  1. Guys I'm going to try and get some pics and then I will send them to someone that can post them.
  2. Let me first start off by saying that I'm absolutley tickled pink to tell everyone this, a real close friend of mine took his 12 yr daughter out the first night of the Iowa youth season last night and she laid the smack down on a 158 6/8" 13pt that they have been watching for the last 2 weeks. She went out last year and was unable to get a deer in front of her with the schedule she has with basketball and school but made it a point this year to get out. Her little brother (hunter, 6) and little sister (molly, 9) both shot AWESOME bucks last year for their first deer. The bad thing is that on the last 3 bucks I have been working and had to come over and see them the next day. Tim also had a great year last year, he shot a 229" 28pt that was featured in North american whitetail magazine. That made his 4th booner in 4 years. I dont know if Maggie will read this but I wanted to share her awesome success with everyone!!!
  3. I have no clue how the deer hunting is in Pennslyvania but this statement of deer being brought in for genetic dispersing is very far fetched!!! The reason that the midwest (iowa) has a good deer herd is due to some AWESOME QDM, NOT from breeders coming in and breeding the local population. No rifle season, and no gun season during the rut. This are just a slim few reasons of the deer herd.

    Im such a Moron

Hang on just a minute here!!!!!! Where was my $40 for pushing you 60 yrds in over a foot of snow in the FREEZING cold temps, just after a blizzard came through?????????
  5. I also use one but I cheat........I take about 9" of black d-loop material and put through the hole below my grip and melt the ends together. Cost about $1.50 not bulky and serves its purpose.
  6. Havent seen a bad snake????? Anything that makes me change my undies and cry like a little girl is bad.... poisonous or not!!!!!! I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I think that same thing when I watch a hunting video and they shoot a deer that I think is kinda small or something that I wouldnt shoot. Then I realize that it doesnt matter what I think about it. Hunting has turned into such an industry sport with the almighty dollar winning the battle. People complian that they lost their hunting land to a lease or a rich business man who has the money to buy the land you hunted with your family for years. This is the reason why. We worry about the rack so much that some of us are consumed by it. I will admit that I set goals for myself of not shooting anything under 150" every year. If I dont meet that goal then oh well I ate a tag. But when someone shoots a 90" basket rack and they are tickled pink then I'm normally happier then they are. Stop worrying about what everyone else is shooting!!! If they are happy then why shoot them down and criticize them for it??
  8. Congrats and keep up the great shooting.
  9. There is a BROAD area when it comes to having sponsors. If you shoot for a shop you could be on a co-op program. This is where you shoot through the shop for a company. Example is I'm a co-op shooter for hoyt through Buck Hollow sports. In order to become fully sponsored by a company then you will need to make some waves in SERIOUS shoots. Not just your local 3-D's or indoor shoots. I know of 2 Pro-staff shooters, 1 for Mathews and 1 for hoyt. These guys are in the shoot-off in vegas, have great scores at nationals, including the mathews shooter to get in the shoot-off at nationals. A good thing to start doing is to print off all your accomplishments. Whenever you do good print off the results and keep them in a folder. When you try to get sponsorship you can show them these.
  10. 2 0utta 3 I have been to Bahrain and Diego. Let me tell you, it sure is a rough time on a tropical Island. Try the fishing while your there.
  11. Carter 2 shot, haven't found anything crisper.
  12. Re: Got my first ASA check today. Hey congrats MCH!!!!! Like you said it is always nice to make alittle money with your bow
  13. Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Good luck guys, your very fortunate that you can shoot it. Keep us posted on how you guys do!!
  14. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Well the last shoot wasn't what I was looking for but I will take it. I shot the Iowa state indoor last weekend and shot both BHFS and Freestyle. Freestyle was a 57X which got me 2nd BHFS was a 56X which also got me 2nd. In the BHFS there was a shoot-off between me and another guy. Well needless to say he got me in the 2nd scoring end of the shoot-off. I hadn't picked up my bow since state and in all honesty really had no urge to but.......... I went today and shot a bit. BHFS 300-58X Freestyle 300-60X. Sure wish I could get that 60x with BHFS gear.
  15. Re: 10 year old son Awesome!!!! Tell him congrats!!
  16. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Like I have said before and also have been told, it don't matter what you shoot in practice it is what happens when it counts. It is just nice to finally get over that hump and finally shoot one.
  17. Re: Thumb release You can use any thumb trigger release for hunting. There are some that you can actually clip right on to the d-loop and leave them hanging until you are ready to shoot. Now as far as if they are more accurate then a index release..........no the release themselves are no diffrent, it is the way that you use the release that makes it accurate. The reason that so many shooters use the thumb trigger release is because a majority of them use backtension when using them. Now we have started a completely diffrent subject As far as your question yes- you can hunt with them No- in my opinion they are no more accurate then a index release.
  18. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Been trying to get things together after 2 very bad shoots. Monday Freestlye- 300-57X BHFS-300-59X Tuesday Freestlye 300-56x (not sure what happened) Wednesday BHFS-300-57X Freestlye- 300-60x. I've been toying around with Freestlyle but I don't shoot a lense, just a long stabilizer. I shot my personal best with that it today 300-60x.

  20. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores
  21. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Don't worry I will be sending you a bill You already knew the things that needed to be done its just that now you are applying them to your shooting. I bet you thought I was messing with ya when I said don't worry about the pin weren't you I will however give the credit to someone who has gotten me to where I'm at now and that is an old man named Mike (hope he don't read this) Keep shooting those X's we are going to need them at sectionals.
  22. Re: Vegas Sight Moving incident. Tony I'm glad that you decided to post this because it has a large impact on the archery community. The thing that really upsets me about this whole thing is NOT that he moved his sight. The "pro" in question has shot alot freestyle which is completely allowed and maybe he was just thinking he was shooting freestyle. Accidents do happen and mistakes are made. HOWEVER...........when someone brought the infraction to the "pro" he blew it off and stated "it's no big deal, we do it all the time." He blatatanly admitted to the infraction like it was no big deal and kept on shooting. Now he shot the same class that I shoot and on NUMEROUS occasions I have wanted to change my site in the middle of a shoot but I knew that I couldn't because of the rules. The "pro" did this and did nothing to make it right. I always felt that this "pro" was a great guy for the archery community and an unbelievable shooter. But now I honestly have no respect for him and doubt that I never will. It's to bad that it happened and it has given a black eye to a division (BHFS) that has enough contraversy in it.
  23. Re: PSE Wins Vegas What we can't even talk about what happened this weekend??? Kinda of a big thing in the archery world don't ya think?
  24. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shot a 300-22x on the vegas face the other night. I have never shot one before, just a boat-load of 299's and 298's. I finished with a 300-22X. Finally got that monkey off my back. Now if I could only get that 300-60X I would be happy.
  25. Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores After a good start to the indoor season I started to drift off on my score. After trying new things within the past 3 weeks I have come to one conclusion...............Don't fix what aint broke. I had recently changed my anchor, grip and release thinking that I should listen to others on what is working for them, thinking that this would help me with improving my score. WRONG 300-50x,300-48x,300-46x 299-48x. That is how things started gradually going down hill. While I was shooting today something hit me like a mack truck. "Why in the world am I not shooting MY style.?!?!?" Not what others are doing or the supposedly proper form. I went back to my ol'trusty index finger release and anchored my thumb behind my neck. 300-59X was the result. The one X that I missed was out by a mere 1/8th of an inch. I guess what I'm saying is don't go with what so and so is doing if what you have is working!
