What about the name i said in the beginning "Team Limited" being our whole team is pressed for time this year. -
Its been an outstanding season to say the least. The Lord really blessed me, 5 hunts 4 birds the first hunt we didn’t hear anything. This was the only consecutive days off I will have all season. Now its only Sunday nights off from now on. I got one of my largest birds on Saturday, called in a bird for a friend of mine Sunday, and finished my season with a cool hunt on Monday. I was able to take this last bird in a fresh burnt pine plantation. It was like his head was glowing as he and his buddy was strutting up through the fresh burn. Their heads are bright anyways but throw in the black backdrop WOW. The morning started off real slow and I didn’t hear a bird. I was waiting on things to come alive when I heard a lot of cutting and cackling from the edge of the hardwoods. I figured it was my poaching friend and I was not happy. I eased off in the burnt pines hoping he would ease down the fire lane and I could catch him. The cutting and cackling went on for 4min straight. Ill give him this he sounded real good. He had improved his calling drastically over the last year. The more I listened the more I got to thinking it sounded like a real bird. And that’s what it was as she pitched out into the burn. Never heard one raise that much heck that early for that long and I never heard a gobbler. Well about that time 3 more hens pitch out into the burn so I make a small yelp with my Madhatter 4 track player and I hear a gobble in the distance. The hens turn my way and start scratching and dusting in the fresh burn and that’s when a huge glowing head appears in the distance. I make one more slight yelp and get ready the hens are coming my way and the one head turns into two as the two big birds are strutting my may. Three of the hens go to my left and one comes straight to me. The gobblers are now 40yds and just behind a tree when the lone hen stops a mere 5’ from me. She never makes me out and I wouldn’t dare even blink. My heart was about to beat out of my chest and finally the gobblers clear the trees. I let them separate and figured it was now or never with a hen about to step on me so I let the Nitro loose. After a few backspasms and dryheavs (yall have no idea how bad these thing rattle me, I absolutely love it) I regained my composure enough to get to my feet and retrieve my third bird of the season. It was an awesome hunt to end my season. To top it off on my way to the truck I was able to call up another nice longbeard to within 30yds (my gun was laying on my other bird) all I had in my hand was my phone but it was to thick for any good video. Rhino I would love take a few kids if I could but I only have Monday mornings off, If I could line up a hunt with a kid id sure take them. I have a couple friends that I work with who have never taken a turkey, so I plan on taking them a time or two. Its been unreal. Hope everyone else has a great season.

Well what can i say, I have very limited time this year but it has turned out to be my best to date. #2 18.4lbs 10 3\8" beard 1 3\8" spurs. Had two more birds within 50yds but my friend couldnt see either of the birds. one was over a slight hill and the strutter was shaking the ground drumming and we never saw him. Thats what makes it so fun. -
It seems like an ok app. I wish it was more like the Ducks Unlimited app(more like a hunting journal). That way it would be easy to keep up with the weather conditions and what you experienced that morning. Our state(MS) has a pamphlet that you can get and write down what you heard and saw and the area you were in and at the begenong of each season they send you that year and prior year's encounters. Kinda a neat tool.

Another nice bird, your having a heck of a good year

Time is not on my side, but The Good LORD blessed me

I’m in the middle of a huge outage at the plant where I work. I’m working 6\13hr days for the next 3months minimum and my days off are spent doing odds and ends around the house and spent with my little girl. Our season here in MS is unusual this year in the fact that we are, like most, having an early spring. Everything is happing about a month early. Our mid season lull hit around the first weekend of the season. I had one morning 2 days prior to the season opener to scout and didn’t hear a bird. So I’m at work and all my friends are doing real good this year. So needless to say I’m getting a little depressed. Ha Finally I get a day off and some free time to go, so I make the call to make sure no one else is hunting Monday , long story. I find out no one will be in there but they have hunted it every day and couldn’t do anything with a bird, good news is there is a bird to hunt bad news is he has been messed with. To top off things I find out they are burning the whole place off on Tuesday and that a dozer was in there all day Sunday pushing fire lanes. This is awesome, I’m going to an over pressured, run over, and future fire pit. Well I have one day to close the deal. Yes it will get better after the burn but dang my luck. I wake up real early and walk the 3\4mile in to my favorite listing spot. I just sit and wait for the world to start waking up. It was nice, no mosquitoes that morning and it was a picture perfect dawn. Well I hear a bird start gobbling straight down a big ridge from me on his own but he sounded like a young bird. I listened for a few more minutes and never hear another bird so I figured what the heck I’ll go play with him. As I was nearing the hardwoods through the pine’s I hear another bird between me and the original bird, so my plans to get in close were shot. I set up in the edge of the plantation pines about 30yds from ridge I wanted to be on. I let things settle down and started a soft tree yelp and purr with a 4 track player from Redbeard followed up by another soft yelp with my mouth call. As soon as I’m done I hear both birds hit the ground about 100yds apart. I call one more time and get ready. One bird walks up the ridge in full strut straight to me, it’s so early that all I can tell is he has a full fan and he is legal. With the short amount of time I have to hunt I didn’t watch him to much when he hit 25yds I let the Nitro’s eat. As he was flopping the other bird gobbles so I start calling to him, just messing around. After 5 min of calling I had him 30yds behind me strutting and drumming for 10min. I actually went blind trying to turn my head around to see him. Bad part was I was sitting on my phone so I couldn’t record him. After he walked off I got up to see my bird expecting a two year old. Boy was I surprised to find out what he really was, prob my best eastern to date. I just sat and watched the sun rise and thanked God for the experience and the awesome sights. You couldn’t have scripted it any better. From the time I sat down till I pulled the trigger was about 5min. My little girl wants to go on my next day off so maybe the other bird will give us a show, not worried about getting him just want her to hear one and maybe even get to see one. Just goes to show that every bird has his day and I was blessed enough to be on his ridge on that day. Who would have thought that a bird like that would come in on such a string. -
That is a great pic. good luck with him
