Hey team, congrats Ambuscher on your triple and everyone else who has scored. I hunted here in IL last weekend and had a shot at a nice 8 pt., but right now he is not what i want, also had shots at 2 does but due to the warm weather neglected to shoot. This weekend i seen a monster 10 pt. this morn. but was out of range and on a hot doe, seen a couple small bucks chasin does in late morn. , other than that the day was shot from strong west winds which work totally against me. I will be headed out in the morning and will hunt all day, the bucks are really chasing hard and it should be a good morning cold and light winds:) Hopefully i can connect on a big boy to get some points, but i am confident I will at least get a doe before the season is over. -

Hey team, congrats to everyone that has scored, i see we are in second place , on the road to #1:). I have been hunting the past 2 weekends here in IL and the week before last up in Wisconsin. The week i spent in WI didn't produce anything but does and small bucks . The does i passed due to my schedule and warm weather. Last weekend here in IL I seen a total of 8 bucks, 6 I had shots at 2 were close enough but never gave me a good shot. One of the two was a monster 11 point, there were 2 others i probably should have taken but they will surely be trophies next year or good eating toward the end of this season:D This past weekend was a washout due to the high winds. This coming weekend looks very promising, the bucks are really starting to move around here and i have always seen shooters at this time, hopefully the wind is in my favor. Good luck to everyone else. -
I use the Cabelas Still Hunters. This is the second season and could not be happier. They kept my feet very warm and dry. They were comfortable to walk and stand in, not to mention great ankle support on those long days standing the stand. I normally wear a size 11w, but i went to the store with my insulated socks and found that 13w was a perfect fit. You don't want your feet too tight in a shoe, that's the quickest way to cold feet.

Hey team, had no luck the weekend. Sunday morn. hunted the swamp and heard deer moving thru just before light and seen nothing the rest of the day. Monday morn. hunted the swamp again and once again heard them moving thru just before light. Decided to hunt the edge of a 2 year old clear cut across from the swamp and "I'll be a son of a @*!!" , some scumbag stole my stand:mad:. So i walk down to another that i had about 300 yds. down on the same edge and what else, gone:mad::mad:. Both trees left nothing but the steps that they tried to take but could not get them out. Now i am so pist off i don't even want to hunt but i figured getting up in the stand would calm me down so i scrambled to my food plot stand. (hoping it's still there) Finally got up in the stand and was up there not even 5 min. and a doe and fawn came out. About a half our later 2 more does came out, then another. Then about 10 min. later another doe comes busting out of the corn and chases all of them out of the clover right underneath me and starts fighting on its hind legs with another , and then they all take off in the woods. It turned out to be an OK night after all seeing all that. Now i will have to invest in a couple more stands and locks for all my stands and maybe some cameras for trespasser's. This weekend i will be huntin here in IL , hopefully the winds stay out of the east like they say, I always see a ton of deer with those winds. Good luck everyone. -
I have used a bullet camera attached to my hat and my camera in a hip pack. The video and sound quality was excellent, but the only downfall is that you cannot zoom. For the best footage filming by yourself, without worrying about movement and noise (especially in a stand) this is a great setup. If you need details on everything you need let me know.

Hey team, looks like i will finally get out in the woods this weekend. I will be heading up north to WI after work tomorrow and will be up in the tree Sun. and Mon. Hopefully those bigguns are still around. I am anxious to also check my trail cam. Its supposed to get down into the 40's at night so it should be good in the mornings. I am not sure if i will take a doe if given the opportunity because of the warm weather, but them tenderloins sound mighty good right now. Good luck to everyone else. -

I agree, although you can purchase a gun deer license during the season and use it the same day. Go figure:confused: -

Well I never did make it up north the weekend , and boy was it hard to make that decision. I figured at least this coming weekend I will have 2 full days to hunt and hopefully it will cool down some. Hopefully something else does not come up by then. Any decisions on a name yet? -
That really stinks:mad:. It has never happened to me yet, (knock on wood), but i have thought about putting another camera up high in an opposite tree in case it does. I figured i would take my climber to get up and down. Now the more i hear of this happening i think i will do just that .

Only in cold weather, as long as your still i don't think a deer can make out what you are , how many times do you get close enough to deer for it to recognize what a human face looks like anyways. A couple of years ago i had a decent 3 1/2 year old 6 pointer walk right under my stand , I intentionally made my face stick out clear as day and hissed at it. It looked right up at me, 20 feet away starred for about 10 seconds an just put his head down and kept walking. I think that in high pressured areas it might be helpful but those deer i think pick out a silhouette up in the tree before a face, but what i always tell people is to do what ever you feel will help your chances for success. (legally that is )

Hey team, i had planned on hunting this weekend but now i am undecided whether to go this or next weekend, only because i bought my WI license today and forgot about that stupid 3 day wait:mad: which would only give me Monday to hunt. I guess I will have to decide by tomorrow , anyways good luck to everyone else. -
Not sure about southern IL, but the first week of Nov. has always been about the best time to be in the stand for me. I have always seen a lot of big bucks around that time. Nobody knows exactly when the rut is going to kick in , they can only predict, but i would say to keep your date in my opinion.

Good luck c_lou with your hunt this weekend and everyone else that's hunting . Unfortunately i won't be able to hunt til next weekend, it's killing me because i haven't missed opening day in over 10 years:mad: , but I'm just glad it's finally here. -
Welcome to the forums. You have some great looking work, wish you were closer.

I've been using the NAP Spitfire XP expandables. They leave a massive entry and exit wound and i don't have to worry about o-rings or rubber bands like most other expandables.
-
I will tell you one thing, you will not get a better warranty and quality assurance from any other brand of clothing, or any other Cabelas branded items , guaranteed! Based on experience if Cabelas has an item that i like i do not hesitate to buy it.
-
Good luck, i know that feeling:)

Great looking deer!

Hey team , just checking in. Looks like a great team we have and look forward to chattin w/everyone. I will be huntin in Wisconsin in 2 weeks and then here in Illinois in October, then back and forth thru out the season. I posted some pics of some deer I will have a chance at up in WI. in the photo & video thread. As far as names go i was thinking of The TreeStanders , The BoneHeads , The BloodTrailers -
Got a ton of pics this time around and was pleased to see these deer. Hopefully i will be lucky enough to see one while i am in the stand, still in velvet would be a plus.
