I have to say that you will never be disappointed with a lab not only are they great hunting dogs but the two black labs that I have had are VERY loyal and great with kids. I see with having a few of your own that will also be very important to you. It will be very exciting for you to get the new dog I am sure, good luck with him or her and make sure to post pics
