  1. Thanks for everyone's support. Along with the stuff Tim mentioned, I noticed later that they also got my checkbook, diabetic supplies and my SD cards to my trail cams. Auto insurance doesn't cover contents as mentioned earlier, it is covered under the homeowner insurance. However, I am living with a buddy of mine and do not have renter's insurance so I am not covered... tough lesson learned. Looks like I'm out roughly $2500 in gear. It's a bad deal but they are only materialistic things (other than the pics of my son and I and hunting pics from the past 2 years that were on the camera) so it could be a lot worse. Last night Tim helped put it in perspective the same way his mom did last week when he was frustrated with this year's hunts. My son is healthy and I'm healthy and that's what really matters. Another one of those speed bumps in life... thanks again for everyones thoughts. Taking care of the people who did it wouldn't solve anything... but it shure would make me feel a little better!
  2. Tim here....saw 1 doe then found reason why... The guy we thought was trespassing also had his friend with him. We found him crusing around the neighboring woodlot and field. And we wondered why we didnt see much Rodney and Clinf are moving a set and I have kitchen duty Their going to call on way back in and I have lunch on table . Fair deal! we'll talk to ya tonight
  3. hey everyone tim here on Clints logo We just got home from shopping at Wal Mart that was a sight to see. Well Im headed to bed wore out gonna un pack groceries and turn in
  4. Back in from tonights sit. Tim saw 8 does and one buck, but couldn't get a good look at the buck's size, didn't think it was a shooter. They were covered up in does all evening, I finally had to drive in to pick them up after dark because they couldn't get down. We'll try again tomorrow morning.
  5. Just got a calls from both Tim and Rodney. They both landed early and have all their gear. They should be here by 1:00 so there will be plenty of time to check bows and get showered up then head to the stand for this evenings hunt. Everybody stay tuned... I think things are going to get exciting!
  6. Just came back in from checking one of the trail cams a little while ago and had a few new shooters that showed up. Everything should be ready to go as long as mother nature will cooperate with us. It is warm and wind is not the best but looks like that is supposed to change in a couple of days. Hope Tim and Rodney have safe flights and I will see you guys tomorrow afternoon!
  7. Thanks Tim! Now lets just hope the weather will do us some justice... have you checked the countdown lately? 4 days 1 hour and 22 minutes 'til go time. You are making me nervous about Rodney, maybe 10 days will be too much! lol Actually, for anybody that doesn't know Tim or Rodney, they are some of the best down to earth guys out there. Looking forward to the upcoming hunt with them.
  8. Keep your head up... Kansas in 10 days!
  9. Good luck in Montana Tim! Lil Miss Hearbreaker needs her rest, she's got work to do here in Kansas. She has a date with a certain 10 pt Rodney has named High Right. Have a safe trip, see ya when you get here.
  10. Count me in, finally! Will get to the airport around 7pm Friday night. Won't make it in time to see Rodney but should be a lot of fun again.
  11. You are definately in an area that produces big bucks so that's half the battle, just not during hot weather- (ask Tim!) I hunt just a few miles South of St. Paul on Neosho river bottom ground. Have taken two deer in the 170's in the past 4 years, and connected with a nice 8 that Tim was after this year. (Sorry Tim, had to add salt to the wound!) From my personal experience, deer in that area are mostly typicals with a lot of mass, but have seen a few non-typicals taken. Mature bucks are easily over 200 pounds. The terrain has a lot of beans/corn mixed with scattered woodlots. We have a lot of success rattling as long as it's the right time of season. You should do your best to be here as much as possible during the month of November. I don't think you will be dissappointed!
  12. Well, we tried but the weather just didn't cooperate. We were frustrated to say the least, but all in all we had a great time and had some awesome encounters with some good bucks. It would have been even better if Tim could have put his tag on one. It's too bad he didn't come down a few days later, weather turned colder today so it should be crankin this weekend. Hopefully he will have better luck in Illinois. Rodney will be with him filming - look out Monster Bucks 17! We got to meet ksbowhntr77 at lunch and talk for a while - good guy. Sorry we didn't get to meet up again Jess, you know how those Realtree ProStaffers are! LOL Thanks for coming down Tim, we'll get 'em next year. Clint
  13. Just got a message from Tim. He is in Chicago for his connecting flight and just boarded the plane for Kansas City. Not much longer and he will be in a stand in Kansas!
  14. Who is Tim Andrus? Just kidding, Tim is a great guy. As said earlier, he is a great representative of what most of our lives are like with balancing a family, job and passion for hunting. I know he would make an awesome host for a show.
  15. I'm in, just let me know when and where.
  16. Yet another great story on a great hunt. Year after year you never fail to keep us entertained!
  17. I went with the King Strut from Flambeau. It folds up like the Feather Flex and has some better features in my opinion.
  18. Plenty of birds again this year. Still kind of grouped up as of now, but starting to split. Hopefully the weather will cooperate when you are here, it's been rainy and windy lately. Hopefully you get tagged out early and we can get some planning done for this fall!
  19. We'll be in the same "neighborhood", keep in touch as time gets closer. A lot of the birds are still grouped up around here, but starting to break off. I'll let you know how this weeked turns out.
  20. I finally got the text with the pic the other night, I was beginning to think it was a myth! What a beautiful buck and what a way to start off the season.
  21. Saw a 140 class 8pt while scouting tonight with about half of its velvet hanging off. All the other bucks, (10 total), still had theirs.
  22. Awesome, looks like your wife will have a great season to look forward to. There are some really good looking bucks in those pics. The bucks around here are finally starting to come out more into the bean fields, can't wait till season starts!
  23. Just wanted to thank our resident pro staffer Tim Andrus for taking time out of his busy schedule and letting me hang with him Friday and Saturday during the Cabelas Waterfowl Weekend in Kansas City. Not sure why, but he thought it was a little hot here in Kansas compared to NY (temps over 100). For those of you who haven't had the chance to meet him, he is truly a down to earth guy and a great representative for the hunting community and Realtree. Thanks again Tim, talk to you soon. Clint
  24. Re: Kansas Turkey I used a NAP Spitfire 100 grain, they seem to do the trick on turkeys. Thanks to everyone for their comments!
  25. Re: they aint gobblin Not sure about your situation there, but sometimes the toms won't gobble much if there is an over-population of jakes around. I have read that the jakes will single out toms and gang up on them.
