  1. Have you looked at the Genesis bows? We've used them for Hunter Safety for the past couple of years. Sounds as if they are comparable to the Darton you are looking at. If you would consider the Genesis, get ahold of me at work and let me know. I can check and see what price I can pick one up for (I can get a discount;)).
  2. I also use the Arctic Shield boot blankets. I wore them over my 400g thinsulate boots from Cabela's with a good pair of wool socks and my feet have never been warmer. And at only about $30 a pair they are alot cheaper than a pair of boots.
  3. I don't get to claim my payments as an expense. The judge was kind enough to let me claim my daughter as a tax exemption though.

  5. Hey guys. Jeff checking in here. Been out the past two weekends even though it's been warm. Haven't seen anything but does (nothing close enough to take a shot and get some venny in the freezer though). I do have some big deer on the camera this year. I'll be hunting with bow, rifle, and muzzle-loader.
  6. Should of saved your money. I learned the hard way. I bought one of those last year and forgot to take it out with me. I made the same noise it makes by blowing into my hand and called a deer in close enough to shoot it with the bow. So to answer your question...Yes, it will work now. Good luck!!
  7. One more request to get The Sportsman Channel added to Dish Network programming is complete! Thanks for the link. Couldn't be any easier.
  8. I was in Cabela's last Saturday and they had a Wildview 2.0 megapixle camera on sale. With the sale price and the rebate it had the camera went for about $60. It looked real easy to operate too. There were 3 or 4 switches to set the camera up. I'm not real sure what quality the Wildview's have but the price is cheap. Kinda wish I'd have gotten at least one. I might have to go back in the next day or two!

  10. If you plan on hunting turkeys in WI this fall did you remember to submit your application? The apps need to be in tomorrow, Aug. 1st! Just thought I'd give a little reminder.
  11. I guess my biggest concern is making sure I have it dried completely so I don't have problems with it later. It's easy to reapply the borax to the side facing up. I was just wondering what do you do for the side that's facing down. The way it's pinned I have no access to the down side to reapply any borax. Thanks for all the info though. Like I said earlier, this is my first attempt at this so it's a learning experience.
  12. That's why I hid the list. Hopefully, she won't remember what was on it. :D:D
  13. Albino are illegal to shoot here in WI but you can shoot a piebald. I haven't seen an albino and the only piebald I've seen is in my brother-in-laws basement. He shot one a few years ago and had a full body mount done.
  14. Don't forget to pack some rain and bring it with you. We could use all we can get! Hope the move goes smoothly! Just think, by the time you get all settled in bow season will be here!!
  15. I'm on vacation this week. My wife has to work so we had no travel plans for this week. I figured I'd spend a day or two or three at the hunting land taking care of some odds and ends and just "getting away" for a while. Well, it's now Wednesday and I've been so busy I haven't had time to do much of anything! I've been painting and replacing siding/trim on the garage. It was on the "honey do" list that's been stuck to the fridge for the summer. I haven't worked this hard in quite a while. On the plus side, between waiting for paint to dry and my "self-proclaimed" breaks, I was able to start work on a turkey tail I've had in the freezer since 2006. And I have a set of antlers from last years deer that I've been working on. I'm hoping to get away tomorrow for at least one day of life in the woods! Time will tell though. The wife gets home in about 2 hours. Hopefully, my work passes inspection and I get the go-ahead for the day off tomorrow.:D
  16. I dug the tail feathers out of the freezer from the tom I shot in the spring 2006. I cleaned as much "stuff" off the feathers as I could, rubbed borax into both sides, and pinned it out on styrofoam. I have it pinned so that the side you'll see when it's done facing up. My question is, do I leave it this way for several days and then flip it over and rerub the borax into both sides? I'm wondering how to make sure it's dried completely. This is the first tail I've done. I've gotten some good info from the forum on what to do and I'm looking to you for some more. Thanks for any info.!! P.S. If this one turns out, I've got my 2007 bird to do. Figured rather than mess up on both at the same time, I'd learn from the first.
  17. Guarenteed you'll only do it once. At least in my case, I haven't done it a second time!:D:eek::D
  18. Nice looking deer you got on camera. As for the last pic....I don't think he's a shooter.:D
  19. Great finish for sure. How many times was one ahead of the other from turn 4 to the finish? Now that's racing!! Too bad Stewart took himself out early. He would have won otherwise.:D:cool:
  20. I got one of those for Christmas last year. Apparently, my brother thought it should be an item in everyone's pack. Randy, If you want to borrow it, let me know.
  21. I've got 2 Mossberg 500 12 ga. pump shotguns. I have shot quite a few deer and all my turkeys with them...all without a scope. Great gun for the price.
  22. The first full week of November should be prime this year. I think the rut should kick in the last week of October first week of November this year.
