So, I'm sitting in my stand and I have a 3 pt. come by chasing a doe. I couldn't help but start thinkin about it. When you see a deer either a 3 pt. or say a 5 pt. now since they have an odd # of pts. , will they always have an odd number through the years or not? Around here many small bucks get shot so you don't really have the chance to watch them from year to year, somtimes you will see a really nice buck that was fortunate to survive from yr to yr but just a question that popped into my head.

I'm counting on veterans day to be a great day to be in the woods, things pickin up a little more each day here in harrison county. Good Luck!

The better your buck to doe ratio is where you hunt, the more effective rattling will be. Because of the battle to get a doe is greater. I have one property that I hunt that i can rattle in a deer about any day I want during the rut(most of them too small for what i'm looking for) and other properties where i might get 1 buck to respond the whole season. It's just an extra tool in your arsenal that could give you that advantadge you need. And it's great when you do and that buck comes tearing in. Good Luck with it!

I have a summit bushmaster and my straps are under the platform, but my security rope that keeps the platform from sliding down too far from the climbing section always used to get caught between the teeth while climbing so in frustration I cut it one day ( now wishing i wouldn't have because i worry about it every time I climb.) Anyways, to keep them from getting caught, you could always use a bungee or something of that nature to hold them tight to the stand while climbing.

Just let him hunt the stand. I'm sure you've never missed any deer huh? You're the one that put him there in the first place so help him out, get his practice in, and teach him what you know about hunting. Be a "friend"

What is the spookiest thing that ever happened...

While climbing my climbing stand one afternoon, i got up to a point where i needed to cut a decent size branch, (climbing with no harness by the way) i cut it and it kicked back and knocked me down. I'm hanging there upside down with my feet still in the climbing straps on the stand. Knowing that no one would be by till dark, i was worried, everything I had dropped out of my pockets so I had no cell phone either. Some how after trying to decide what to do, i had the strength to pull myself back up into my stand (prob. couldn't do it again If I tried) but needless to say I thought I had two broken ankles and they were sore for a few days! Oh yea! I stuck a doe about ten minutes after that! -
Mine does it too but it's a QAD Pro and you can put it in the upward position, so i just do that so i dont have to worry about it.

I use the lumenok, IMO it's worth the price to be able to see ur exact arrow placement as the arrow enters the deer. I think they're great

I use the 100 gr. montecs, don't come as sharp as they should so I touch them up, but i'm happy with em. Fly practically identical to my field pts. Never used the others but have been leanin toward the strikers lately.

I've used a summit bushmaster for about the past 8 yrs, and it great for bowhunting, it's light and not to bulky. I'd stick with summit, really well built and not too pricy, but it's all about what you like and what you feel comfortable in.

Great looking deer!

I always leave a note or a drawn map to let ppl know where I am... I wish others did the same.

Buddy of mine has a Diamond and loves it, i'm sure she'll do you good! Good luck with it!

On the bright side, at least you were hunting and no matter the outcome we should all thank the lord for the oppurtunity to be afield!

Congrats, nice to see fellow west virginians in the forums!

My buddy showed me some trail cam pics of this 11 pt. behind his house a few weeks ago and monday evening i finally got an oppurtunity to hunt the blind at the top of the hill. Just as light was starting to fade, i finally saw two does come out in front of me but knowing that buck was traveling the area frequently i held back in hopes he would be by soon. Wouldn't you know that just after shooting light he showed up, i drew back and it was too dark for the shot so I decided to let up other than take an unethical shot. Hopefully since I sat there for about 45 min. after he was there so I wouldn't spook him, he'll show up again. I should make it back out there by next monday and If my buddy doesn't get a crack at him first, I should have some good pics to post!

Anyone have any info on this gun, I have about a week before I get my new gun and I'm pretty set on the TC omega. Just saw this gun on cabela's site and the sale price was incredible and it sounded like a decent gun. Just wondering if anyone knows much about it. Thanks!

I'm switching because for the past 3 yrs. i've shot a knight and have had some trouble with it.

thanks alot... i'm pretty sure about the omega from the reviews and things i've read.... would go for an encore or pro hunter but the price is too high for her.... I really like the omega though! thanks -
I've been lookin at both, my girlfriend is getting me the one i want for christmas. Have been leanin toward the omega but found a great deal on the genesis. Just wondered anyone's opinion on the two of them. Thanks!

A buddy of mine said that alot of times dogs will run deer till the deer gets tired because most dogs have more stamina, then attack the deer... he saw a dog on a deer that already had a bite out of her hind quarters. He talked to the game commission and they said to shoot a dog that's running a deer or at least try to get it's attention so the deer gets away. It depends how mad I was at the dog and if it had tags or not what i'd do.... i guess sometimes you just gotta deal with the pain of life.
