  1. Indiana-no class required, can go for the lifetime carry permit for $100. HB
  2. Buckee- Amazing how when you flip that image around it really "enhances" the rack on that buck! HB
  3. I'd have tried a CO2 discharger, if it was me. HB
  4. The .44 Mag is a great deer round within it's range limitations. Mine is fond of taking multiple deer out of a group and dropping them within sight. It does it every year. I have a 4x Leupold scope on a Wichester 94. It is also mondo effective on squirrels, even giant Indiana fox squirrels. The exit wound from cheap Winchester White Box 240 grainers: Two does shot within 30 seocnds of each other: The .44 und der sqvorles: HB
  5. Anyone remember his epic mountain man trek he and his buddy took on mules? They traveled South to North throught the Rockies hunting and living as they went, and the goal I think was to make it to Canada. His daughter or somebody used to post updates. It was awesome. Rich was a sporting goods distributor or something to that effect, so he got to live his passion to some degree. Nice guy, to boot. RIP, bluelk. HB
  6. Left over Bambi Stir Fry with extra hot sauce, jonagold apple, and a strawberry yogurt. Coffee and a big glass of water to wash it all down. HB
  7. All that and not one cuss word. THAT is impressive. Pretty dang funny. HB
  8. Statistically nationwide, it is far and away falls from treestands. HB
  9. I have been solo daddy for a minimum of two days a week for eight years and three kids. I am a freaking blackbelt in diaper changing. Tailgates, treelawns, grocery carts, I BTDT. My oldest one used to never just poop, she exploded. Every time. Never stayed in the diaper. Shot right up the back to the hairline. Try cleaning up that at the grocery store. Kyle-don't lick the brown mustard off your hand if you haven't actually used brown mustard today...it's a trap! HB
  10. I was still in school, and I cashed in a CD I was left by Grandma and got $1.85 in change. So I had a great gal, a black '84 Monte Carlo and $1.85 to my name. What else did I need? Do the best you can with what you have, bearing in mind her tastes, and you will be fine. HB (Married 16 years next July.)
  11. A smaller (volume) charge of 3F will have the same weight as a larger (volume) charge of 2F. If you weigh out your charges, then you should be OK, if you volume measure (almost everybody does this) then you can back it off some to get the same charge with the 3F that you used to have with 2F. How much, you ask? Can't tell you that off the top of my head. HB
  12. My 2 year old was out with me yesterday helping fill wheelbarrows with dirt with his little steel shovel. My 6 year old loves to stack firewood (althought he reaaly should wait until it hits the ground from being split before he runs in there to get it!). My 8 year old GIRL can out-wrestle all the third grade and most of the fourth and fifth. I am NOT going have those type of sissies in my house. Period. HB
  13. Hey whippersnapper, those are bifocals... KIDS, sheeesh. HB
  14. Shooting at a foam deer target helped me some. Mostly I try to focus on the mechanics of the shot, and that focus just like how you have to focus really hard on distant targets is what gets me through the shakes. After the shot at an animal, I ALWAYS get the shakes and I just let them roll through me. Part of the package, just make sure I have a good spot to sit all staked out so that when my knees go wobbly I can sit. HB
  15. Glad mama is ok, Mark. Close shave for sure! Please let us know what "they" say about the failures. HB
  16. If you found a pile of gold on public land, would you go online and tell everyone? If you knew where there was a stash of raw diamonds, would you post it on Craigslist? Do you want to pay money to lease hunting ground? I am just saying. HB
  17. The downside the the Ruger is that there aren't a plethora of parts like with AR's. (I am assuming that parts are not interchangable with AR's, but I do not know this for a fact.) I have 2 DPMS rifles, one shorty and one varmint configuration. Good value, good performance. Have not owned other brands, but am very happy with them. Might talk to your department AR armorer and see about buying it piecemeal and having him assemble it for you. That way you can buy the upgrades you really want without having to pay for the stuff you don't. The lower rec. is the only serialized part you have to buy through an FFL, and that is less than $200. Don't forget Brownell's sells to officers at a discount, and there may be others that do the same. Get a Brownell's AR catalog and use that as a reference, if nothing else. You have PM. HB

    Simply amazing!

    A) He is an example of what good, solid, well-raised country folks are and have been in this country. Kudos to him for having the courage and presence of mind to handle that situation like that. If young black kids want to emulate a young black man, I sure hope they pick this fellow rather than some rap singer who is the opposite of Kaleb Eull. Also props to his mother for raising him to be who he is, looking out for his little sisters and the other kids. This guy may have a lot to learn about life being only 18, but he has the right stuff to be great man. I feel very strongly about this. With guys like him coming up, there is hope for America. B) He is a stud prospect! With size like that, apparently some speed since he handles the ball, and a good head on his shoulders-he could really do it. The NFL is a pipe dream for 99% of high school football players, this kid could do it. I hope he does well and continues to take care of his family. HB
  19. Wish I had the scratch, that 99 would be mine! It looks really nice. Wood looks very good, is the butt stock original? Any cracking on the wrist? HB
  20. Nothing sweeter than a new baby girl, and yours is a cutie! Congrats, Ben! (Your middle one looks like a pistol, is she?) HB
  21. I had also heard that if you apply equal pressure to all part of an egg, that it would not crush. Never did get all the egg off Grandma's cabinetry and kitchen drapes. Sorry Grandma. HB
  22. "Sit, stay, good buck!" HB
  23. I was just joking, but deer are curious about gutpiles. HB
