the tree a wolf let out a full blown howl which sounded to be less than a mile away. That sure woke me up lol.
  7. There was snow falling all day off and on, it was slightly above freezing so nothing stayed though. It was a chilly sit in the stand this evening with the brisk NW wind! Low of 24 tonight with a windchill of a 18F or -7C. Got some oak logs on the fire, nice and toasty in here!

    The "S" word

Not sh... SNOW lol. Calling for some white stuff by morning, hard to believe it was nearly 80 degrees last weekend now this. Not much accumulation here in the Ottawa area but north of Toronto is under a snow squall warning, 6-8+ inches forecasted.
  9. Wow scary stuff! Glad you're ok bud. Never really see ticks here in eastern Ontario but I know there's some around. Welcome back, good luck this season!
  10. Nice to see you around here again Lewis. Sorry to hear about the divorce, sounds like it will be for the better in the end for you though. It will take time, keep your head up my friend!
  11. Woohoo! I was hoping she'd get one. How cool is that!! Way to go Carlee!
  12. I've been out a couple times over the long weekend (Thanksgiving here in Canada this past weekend). Been warm though, in the 70s all weekend. Seeing some deer but all does. Saw one little buck last weekend, but I am holding out for a big fella until at least rifle season in early November. Both Sunday and yesterday evening I saw 3 does and 3 fawns. Pretty sure it's the same group. They've been hanging out all summer together. Cool to see them in the stand up close and personal though. Also last night a half a dozen or so turkeys snuck up behind me and scared the daylights out of me. It was windy and didn't hear them walking. I guess they saw me move and they were about 15 yards behind my stand and started clucking and carrying on LOL. Today I have a day off, but unfortunately it's raining and it doesn't look like it's going to let up by the end of the day. Temps have dropped back into the 50s, Saturday's low is 27 degrees with possible snow overnight. That's more like it!
  13. Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canucks! I know it's a little late but we had a busy weekend. It sure was a beautiful weekend here in eastern Ontario. It was around 70 degrees here Sunday and 75 yesterday. Was actually hot sitting in the stand yesterday afternoon, it feels weird deer hunting in this weather.
  14. Very nice buck Pat, congrats man! Been out a few times, haven't seen a thing yet! Well I shouldn't say that, saw 3 when I was walking out about 350 yards out in the field, it was right at last light, couldn't tell ya if they were does or bucks lol. I have my goals set high until here at home bow hunting until rifle season is over. Not shooting anything that isn't mount worthy. I really hope to see that big 8. Haven't seen him in a month or so. Coyotes are moving in and some of the deer are moving out. Oh well I'm not giving up, I'm in an area where there are a lot of good size bucks.
  15. Hate when businesses have attitudes like that. We don't have either of those stores in Canada but similar ones. Haven't really had a bad experience with any of them, and with me being a licenced automotive technician I get a pretty good discount. Anything my family owns is GM, so I usually get parts from the dealer I worked at for 7 years, they're still good to me and give me my employee discount lol. I'm lucky to have a Tech 2, which is the GM scanner. Funny you mention that Mudrunner, my girlfriend's Trailblazer also flagged an O2 sensor code about a month ago, still haven't got around to changing it! William, wouldn't hurt to buy one of the cheap code readers like you were saying, then you have it. You can get a decent one for under 100 bucks. I had one from Matco that was about 150, it even read live data which was handy. Had it in my toolbox in case I was working on something other than a GM. Worked great til someone liked it more than I did and stole it.
  16. Today was the first morning in a few days we haven't had frost. It was 38 this morning, was just a degree or two above freezing with frost the past few days. Feels great. Heading out to the stand shortly. Right now its 55 but a brisk east wind at about 15-20mph. Hoping the weather man is right saying it's supposed to ease up early this evening.
  17. Nice one Anthony! Congrats! I killed a big 6 in 2004 rifle hunting, my biggest deer to date. He's on the wall. This year is my first year using my compound to hunt. There is a monster 8 around, saw him all summer but haven't saw him in a month or so. Hoping he's still around, it would make one heck of a first bow buck, and a nice addition to the wall.
  18. The moon came up big and bright last night but the clouds moved in right as the eclipse was scheduled to start. You could definitely tell when it was in total eclipse. It was super bright behind the clouds then it got darker and darker until you couldn't tell where the moon was anymore. Oh well, maybe the clouds will co-operate more in 2033 when it's supposed to happen next.:clown:
  19. Nice looking mount Don, that's a nice deer!
  20. Sorry to see that Al, what a bummer!
  21. Wow is she ever grown up! Time flies. Good luck Carlee, hope you shoot a deer!
  22. Wow, hope it cools off for you folks soon! I spoke too soon lol, only a low of 60 tonight, 72 degrees right now. When I was up at 3 this morning to feed my daughter it was 37. Oh well only a couple days of this and it's back to cooler weather.
  23. Is it cooling off for everyone else too? We are starting to creep under 40 degrees here at night now with highs in the mid 60s. Yesterday morning it was 34 at sunrise, went outside and there was frost all over the lawn. I was starting to get worried that I would be bow hunting in shorts and a t shirt lol. It was hot for most of September. Felt like July.
  24. I know Pat it's crazy! I had bought my cam and had it out July 20th. Picked my tree, started prepping the area etc and here we are September 19th and I'm still not finished lol.
