  1. Congrats on the win,Classy Cutters.... Had a great time looking forward to next year.
  2. Hey guys just wanted to tell yall i enjoyed this years comp. Hope you all have a great year. Looking forward to next year.
  3. Yea I was just messing around with it. I havent seen the octane quiver yet, no one around here carries them. Plus $125 is a little steep for me. l liked the idea of the magnets so if figured I'd see what i could come up with.
  4. Hey guys I just finished a quiver modification that I’ve been working on for a couple of hours. What do yall think? I used a piece of 1\2” plexy glass just so I could see everything. I used 15lb. 1\2”x 1\8” magnets with a 1\8” center hole. Holds my arrows firm and they are easy to load because I tapered the holes, plus the tip won’t get dull because of the center hole. Just thought I’d share it with yall. (It is practice blades but you get the idea) I’ll try to get some better pics my battery is going dead so I didn’t have log to take pics. Loose parts Head with magnets How head will be held in quiver. It will be mounted on foam so no vibration.
  5. Hey guys are any of you still hunting. Its been a fun couple of months.
  6. Congrats on a nice bird, Nice pics and story also. (is that a hospital in the background)
  7. Thats one for the books for sure, congrats to you and your friends for an awesome year. Nice pics also
  8. If the other hunter heard the bird then you can bet that they will be back in there in the morning also, whether you are there are not. Some people just don’t care. I would try to roost him if at all possible then I would get in there in the morning early and set up. Try to get him off the roost, but sounds like the way he’s acting (waiting for the hen to come to him) he might be a little call shy. Id get in close and call very little and sit tight he’ll come back to check on you. I would stay quiet if you don’t do anything with him at daylight (if there is another hunter in there) but about 10am or so I would get a little more aggressive. I know down here on public land they will gobble good at daylight but when there feet hit the ground its over until about 10, that’s when most people are out of the woods. Good luck with him
  9. Congrats..Glad you stuck with him.
  10. It happens it will just be more and bigger ones next year.
  11. This is just my $.02. I'd try and roost him Friday afternoon if possible. If not I'd be in there as early as you can Sat. morning. Set up in the area he flew down in or a little closer. If you can do it quietly set up a decoy. Since he did answer you last time in I would make some very very soft purrs and tree yelps. If he answers you, put your calls down and just be very patient. As it gets to be light if he hasn't flown down use a wing or your leg to simulate a fly down and just scratch in the leaves a little. Thats all I wouldn't call any more, give him a little time he'll be there to check you out. This has worked for me in the past on tough birds that are call shy or pressured. It took me 2 1\2 hours on one bird with no calling(never even got a call out) all I used was a wing. For what it's worth. A guy(outlaw) I know told me on public land birds, that when you hear them gobble get as close as you think you can get (Then go 40 yards closer) set up and make a slight tree yelp if he answers never call again. Just be ready. He will come to you even if its 4hrs later. He knows there was a hen there and he will be back to check on you later if he has hens at daylight. This guy averages more turkeys per year than I have toes or fingers. He is a huge outlaw but he does know how to kill turkeys. You just have to feel the bird out it all depends on what mood he's in. At least you know where he is. Stick with him you 'll get him.
  12. Hate to hear that Todd, I know how it feels. Maybe next year. You should try to make a road trip up to KS. Congrats on the bird bowhunter.
  13. Dont get bummed out,its still early in your season. Our season here in MS is over and the birds are just now acting right where I hunt. Just the way it goes, me and my best friend are going to take our 2yr olds out and try to have some fun calling in some hot birds. Should be fun. Give it time and dont give up it will happen. I hunt every morning after i get off of work. I loose a lot of sleep but i also get to scout out a lot of new land. (I also just love being out in the woods) My father in law Zeroed this year, he was on birds every morning but the place they were in was open and he's hunting some old birds. It was the first time in 38yrs that he hasn't taken a bird. He's not in the best mood about it, but its hunting and he'll be back in there next March. My dad hunted a bird last year for the entire season and got him on the last day. If you find a bird or you know where one is at try hunting him in the afternoon after school. Try and get him before he goes back to roost.(its not the most fun but it works) A strut zone can be in a number of different places. The best place to find them is on old road beds in the sandy areas. You will see tracks and wing marks (looks like scratches in the sand) Other places will be on either ridge tops or bottoms where ever he can see and be seen. Those are harder to find. Just depends on your terrain. Just be patient and dont give up. Remember to just have fun with it and enjoy the outdoors.
  14. Nice looking bird, congrats on #2
  15. Congrats...8yds Thats getting them in close.
  16. Nice...Congrats to you and your friend.
  17. I was just eating lunch (talking about guns) at work and had a guy say that he had a friend who had a Rem. 700 .25-06 rechambered to a 30-06. He said he didn’t have the barrel rebored, just the receiver. He said that it kicks like a mule when you shot the 30-06 rounds out of it because the barrel was still made up for the 25-06. He said the bullet must get longer when going through such a tight barrel. I was wondering if this is even possible, he said that they shot a lot of rounds through it and couldn’t tell the difference, except for the kick. I wanted to call BS but,i t’s 3am here and I didn’t feel like arguing with him. Just wanted to know if it is possible to shoot a 30-06 round out of a 25-06 without blowing the gun up. Thanks for any info.
  18. Wow...sweet hunt thanks for sharing it. Looks like your loaded up with birds.
