Re: chokes If I remember correctly, I read somewhere where the "heavy shot" chokes are not a real "tight" choke, because heavy shot does not like to be choked.

Re: Prostate Cancer (oh well) Hey Buckee, prayers going your way. By the way, whatever happened to that "freezing" treatment they had a while back that was supposed to be so successful? Some kind of cryogenic thing or something. Any of the doc's. mention it at all? Maybe it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Just a thought.

Re: New Owner of a Mossberg 835 When you get your "hands on it" and shoot some 3 1/2" shells through it, especially the 2 1/4 oz., let us know how the recoil is. Always wondered about that.

Re: Why not an autoloader?? That model has my interest too. Isn't it made in 35 whelen also? Either would be great.

Re: Slow Shower drain help? Randy, also check the linkage from the flip lever that opens/closes the drain if it has one, to see if it is unhooked and not opening. Also, since you have already used acid, be careful when plunging. Like jeramie said, use the old type of plunger, run some water in there to "seal" around the plunger while plunging. You won't have to push hard once you feel the plunger moving nothing but water (no air), then jerk it up fast. This backward flow of water in the drain will do more to open it than most anything else. But be careful when you jerk it back not to splash on you due to the acid in it. Right after you jerk it back is when the hair will be pulled up and you can remove it then with a coat hanger with a hook bent into it.

Re: Turkey Guns I think if a person is using a rifle for turkey hunting, you had better aim for the lower neck where it meets the body. Have heard of several body shot with a rifle and never found. One was chest shot, head on, with a .243 and not found, another was body shot with a .44 magnum rifle, 3 TIMES, and not found. I personally shot a grouse 3 times sitting when I was a teen head on thru the chest at about 10 yds., it finally got tired of that and just flew away, a long way. I went to where I thought it landed but never did find it, after a long long search. I think a shotgun is the way to go, IMO

Re: shotshell reloading Hi beagleman, since you have the Lee LoadAll, you can get a conversion kit for it for 16 ga. for under $20 and that's the msrp price. Probably less from one of the discount books/catalogs. Will look around in the Cat's. if I see any will get back.

Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anoter
terry264 replied to a topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anoter Beagleman, an afterthought, if that 16 ga. was made between '71 and '76, it could be their model 390 as it's one of the few listed in 16 ga. even though their description of it having a 3" chamber is probably wrong. They list it as 390, 390K-A, 390K-B, and 490A, who knows? -
Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anoter
terry264 replied to a topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anoter The old Revelation 16 ga. is probably the Mossberg 190 possibly the 190K-B version. Various screw-on or C-Lect choke, mfg. 1955-1958. Sounds like that one. Nothing fits from Sav. / Stevens. Some of the descriptions in the book are obviously mistakes though. Guess it's hard to list this many guns and not make a mistake, i.e. Mossberg Mod.390's are listed as 16 ga. with a 3" chamber, imagine that. -
Re: shotshell reloading Hi COBob, didn't mean to step on your toes, but I guess I shoot about as much clays as you shoot hunting loads. The target loads are about as cheap to buy as to load around here. But when you go heavier, the price for factory loads increases dramatically. Have you priced any on the websites recently? I did yesterday and it scared me 1/2 to death!

Did you see this on Realtree home page
terry264 replied to RangerClay's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Re: Did you see this on Realtree home page msrp is 459 to 574 on the CVA Electra, per their website. Personally I'm afraid of it. I have too many questions/concerns about this type of ignition. -
Re: shotshell reloading Where one really saves a lot of money is loading hunting type loads. When the name of the load changes to "field" or "game", the price doubles or triples. Especially magnums, one can save a boat load with them. The new Hodgdon "longshot" powder looks like a really good load for heavy loads. As soon as I can find some in stock somewhere I'm gonna have some of that to play with. If the mfr's. think their loads are worth that much, then they had better hang on to them, IMO.

Re: shotshell reloading Use the Lee "Load-All II", and have for a long long time. Does a great job and loads 2 3/4 or 3 in. shells (12 ga.). Am going to try some 3 1/2" on it some time. If I either raise the wad guide or remove it and use the separate one I have had for 40 yrs. it may work, if there is enough length in the dies to reach. May have to do some appalachian engineering on it to work but I think it will. Between it and my little hand loader (in the box type) it can be done.
