Re: CALLING ALL INSTINCTIVE SHOOTERS I suffered from that my first year of shooting 3-d's.Arrows are expensive and i was affraid of loosing them, before i knew it i was plucking the string and losing my focus on the spot... i bought soem cheap GGII's and that cured it. Hand eye also known as proprioception is used in most physical activities, shooting a bow, through practice, your eye tels your mind how much to compensate without you even knowing it, same with throwing a baseball, you want to hit that outside corner of the plate, you mind knows your body's muscle memory and what muscles are needs to make the ball go there.........all in praqctice.........aim small miss small

Re: CALLING ALL INSTINCTIVE SHOOTERS yes, Vtbowhunter... that is a form of instinctive called SNAP shooting, where there is no pause the arrow is released as soon as anchor is hit.. i use instinctive and hold for 1-2 sec when i hit anchor to focus on the target.

Re: Clean Drag Tip i actually have a friend.....well he from the northern adirondacks, who when walking dragging through a swamp dead lifts the dear over his shoulders, wraps the feet in front of his head and ties the together.
-
Re: Clean Drag Tip Thats a great idea, however depending on where you are hunting.. make sure to open those flaps as soon as you can.... the quicker meat is cooled the better:)

Re: slug guns a 1974 Rem 1100 that my grandfather left me when he passed. I use it because everytime i take it, i take him with me and eh loves the woods. It has a hastings rifled barrel witha simmons pro-diamond 2x scope, I have taken deer well over 100 yards with it on numerous occasions.

Re: Drives=Fair Chase? dude ease up!! You grouping all driver together. Why does it make a person lame to do something that is legal, i personally dont do it this way... but those arent YOUR deer, you dont OWN them...........i'm not saying its teh best way to hunt but people have the right to hunt that way..........same as those who chose not to use QDM
-
Re: Drives=Fair Chase? Well ... different stroke for different folks.... i like em, and i'm not lazy, nor lame. but thanks

Re: CALLING ALL INSTINCTIVE SHOOTERS agre'd just wanted to make sure we were on the same page, i do however believe that there is a grey area here... and some who call them selves instinctive are not.
-
Re: CALLING ALL INSTINCTIVE SHOOTERS Also there are differences physically bewteen shooting a bow and throwing a ball, accuracy and ones proprioception may be similar, but the physical acts of control are different
-
Re: CALLING ALL INSTINCTIVE SHOOTERS Doc, Read my post. I said, "some people say" not me, i do believe there is such a thing, hence the rest of my post. Oh and there are quite a few very expeienced shooters world wide that woudl disagree with you...I'm not one of them, i agree with you.
-
Re: Drives=Fair Chase? Sure they are fair chase in my mind, I do them all the time, with my father and brother, 3 man drive, we liek to call it organized still hunting. Often the drivers are the ones killing the bucks........oh and when doign a drive, there are many a slips twix cup and a lip my friend, deer always find a way out.

Re: CALLING ALL INSTINCTIVE SHOOTERS Some say there is no such thing as "instinctive " because one would use their peripherials to use the tip of the arrow as a referance point. I personally think there is such a thing as instinctive shoot, Get a consistant anchor point, Mine is my middle finger on my bicuspid. after that focus on the target (with a properly tuned bow) and Practice, practice, practice.................. Its the same as throwing a baseball, you only get accurate with practice.

Re: Mossberg 500 ? I have tried that before, it didn't really work, it did however tighten up the slide action.... which with the cost of shells isn't a bad thing. Personally the way i solved it was to when i am on stand ro walking, i wedge my hand behind the slide forcing it foward so it cannot jiggle.
-
Re: Mossberg 500 ? Honestly, Mossburg 500's are workhorses, i had a couple of them and they lasted for ever under severe conditions, but quiet they are not. I could never find a way to stop the rattle. Someone might have a secret but to me its the nature of the beast of 500's

Re: How About This????? if you look close you will also notice that the buck in the picture has an overbite!!!... i do believe that to be not too common....tough bugger:)

Yall's opinion on the Benelli Nova 12 gauge...
jgbennett6 replied to a topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: Yall\'s opinion on the Benelli Nova 12 gauge... The fore arm rattle can be solved, there is an allan bolt that you can tighten, also with the action closed, if you hit the slide release button the action automatically opens itself with teh rotating bolt, this is teh first shotgun to do this. -

Re: Yall\'s opinion on the Benelli Nova 12 gauge... Best shotgun i have ever owned..... very tough, i was given one for product testing a few years ago, and it is still my go to gun for turkey and waterfowl. 3.5" loads are fine with teh mercury recoil absorber, but honestly, i never feel it, especially when i'm shooting at game, it is a great gun made by a great company, Actually i believe it is the go to shotgun for the special forces now... -
Re: Gutting a deer with leather gloves on????? Well, i see no problem gutting deer barehanded i have been doing it all my life. CWD is not contracted through the blood, it is in the cerebral spinal fluid found in the brain, or more prodiminantly in the spinal cord. Also rabies is not contracted from blood pathogens, it is found and passed on by an enzyme that is found in an animals saliva. ..However there could be other blood born illnesses however, i dont knwo about you guys, but how many times do you just get blood on your hands, be i get in up to my elbows, I am a healthcare provider and "borrowed" a box of latex exam gloves once for deer hunting, it was a waste of time, blood was all over my forearms, and the gloves got plenty of holes in them do to bone fragments. .........The best bet to avoid blood illness, is to carry a small bottle of STERIL or CASTILE soap, it is an alcohol based water free hand sanitizer, we use it in the hospital and it has been found to be 20%more sterile than regular soap.
