Stop the random slaughter of migrating birds in Malta
ultratec1 replied to FalconerKitty's topic in Politics
Not to sound like an insensitive jerk or anything but............... there are alot of more important things in this world that need action taken upon before some birds in a far away land like Malta. Sorry but I'm thinking that the un-employment rate, child abuse, murders, cancer, AIDS, parkinson disease are alittle higher on my priority to see fixed than a bird in Malta. -

ultratec1 replied to Straight Shooter's topic in Target Archery
Well I got back from Vegas on Monday, didnt shoot the way I wanted to but ended up in 3rd. I also switched out the short 12" stabilizer to a 30" black max to get ready for the Deer classic, shot a 300-24x vegas face. Gonna try to shoot again this week and see how it holds up. -
2010 Archery Tournament/Practice Scores
ultratec1 replied to Straight Shooter's topic in Target Archery
I'm trying to get ready for vegas and with the way things have been going this season and as busy as I've been with the little addition to the family I havent had a chance to shoot like I normally would. I went to the range the other night and couldnt get my pin to hold stead at all. I mean nothing, it also felt like I was to long on my draw but I have shot 27" for 3.5 yrs now. So after getting extremely frustrated I shortened the draw down to 26.5 and played with the tiller. Turn around put my site back on and shot a vegas round. 298-21. The 2 bad shots were my fault and I knew before hand that I needed to let down. Well I went to the range again the other night and ended up shooting 299-25X. Once again that bad shot was one that I knew I should have let down and started over. Only 2 more days til I leave for Vegas. -
If your looking to speed up your bow get a dozen Easton Lite speeds. Get them in 400 spine and cut them off as you go, figure out what length they fly best for you and then cut the rest of them off at that length. Just remember to use hot melt and not gorilla glue or any kind of super clue/ cement. Problem solved.

Man you think your bad... I got a 2006 red ultra-elite with 3000 limbs cam and half for $175!!!!!

2010 Archery Tournament/Practice Scores
ultratec1 replied to Straight Shooter's topic in Target Archery
Shot the Kansas City shoot-out this weekend. Shot like pure dog crap. Got lucky and won my class but it was an ugly ugly ugly score. There is no way I should have placed where I did. I had to get in a shoot-off with another guy for 1st and luckily pulled out 3x's on the vegas face. But boy was it ugly!!!:bang: -
He was at the Iowa Pro-am and it was amazing watching him shoot. The guy was always up beat and was shooting lights out. He even shot real real well in the team event.

I'm a cop and the uniform I wear is right at $98. Now when you need at least 3 pants and 6 shirts it gets pricey. We need 3 short sleeve and 3 long sleeve. Throw in a pair of good boots that dont hurt your feet and there is another $150. There's $550 in just the uniform. Oh we do get a uniform allowance of $7 whole dollars a month:hammer1: which equals 6yrs to get that money for uniforms.

Man I love these kinda threads!!!! LOL. I have heard it time and time again how great the SEC is and dont get me wrong, Alabama, Florida and LSU are power house teams.....but the big ten has the teams to make you go home and cry. Look at the Iowa, Penn st and Ohio st games. They all played teams that had "faster" stronger offense or a west coast team that was going to out throw them and make their head spin. What happened there?? 3 wins from the big ten. 1 loss and that was Northwestern who lost to Auburn in OT. Say what you want but the big ten has one of the toughest schedules there is.

Thats why I wait until the season comes out on DVD. Cuts all that commercial crap out

I think that in the end it comes down to the hunter themselves. Who am I to judge someone on what distance they shoot?? I have more things to worry about then that. I saw a post on here that said that Bowhunting was meant to get close to the game, I would have to disagree, bowhunting meant that you could kill animals at longer distances then you could with the spear or rock you were luggin around. Like Tony said earlier, there are guys that hunt that shouldnt be shooting even 5 yrds much less 20 but then again they go hunting every year and wound animal everytime. If we were to go through this years posts about wounded animals on this site and other sites I'm willing to bet my next years salary that the majority of lost deer threads are shots taken under 35 yrds. Is it ok now because you shot it in what you deemed as the ethical zone???? Now I ask this, if you wound a deer/ animal is it now unethical because you missed, grazed, gut shot, hit a twig, string hit your arm or just plain got excited?? More than likely not. It will be chalked up to a unfortunate expierence be told later on. I have a problem with shotgun hunting, I think that there is nothing sporting about the way that deer drives are conducted and seeing 3 legged deer or finding the dead ones after the season is over, but am I going to call people unethical because their way of hunting is legal and thats what they enjoy?? Nope I just say happy hunting and be very thankful that we still have it to do. THere are countries out there that dont have that luxury unless your wealthy

If your bow was set up properly and your arrows are spined to your set up then it is you. Just gotta get comfortable with the new bow and the grip.

You guys cant tell me I'm the only one shooting indoors!!!! Come on and post those scores. Shot again tonite and ended with a 300-57. I need to really remember to squeeze with my back and not so much with my shoulders.
-
All right guys its that time of year again for the indoor season to start. Lets here some of those scores. This year I decided to go back to my roots and shoot BHFS and stay with it. So I shot Thursday at lacona and ended up with a 300-60X. Shot like pure dog crap last night and ended with a 300-53:bang:. Just seems like I was struggling the whole time. Oh well the set up I have gone with this year feels good and is shooting nice.

I've had the chance to shoot the Maxxis 31 and 35 and I also got to draw the alphaburner. Maxxis 31 is obviously 31" ATA with ALITTLE pre-load in the limbs. It also has a roller guard instead of a cable slide (not sure if I like that or not) I did shoot the Alphamax and the Maxxis back to back and must say that the 31 is a smoother drawing and shooting bow then the AM. For those guys like Tony who want that longer ATA the 35 is the way to go. Once again, alittle pre-load in the limbs and roller guard but long enough to get that string angle to work for the guys that liked the pre-parallel limb days. The alphaburner is the bow I've been waiting for. Not because of the speed, I think that speed is to often used and it sacrifices the quality of a good bow. The thing that i like about the alphaburner is the spiral cam. The spiral cam can not be used on a bow with 1000 or shorter limbs and the vast majority of the new bows have these limbs. The Alphaburner has 2000 limbs and little shorter brace height but has the alphamax riser design making it a light bow. The AB wasnt set up to shoot when I went to look at it but the thing draws like butter. SMOOTH SMOOTH SMOOTH. The spiral cam has the history of wanting to jump out of your hand due to the shortness of the valley and very little let off. HOWEVER this year hoyt has got the AB with spiral cams to 70% let off. In the past it has been 65%. The biggest thing that I noticed about the AB was that the spirals seemed more solid and less jerky than the XTR cams that were on the Maxxis and Alphamax. I really think Hoyt listened to the consumer on this one. The sad thing is that they got rid of the Ultra and pro elite series bows. Those days are gone. It is now the contender Elite. Dont get me wrong I know that there will be great shooting bows, but I will miss the Ultra's. Bout cried when the Ultra-tec went away and bout did the same when the U-elite was gone also. The Vantage elite cam out last year along with the Vantage pro ( non shoot through riser). These bows are offered once again this year and I must say that I love my Vantage pro with spirals. Solid aiming bow!!!!! Same goes for the vantage elite.

Are these guns still for sale??

What is the spookiest thing that ever happened...
ultratec1 replied to carolinakidd's topic in Bowhunting
Well everyone I would be lying if I told you that I wasnt mad. I kicked at it and it went flying in the air without me even touching it. Thats when I looked at it with the most confused look on my face, one of those "what in the......" then I realized. Came real close to throwing my gear when I found out what it was. It was one those times where you are mad as a hornet at first then think about how dumb you must have looked to the guy in the combine picking the field. Fat guy running down the lane kicking and jumping looking like someone that should be wearing a white "special" jacket.. -
There is no if and's or buts about it......Strothers is coming out with some real speed demons. Kevin is the man when it comes to designing speed bows that are top notch. I would love to shoot one.
-
Man I love my vulcan. The thing is a shooter and is a true speed bow. The Alphaburner has me excited. I mean a speed bow set up with spirals!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me oh man this could get fun!!! I will let you know when I shoot it.
-
This speed deal is really getting out of hand. If you really want to compare apples to apples then how about you take the Mathews or PSE you are talking about set it up and see just how close to IBO they really are. I'll bet my paycheck that they dont produce the numbers they are advertising even at the 70-30-350. Perfect example, I know of a shop that set up a monster @ 27" draw 65lbs with a 330gr arrow. It shot 303. Now you wanna hear the funny thing............... I shoot a 07 Vulcan at 62 lbs 27" draw with a 320 gr arrow and its shooting 298. Thats a bow that is IBO for 330 at 70-30. Only 5fps faster for a bow that is 2 yrs older???? The others can preach about their "speed" but in all actuality they over advertised the real speed.
