OUTSIDER replied to ousoonerfan22's topic in Land & Wildlife Management
Re: crab apple tree with yellow fruit? crab apple tree with yellow fruit?
OUTSIDER replied to ousoonerfan22's topic in Land & Wildlife Management
Re: crab apple tree with yellow fruit? Its really hard to tell which type of crabapple it is....there are only countless different varities and culitivars of crabapples. And grafting them is pretty hard, better pick you up a few horticulture books. -
Re: stand hieght??? 30-45 feet

Re: wd40 fanclub... used to know a guy who would spray it on bread, put it on a hook and catfish with it. I told him he was polluting the stream...he told me it caught fish. He has since died....of non wd-40 related causes

Re: Tell me what you think of my stand set up. I like my stands up alot higher than that....and that fence would be the only hinder in the setup, looks to be a pretty nice place to hunt.

I've gone nocturnal...
OUTSIDER replied to SUGARKAHNE's topic in Nick Beacham's Youth & Hunting Room
Re: I\'ve gone nocturnal... I dont sleep that much at all, not much more than 6 hours at a time, the norm is more like 5 or 4 hours per night. College is wonderful -
Re: I love my atv!! Yep, there are some who follow the laws, i failed to mention that one of the people that hunt next to us is pretty old and he drives to his hunting blind/shack and sits in it, there aint nothing wrong with that i dont guess, he is older and it would be a pretty far hike for him. But like i said he dosnt' ride round looking for deer like the other guys do. And to beat it all they are all young, like 16-20, makes no sense, i am 24 and i just love to get out and beat the brush. I guess some people are just lazy. I used to get my deer with the ATV but this year i will either be draging them out or gettin the ole John Deere....my stance on the ATV thing is a bit on the hazy side at the moment. Ha Ha

Re: First ever bow kill Thats a mighty fine first kill...I dont have any photos of my first archery kill, it was a yearling doe.

Re: Fletching contact with Trophy Taker That depends, if they have it tied into the string you prolly gonna have to go back to the proshop and have them adjust it, it happend to me once, took just a little tweaking and i got it perfect, If you can slide it up on your string it may fix the problem, but i just dont like the idea of sliding the string because of the friction that may cause to the individiual strings of the bowstring. Hope i helped somewhat. I have been shooting trophy taker for prolly 4 years now, just about ever since they came out

Re: Antler restriction poll .

Re: Antler restriction poll Swamphunter, you do what you want, shoot whatever you want, thats just fine. I do realize that there are many different types of people here in this site, from different states, yadda yadda yadda. But in my mind when you resort to shooting a deer just because you dont want to be skunked, well sir i just dont beleive that is hunting. That is killing for self gratification. And i think it is wrong. I would hope you dont do it but if it is legal then by all means go right a head. And....Mods...leave the post alone i'll be good and this was my last post on this one. Yeah, they needed a maybe button on the poll. There i treid to be good. And i am not tryin to start an argument.

Re: .17 HMR vs .17 Mach 2 mach 2 is for the economical hunter/plinker. It is just flat shooting, kinda pointless but i bet that thing is sure fun.
-
Re: Antler restriction poll And swamphunter you prove my point. You do not want to get skunked....so you shoot a spike or four point that next year could show some good potential. You fear losing man points at the check station so you shoot a spike or a 5 point, i hope you feel good about that. I would much rather shoot a doe because she tastes so much better mmmmm mmmm. Thanks for proving my point.

Re: I love my atv!! I am with you dave, i dont like to hear them in the woods, the people who live beside the farm i hunt on do not get off their atv's the entire first week of season. And then they have the nerve to ask us if they can drive over our place and hunt too, i say no you can walk, and they want no part of it. People dont want to do things the hard way. I cannot tell you how far i walk just to get to my hunting area, atleast a mile to bowhunt, further to rifle hunt. That isn't too far but i dont ride the atv up there. When we bear hunt we drive on the backroads then hop out and trek on foot, and its hard to tell where you'll end up that way. But yeah, atv's do distrub the woods too much.

Re: Fletching contact with Trophy Taker Your string htat pulls the rest up is too short. You need a string that just raises it up the last part of your draw. Almost guarentee thats what it is...if its not then it is hitting your riser.

Re: Antler restriction poll I keep tryin to erase my post to make everyone happy

Re: .17 HMR vs .17 Mach 2 The hm2 is alot cheaper for the ammo. They are both flat shooters, just look them up online. You cannot go wrong by gettin either.

Re: Gloves?? i have a pair of wool military issue glove liners OD green i think you can buy them for a few bucks. They are thin, and lightweight, but they will keep you warm. Thank goodness for wool.
