  1. Well, got out early and up to my stand hook up my bow, climb, go to pull my bow up and it gets stuck on one of my tree-steps. I climb back down un hook it and climb back up, pull my bow up and go to grab an arrow and my arrows fell while i was un hooking my bow. I climb back down and get my arrows then get settled in. About 20 min. later i had deer on me and there were deer around me ALL morning. Saw 3 does, a button buck, 8pt., 5pt., and a 4pt. The 8pt. was a shooter but never presented a shot, i could have shot every other deer but him but passed. The 5pt. worked my mock scrape and one of the does urinated in it. All in all it was an exciting morning. Hopefully next post will be about a kill!! Good luck everyone.
  2. I was thinkin bout this last evening while I dropped my true talker out of the stand. What would everyone least like to drop from their stand while hunting beside bow/arrows??
  3. Re: WHAT IS THE BEST BAIT TO USE Find the bedding area... pattern the bucks, hunt on their trails between bedding and feeding.
  4. Re: West Virginia Bowhunters Been doin my scouting, n seeing alot of bucks this year. Got about 6 nice ones that i got my eye on. We'll just have to see what happens. Good luck everyone!
  5. Re: 2006 Rut Regular doe urine, and if i know there's some big boys in the area i use some dominant buck urine. The doe urine gives the deer a sense of security though cuz they think other deer are in the area or were recently.
  6. Re: How far? i'd have to go with 37yrds.
  7. Re: 2006 Non Typical Buck Thick rack with some character, congrats... I'd be happy with half that rack lol
  8. Re: Just can\'t get a break.. it'll all come together, good luck and keep us posted.
  9. Re: any suggestions on what bait to use ? help please ok, a guy i know does this. Take 50lbs. of corn, gallon of malasses, and 5 lbs. or rock salt, put it into a cement mixer, mix it up, and put it out. We've seen up to 16 deer at the pile at once. Good luck
  10. Re: Please tell me all is not lost! i got a hang-on stand at Dick's for like 30$ ... it's not really a bad stand, or a ground blind (even a homemade one) may get you a little closer. Good luck!
  11. Re: 2 misses in 2 days... sometimes they might not start bleeding till they run a bit, remember the last place you saw the deer, what trail it was on, and walk the trail... if it was a hit, that may help you get on the blood trail. Everyone has misses though, you learn from them.. "If it was that easy we'd all be pros."
  12. Re: 10 days to go looks like his neck was pretty big... nice buck
  13. Re: Having trouble... thanks.... my mistake.... i figured it was somewhere but i was i n a hurry
  14. Re: A little early? Went to check my camera and had a pic of 2 bucks fighting or sparring whichever it may be... gonna put them up when i figure out how.
  15. wow... Our bow season in Wv starts in a week from saturday. I'm out at the archery club gettin in some practice... and my serving is comin undone. I'm thinkin ok new string a week before the season. My dad shows up and fixes everything, what would i do without him.
  16. Not sure how to post pics... I know you get this question alot but some info would be appreciated.
  17. Re: Buck Growl or Buck Roar i actually meant to put this in the bowhunting forum... but either works i guess.
  18. Can't decide which of these calls to try, both seem decent. Just wondering what everyone's opinions are on them.
  19. Re: A little early? I was out around there hanging a stand today but didn't wanna contaminate the area so i didn't go to the my "new" spot... hope to check my cam saturday though i'm gonna take the ol' .22 out n do some squirrel hunting and some last minute scouting before the 14th so hopefully i have some good pics to show you.
  20. Re: ***Here is a touchy subject...lets talk about My cousin shot a nice 8 pt. about 4 yrs. ago... hit a little high and back but we had a crew of 5 guys that whole day (it was shot in the morning) and lost blood but still looked into the night. The next morning there was about 8 of us looking, about 1 p.m. while walking about the whole property, my dad came to a creek bed at the bottom of a deep hollow and there he was. Although it was a mistaken shot, we won't just let a deer go without spending the time to look upon respect for that animal. That's what hunting is about! Respecting the animal itself, i think alot of ppl lose sight of that.
  21. Went out to hang a stand here in WV this afternoon and upon walking to my spot, found 2 fresh scrapes. I never usually see em this early usually not till around the late second or 3rd week of October. Anyways, I went home and got my scrape drippers and made a few mock scrapes. Put Trails End #307 in one, and Dominant Buck Urine and Some Natural Doe Urine in the other.... hung my trail cam out n hopefully i'll have some pics to post!
  22. Re: Trail Cam Question I just bought one recently and it's the best investment i've made... it's sees deer around my stands without contaminating the area with my scent... it's great... I have a moultrie feeder 4.1mp from cabelas and it was on sale for $129 my buddy works there and got me it for $89. It takes crystal clear pics. One of my friends has a Wild View that's only .3mp and it seems to work decent too it's only $60.
  23. Re: Unethical laziness There's a guy like that that hunts where my family does, it's my pap's step-son. But anyways if he doesn't see it fall he doesn't even look. The last 3 yrs. we've found dead deer on the property because he tells us where he shot it so then we go find the blood trail and end up finding the deer. And on the property we hunt the owner doesn't want us shooting any small bucks or does. Becuase the pop. has decreased the last few years a little and this yr. the guy shot a 4 pt. and his son shot a doe!!!!!! I can't stand it!
  24. Re: sighting in a new bow vt said it all.... good luck
