Plus,we have the internet. You hear alot more now a days then you ever would have before. I've killed a few already in late Nov./early Dec. that either already dropped or had antlers pop off while dragging the buck. I think for my areas this is just an average year as far as dropping.
  3. The best tip I could give you is to hunt for sheds where the deer are now, this time of year.Find where the deer are feeding and bedding now and the sheds won't be far away.
  4. In the big woods or any where for that matter follow the fresh sign. In the big woods if it's hilly look for high spots.Flats or ledges are always great, but even if it's flat you'll find high spots in that area. I have one area that has a series of small gullys or dips with a high spot or small ridges running on both sides. Some are only maye 10 to 20 yds higher then the ground around it.The deer love to run those small ridges.
  5. Sweet set!! Did you ever score them? Hope you can find his matched set again this year!!
  6. Nice find!! Never saw one with a trace of blood on the base and fresh chews from the rodents, wow!!
  7. Nice find!! That's one of the freshest sheds I've seen with chews on it already.
  8. Congrats!! Pretty good history going with that buck.Hope you can add another page by finding his sheds this year.
  9. I'm in....and shedhead finds more then me...
  10. Congrats on the late find!! I think if you can live with the smell for a while it'll go away. The older antlers get real porous and soak up anything and everything.I good drying out should take the smell away. I've found sheds that fox left their mark on and bad,but over time the smell went away.
  11. Relax guys, these are those early teasers!! Every year you hear of early sheds being found or shed out buck being seen.I've shot a couple over the years in Dec. that had already dropped or antlers fell off in my hands while dragging the buck out. Most are still carrying and the BEST is yet to come. Rick...can't wait to see that monster set!!
  12. Here's some more AtL's from last year. An old one,I later found the other side. A fresh 4pt. side. A fresh 4pt. side,I matched this antler up a couple weeks later. A fresh 3pt. side. One of my smallest ever. This next antler I'm almost positive came from the same buck I've got 3 matched sets off of. Here's a little fresh 3pt. side. I had a little run with the old ones finding alot of old ones in a row. This one was another old one,but in much better shape. One last old one which makes 4 in a row.A few more meals and this one would have been history. Finally a fresh one,a little Y. Finding them in the tall grass is almost as bad as seaching the leaves. If you don't find them fresh a year and new grass coming up can make them tricky to find. Out of the fields and back in the woods.A nice little 3pt. side. Next was a sweet little Y. In that same area it wasn't hard spotting this next one. These next two finds were laying 10" apart off two different buck. The first a nice 4pt. side. The second antler a Y. And both antlers as they were found. Not 100yds. from those last 2 I walked up on this sweet 4pt. side. And last for the day was this fresh Y side. Still plenty more to come....
  13. Great pics everyone!! I started a thread last season,2009 ATL Pics. http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81677 I only had time to post a handful of the pics I took last season. In the next couple days I'll try and update that thread. I've got hundreds of ATL's.
  14. Good Luck!! We've got a good solid foot of snow laying here.Hopefully in a week or two it'll be gone.
  15. Here's most of the spikes I've got.I've got a ton of little Y's and some pretty small branced antlers too. I would have to say this one is my smallest. Here's probably my second smallest.
  16. Get it straight MK-M-GOBL!! You just cut my personal one year record of 160 sheds by 30 sheds. That's about equal to about 30 miles worth of walking and a couple weeks of looking.:D
  17. My biggest set was about 150yds. apart and the second set about 200yds. apart.
  18. Great looking sets guys!! I've got 2 sets I'd like to share. My best set was found in 07 then my second best last year in 09. Here's my best set. Here's my second best set. And heres the 2 sets together.
  19. My main goal for the new season is to hit 37 sheds to hit the big 1000 sheds lifetime.
  20. Get in line!!!I've been dreaming of walking up on a shed like that for years... Congrats again Tom,that's an Awesome find!!
  21. Not to leave you out whitetailtrax for all your help with the contest and the fun job of picking teams. THANK YOU too Sir!!
  22. Good eyes!! Yes it's one off a matched set that had dried velvet on both antlers. My first ever wt sheds like that. Both antlers had fresh blood on the bases The other side. And both together. This is what the bases looked like.
  23. I have to agree with you 100%!!!! The little ones make lousy ATL's,but I place those little dinks right up there next to my biggest sheds.....if you can find the little ones, you can find anything.
  24. Every find is a good find,Congrats!! Some here have great locations, some look alot and others don't know when to stop looking. No way can anyone compare their season to anyone elses. Post a pic of that shed....
