I leave one of mine on a heavy trail that leads up to a water hole. I get big bucks and little bucks young does and old. The main thing about cameras is to leave as little scent behind as possible, try not to handle the cam too much and brush up against the vegetation. Wear rubber boots or your hunting boots. Leaving scent behind is what spooks the deer. I leave my cameras out year round and check them at least once a month. I also check them in the middle of the day when the deer are bedded down as not to spook them walking to and from the cam. The best thing is to have a solar charger so you don't have to worry about the batteries . Come hunting season i do check the cams more often to see whats out there.

I say go ahead and plant. With the cool moist evenings we have been having and rain in the forecast the soil is holding a ton of moisture to germinate the seed and get a good start. I usually plant my fall plots around this time and don't even worry about the rain, and they come out great every year. The early morning dew is enough to get things going. Happy planting.

I have tried alot of calls and for me the best has been the TruGrunter hands free deer call. Just as it says its hands free, never freezes up in cold weather , it has 4 different tones, and very effective.

Whisker biscuit for 5 years now, my arrow falling off or a sliding noise when drawing back is one less thing to worry about when taking that shot of a lifetime.

I disagree , although i love my climber and my ladder stands, one branch can ruin a set up with a climber and the angle of of tree and branches with a ladder. Hangons can go just about anywhere. Any height , in that perfect little pocket nothing else could fit, and could be the most comfortable. There are so many to choose from , so if any, i would get one with a folding seat rest so when your standing its out of the way. A large platform is also a good thing. Just keep in mind that hangons you can move around any where you want them at any height as climbers and ladders you cannot. I have a couple of Gorillas stands that are very comfortable and have padded backrest which are very reasonably priced.

Hey team, i went up to Wisconsin this past weekend and saw loads of birds. I seen 1 nice tom in the yard and i forgot the camera in the truck:mad: I put out the game cam yesterday morning and look what showed up, a bearded hen. This bird is definitely on the hit list. I have 2 tags so one of them has her name on it. Congrats Griz on an awesome bird:) -

Hey team, my seasons are May 1- 7 here in Illinois and May 14- 25 up in Wisconsin. Unfortunately i will only be able to hunt 6 days combined , 2 in IL and 4 in WI. Usually by now i am swamped with game cam pics of birds from up in WI, but i didn't think of setting them out, there was so much snow anyway the last time i was there. I will be going up there soon to set up the cams, but i will video some birds that are in the yard all the time. My dad would always tell me about what toms he was seeing and would video them for me and that would really get me pumped up for the season, so its really hard for me to feel the same way. I know he would want me to carry on the same way so i am going to try my hardest not to let things get to me. Sorry for the emotional stuff but i will try to participate more often. I will try to get a video on of a big tom i have been trying to get the last two years. I don't know if he made it thru the winter yet but besides the huge double beard , he has a gobble that would make you laugh. I don't have it in the video but i know its him when i hear it, its like no other i have heard. -

Hey team just checking in . I havn't been on in a while because my dad passed away a month ago and ive been really depressed. I will try to get on more often so don't rule me out. I will be hunting here in Illinois in a couple of weeks and seen some big toms strutting around. Then in may, i head up to Wisconsin for the last two seasons. I wish everyone the best of luck and congrats to sportsman on your bird. -
I went up to my huntin grounds here in Illinois this Monday into the sanctuary looking for sheds. Its about 120 acres of swamp and woods that i never enter except this time of year. I didn't find any this time but did see a couple bucks that had dropped. I will probably go 1 or 2 more times looking again. I was able to get some nice pics of some young bucks but did not see any giants . Seeing these guys gets me really hyped up for next year.

I am a food plot junky. Between here in Illinois and Wisconsin i have about 15 acres of food plots. All of which no longer have stands on them. I placed my stands on trails to and from the plots to take the pressure of of the plots. I mainly have food plots to help with the health of the deer and get those bucks to there full potential. Some plots i have don't have stands anywhere near them but are close to where their bedding areas are and i know they will utilize them. Personally my food plot success is seeing and knowing the deer are using them and not just basing success solely on whether i harvested a deer because of them, but those are my own personal goals.

I use the Cherokee inflatable decoys. I have tried all kinds and these have been the best for me. They came out with a new line up including a full strut that i will try out this spring. They have molded lifelike heads that are the most realistic i have seen on a decoy, especially for the price which can't be beat. Here is the link. http://www.cabelas.com/hprod-1/0054466.shtml
