Does this happen to anyone else besides me??? Its 11:30 at night I jus finally gave up on going to sleep Ive been tryin for 3 hours now. Every year the day befor bow season opens I have to stay up all night to go hunting because I just cant go to sleep. I kno its not really smart goin and climbing into a deer stand 17 foot in the air after staying up all night but theres no way i can sleep. Im like a little kid who knows there going to disney world the next day. Im all jittery like a hyperactive kid on a sugar high i wanna bounce off the walls and run around LOL:1eye:. Ill make sure to wear my safety harness and take all precautions but once im in the stand I dont get tired at all. Ill be in my stand in about 5 1/2 hours illinois season is starting today. I shot a yearling doe 3 years ago I was on the ground walkin to my stand when she stepd out and I drew back and hit her a little high in the shoulder. My arrow was covered in fat and we found no blood. My buddy and I both saw the arrow hit and the shot looked good I dont know what the heck happened

I never take any games or anything with me because i kno as soon as i get into a game a deers gonna walk right under me befor i kno its there I like to jus sit and look around to keep me busy. I only take food if its during the rut and im on stand all day but always carry water with me

I always bring a bottle of water but the only time i take food is if the ruts on and i plan on sitting on stand all day.

I wash my clothes in scent away detergent and then keep em in a scent away storage bag outside of my house. Befor goin huntin I take a shower with scent away shampoo and body wash. I keep a bottle of scent away in my bowcase and spraydown befor going to my stand especially my boots i soak em down. I never have trouble with deer windin me even with the wind blowin directly at em.

Went out dove huntin this mornin in 2 different locations. Only killed one dove we saw a few flyin but not to many. Mostly saw em on the power lines while we were drivin. All the crops are still in around here so id say itll be awhile befor we see any hot dove action. Me n my huntin buddy are gonna go try at a pond this evening maybe theyll b comin in for a drink. i hope so cuz im ready to eat me some dove

But there has been a few times that i have made a less than perfect shot but still should have been fatal and after waitin til the next day still couldnt find the deer. Got both my tags in the mail bout a week and a 1/2 ago. Im ready to get huntn I can wait for the gun huntin im ready for OCT. 1st no doubt jus got my foodplot put in yesterday so it should be comin up nice by then. ill b in my favorite stand with my bow in my hand .lol.

I get spooked every now and again when im walkin to my stand in the mornins. I've seen quite a few bobcats but when i really get spooked is when im huntin in the hills n hollers cuz theres been quite a few mountain lion sightins round here and a couple red wolves to. The thought of being attackd by one of them kinda freaks ne the heck out so when im huntin in the hills i keep a blade on my side so its handy to get to

filled my doe tag last day of first season and my buck tag last day of 2nd season with 15 minutes of shootin light left he was only a 3 point but it was a buck and i had a tag and last day so I BUSTED HIM

well I didn't see that monster again but Ive seen him three times and gun season comes in here in IL on Friday I'm gonna hunt there in the morning and then stay out till Friday morning. All three times I saw that huge non typical he was in gun range and in the open to get a shot maybe he'll come through there again Fri Sat or Sun.

Right now its 20 minutes till 5 I got about 30 minutes be for I'm leaving. I'm going to a stand this morning that I saw 25 deer out of about a week ago 9 of which were bucks for sure and 5 were shooters and one of those 5 was a monster. I saw the monster buck again yesterday evening just 30 yards out of range. He was coming down an opening toward my food plot and my doe decoy when he saw some does in the thicket a proceeded to chase them out of sight. He looks to be a main frame 12 with kickers and drop tines I know for sure he has 17 points for sure I counted em in my binos yesterday. I'M bout to had out ill let everyone know how it went.

well not much luck this morning only seen one doe but it was pretty windy and rainy im goin back in the morning

I shot one sunday that dropped like a spine shot and I tryed to get another arrow into him as he was thrashing and crawling around but i had no opening and after a few minutes he stood up and ran off.

I posted about the buck I shot Sunday and couldn't find. Well I was in the stand in a different woods across the road from where I hit the buck Sunday this evening. I saw 25 deer 9 were bucks 5 were shooters and all of them were dawgin does hardcore. 1 of the shooters was the buck I shot Sunday. He was still walking awkward and he couldn't run really fast but I'm pretty sure hes gonna make it cause he was still chain them does. If he would have came 40 yards closer i would've had a shot. I'm taking in a decoy in the morning and gonna try some rattling Ill let everyone know how it goes hopefully I can get another shot into him if hes still there in the morning.

I know how you feel i did the saem thing twice:mad::( this year with 2 different good bucks. I havent seen the first one but I know the one I shot sunday is still alive because I saw him today

Sorry it took me so long to post about the deer I shot Sunday morning. We went out at 12:30 to look for him. I shot him at 7:00 that morning so that was 51/2 hours. We got to where I marked the blood and started tracking him. We lost blood after only 70 yards or so. So we started walking circles trying to pick up the blood. We finally found a few drops about 50 yards from the road a good 300 yards from where we lost the blood. We knew that if he crossed the road there was no way we were going to find him without blood. We walked the woods paralleling the road and found nothing. We searched the whole woods and found nothing. I am guessing he crossed the road into another woods I hunt but I walked over there and looked around Monday and couldn't find anything. My grand father said that in his experience even with a gun if you knock one down and he gets back up and runs offs you usually dont find em:(:(:mad::(. I was disgusted needless to say I searched even after my grandpa left for about 3 hours until almost dark. And I searched the other woods for 2 hours. I just feel so crappy because I couldn't find him I hate hitting deer and wounding them. Its our job as hunters to take ethical shots and even when a perfect broadside side is botched by a ducking deer you just feel so disgusted that you wanna quit hunting (and I even thought about it).
