I got out early and set up my climber. This property hasn't been hunted yet this yr. I've only been out there once which was last night before today. So, i'm set up and i'm hearing something coming (sounds like a deer or a few deer) then i see 3 coons and i hate those things. Then i look down the hollow to see a doe. Then I heard the deepest grunt i'd ever heard. It was a really low sounding grunt so i thought it would be a nice older buck. So i'm looking through the binocs and see nothing besides the doe. Then he appeared, a nice shiny, white racked buck, as far as I could tell through the binocs he was an 8pt. maybe 9 with about a 16-17" spread. A definate shooter for this area and for me. So i give a few grunts and the doe comes towards me and he's right behind her. Then i see another doe, he wasn't really chasin either of em just hangin with em. So the first doe comes within 10yrds. of me and this is the doe he was followin and i'm goin nuts. He stayed about 50 yrds. from me though as the doe fed around me, then she went back toward him and he chased her arond for about 5 min. and then the 3 deer bed down about 60 yrds. away. They bedded for about 45 min. and then got up and walked out the hill away from me. I tried grunting, bleating, snort-n-wheez, and after they were out of sight tried a little light rattling to draw him back and nothing. I had to leave the woods early cuz i had class and i can't hunt again till friday morning, but i know exactly where i'll be. Then on my way outta the woods i walk up on 2 doe and a 4pt., the buck stood there while i was about 20 yrds. for like 5 min., i even acted like i was drawing my bow just to see what he'd do cuz he already saw me anyway and he didn't even spook. I wasn't lookin to shoot him and had to get out of there so i kept walkin and they just kinda fed out along the hill. This was probably my best hunt this yr. without killing one, I don't know why everyone in the world doesn't hunt!! Hope to post again about getting that nice buck or maybe a bigger one on friday!

Well, last yr. is the first yr. i've gotten to go down state for bow season, i always go for rifle but last yr. was a 1st for bow since my first yr. hunting. On my trio last yr. i saw 3 different 8 pts. one was about 125" and i blew the shot, and that was early season. Hopefully they're startin to chase the does around down there and i get a shot at a nice one. As far as I know all 3 of those bucks lived plus a decent 9 pt. my cousin saw last yr. and some smaller bucks with potential also so it should be a good day. I'm leavin at around 2:30, driving about 2 n a half hrs. and then once i hit the woods i'm not leaving till i shoot one or it gets dark!! I'll post the results tom. evening!

I myself use it while hunting, I've heard alot of different opinions on this but never seemed to have much of an effect on my hunting. Just wondered how everyone feels about this?

I shot my 6pt. sunday evening and really want to hunt the same stand tomorrow morning which is thursday. Is it too soon, I know there are 2 bigger bucks travelin through there alot and the buck sign there is unbelievable. Just need some advice or opinion.

Re: rain and movement? went out this evening n it was raining, slow but steady and saw 7 deer but got busted by a doe which kinda ruined the hunt

Finally connected sunday evening with a 6 pt. ... not the deer i've been lookin for but i needed meat and he offered the perfect shot. Sorry no pics, cam is broke. so here's the story! It's windy as heck n i'm playin poker on my cell phone. Around 4pm i hear a grunt behind me, look aorund nothin.. i though maybe there was a buck chasin on the flat down from me. Bout 5 min. later i hear somethin behind me n it's kinda thick there and i see this tree movin back n forth real fast sure enough this buck is rubbin it n it's 20 yrds. I put away the cell and grab my bow from the holder and he walked into this open! Here's the disappointing part, I spine him! I'm sighting n perfect then put a shot like that... i was upset about that but at least it wasn't a wound and he didn't go anywhere!

Re: Hey, look what I did today! It's great getting the youngsters involved... i don't know what i'd do if my dad woulda never gotten me into hunting!!! it's the greatest passion ever it's hard to not hunt..and all the momories with my dad even before i ever hunted make it even better

I'm only 21 and since i've been hunting which is since i've been like 10 i've already realized that it's great just to get the chance to hunt which not many ppl do... i love just being outdoors. Whether i see deer or not, it's time to myself that i enjoy!! It gives me time to think and if i see deer and get a shot at a nice buck, it's just that much better!!!

Finally got all day saturday off, and the forcast says rain and wind!!! Oh well, i'll be out ALL day anyways, i figure you can't see many deer from the house... Hopefully they're still movin though

These teams? How do you get on one. I know you do it early before season, but for next yr. or somethin... just wondered how.

Re: When to go back? I got a scrape dripper at the scrape, and also got 2 nice bicks on the cam. the more i look at it... I think they're both 8 pts. one higher and one wider... There's also like 14 rubs in this 40yrd. area, so the bucks have difinately been usin it... most a fresh too

I just recently put wraps and 2" blazers on my hunting arrows (switched from 3" arizona fletch w/no wraps) and switched from Rocket miniblasters to muzzy 75 gr. 3-blade... and they shot exactly like my field pts. didn't have to move my sight a hair, they seem to ply alot better also!! Hope things work out for ya.

So, this past monday i wen t walking through a property i hunt because they logged it (well it's beyond logged is demolished), mostly clearcut now... which i like. I was walkin the border of the property cuz that's the only place to find trees to put a stand in... I jumped a good buck, so i made a mock scrape n hung my trail cam.. It was killin me so i went out today to check my cam cuz i wanted to see how big he was, n i jumped him again walkin in. Had 4 pics of him in the last 2 days comin to that scrape and does comin to it also. I think an evening hunt is out of the question because both times i jumped the deer were around 2 p.m. , i was thinkin morning hunt, maybe even sittin on stand all-day because he's difinately intersested in the scrape. The only thing is since i spooked him twice (though he just kinda trotted off, didn't seem real scared) how long should i give this spot before i hunt it. Any advice would be appreciated, sorry so long.

It's his first buck and he was excited but couldn't remember his password so i let him post it on here! Definately Muzzified!!!!!! Congrats Brian! Hope to have one this coming weekend! If you don't come to the feild and yell for me again! haha!

got to the woods late, hoisted my bow into the stand and there he was. 20 yard shot...rubbing a HUGE tree ( will post pics of that later) tried some muzzys and blazers for the 1st time..good stuff..my first buck by the way woohoo pics.. 11 point.. me and 11 point
