  1. Good eyes and great find on that snow shed!! You know your doing it right when you can find them like that.
  2. Way to go!! Love the set laying side by side.I think all antlers should be found in sets.
  3. I think I find the majority of mine in the woods.Only b/c there's more woods in my areas then anything else. Percentage wise I think grown-up fields or brushy areas where there's a mix is my best producers.Be it an old field left to grow up or the edges along a field or two different covers.
  4. Good Luck with the hunting and the sheds!!
  5. Way to go,Congrats!! Sounds like a great start!! Great pic!!Looking forward to seeing the others...
  6. These pics are from all my sheds so far this season.I get ATL pics of all my sheds I find. Half the fun is finding them, getting good ATL pics is the other half.
  7. We found our first shed of the new season Dec. 29th. Hope I didn't over do it. Thought maybe these pics would get you in the mood for some shedding if you weren't already.
  8. Thanks again guys!! It's been a good start so far. Those last 5 sheds weren't the first ones for the year,my total so far is 17 sheds now.I'll post some ATL pics in another thread. Good Luck this season everybody. The majority are still carrying, but there's sheds on the ground now...
  9. Thanks guys!! pendog there was a country road not 200yds away from where that buck was found and the deer cross it all the time.I have no doubt it was hit on the road and ran off. PotashRLS-I'm shed hunting about 30 miles north of Washington,D.C.Every year there's buck shedding early.Last year was a bad year with alot of the buck holding on late in the season with some right up until green-up. This year it's been much colder not that we ever get real cold weather.I've seen more shedding early this year over what I normally see,but not alot. I've been hearing alot of people talking about seeing early shedding this year and not just in Maryland.
  10. I went out last Sunday and had a Great day!! Found 5 sheds total,4 fresh and an old one and a dead 8 pointer. Two of the sheds were a matched set and a SWEET set at that.My second biggest set ever. I did something Sun. I never did before.I found 3 different antlers all off the same deer and all found the same day. I started off finding a fresh 3pt. side in one area then moved to another area. It didn't take long in this new area when I spotted tines. It was an old shed in perfect shape with no chews just faded from the elements. A little bit later I was walking a hedge row between two cut cornfields when I walked up on this dead buck. I left the dead buck figuring I'd pick it up on my way back covering the other side of the hedge row.Just before reaching the dead buck on my return trip it happened. I spotted a shed that stopped me dead. When you spot a GOOD shed there's no second guessing how big it is,you know!!And I've only ever found a couple truely good ones. When I saw this next shed I about fell over. After seeing this shed sitting next to my first shed found here the old shed I thought they may both have come off the same deer. They're opposite sides so it's hard to tell. I pick up my sheds and the dead buck skull and move on towards the end of the hedge row.Once there I hang the head in a pine tree for safe keeping. When I start to head towards the cut corn I spot a shed 10' away. I don't know how I didn't see this when I first got there.I hung the head and took a pic of the head hanging then when I started to walk away I saw it. This was from the angle I first walked up on it. This is from the other side of it.The big pine in the front far left of this next pic is where I hung the 8 pointer. The pine directly behind the shed in this pic is where I hung the skull. After my pics of that last shed and making sure nobody saw me almost trip over that last shed laying in the open.I started my search for the other side to that big shed I just found. To make a long story short I searched for 2 hours all around that area except the direction I had to walk out.I already had plans to come back the next day and search all day until I found the other side. There was more corn to search and further back in the woods the opposite direction. While walking out I cut the corner of the corn field watching in the corn as I went when I spotted the mate. Finding the first side it's more shock then anything.Find the mate to a monster side you already found and it's still shock, but now the excitement level is off the charts.I couldn't believe my luck. This was about the actual distance I spotted the shed from and the angle. A little closer view. Closer yet. From the opposite side. The cut corn in the upper left of this pic is where I searched first,.The hedge row where I found the first half was to the left of it. After finding this side the same side as the old shed found earlier I knew the 3 antlers all came off the same buck. How often do you find 3 antlers off the same buck the same day. The 2 left sides together. All 3 together. The set together. And all my finds for that day together. For those that remember my big set from 07.Here's that set and this new set together for some comparison. If this new set had better tine lenght it would have given my other set a run for it's money.
  11. Wow!! Congrats that's an Awesome set!! How long is that droptine?
  12. I've got a fresh matched set and another single fresh antler here in Maryland. It's still early for the majority, but there are some laying.
  13. Very nice pics!!Too bad he didn't just drop that antler there at the feeder on film. Maybe the other side...
  14. Wow,what a way to start the new season off with.Awesome shed!! Good Luck at matching that one up.Do you know if the other side has a matching drop tine??
  15. Great find!!Those different ones are always neat to find,Congrats to your brother!!
  16. That's Awesome and a Great story to behind the shed!! Congrats on that first blacktail shed...
  17. Great collection of sheds!! When you start playing with the shed pile no doubt the bug is starting to get to you. Hope your not buried in snow so you can take a walk to settle the sickness. Good Luck this year turkeygirl!!
  18. Those pedicles tell all....I'd say no to a match from what I can see. Great looing sheds though.
  19. Congrats on your friends first of the year!! Good Luck to you this year and to the rest of the shed hunters on here!!
  20. Wow,that's Awesome!! A big Congrats to Team #1!! On the other hand,I personal think anyone that found a shed or even had a chance to go out and look for sheds were all Winners.A BIG Congrats to everyone!! It's been great seeing and hearing about everyone's sheds and this contest is just a way to do it.A big Thanks to the guys behind the scenes tobbyboman and whitetailtrax that organized and kept the contest running.
  21. You weren't alone this year with having trouble with finding sheds this past season. In my areas here in Maryland and across the line in Pa. this past season was a nightmare.I saw buck chasing and making rubs late Feb. into early March. The buck held on to their antlers extra long this past Spring too some right up to green-up. The year before I found 116 antlers for a record year for me.The 3 seasons before that it was 100 plus sheds a season. This past season I was lucky to hit 72. I can tell you of others too and not in Maryland that had the same trouble. Hopefully next year things will be back to a more normal shed season....

Wow!! Now that's what it's all about.Congrats on an AWESOME set!!
  23. I saw these in the Shed contest Entries,Wow!!Some Awesome sheds and love the picsYou made out great with the elk sheds. If I remember right where you look gets a ton of other competition too, right? Congrats!!
  24. If they were mine I think I'd throw that pile away except the elk shed. For you guys don't don't know, Chris lays that elk shed next to his bed and stares at it half the night before he falls alsleep. Then again if it was mine I might do the same. Congrats again buddy,it's still one SWEET find!!
  25. Team #1 I did it again this year.I post a few finds then fall behind and then throw my fresh finds in the pile mixing them all up.Here's some pics with all my finds for the year with separate pics of all my sets.Just subtract my finds alreay posted and you'll have my total finds for the year,72 sheds and 5 sets. I knew my 100 shed year streak was in trouble........ Here's all 72 sheds. And here's my 5 sets.
