Re: I blew it!!! No it was my fault i got buck fever i was shakin and i jus blew it, ive killed three deer with a bow all does. That was the first shot i got at a buck only killed my first deer with a bow last year and never could get a good buck into bow range last year.

Went out this mornin to a spot where i hunt off the ground. I sit behind some weeds and i got a few openins cut to shoot through. At 7:00 this mornin a nice little 6 point walked into one a my openins and i drew back and he stopped. Fifteen yards let the arrow fly and shot right over top of him. I couldnt find my arrow but I'm really really glad it was a clean miss. I seen 10 deer after that no more bucks all doe's but none came into range. All in all it was a darn good mornin but...... I BLEW IT!!! david

I went out huntin Sunday evenin to one a my many favorite spots. My stand sets of the edge of a little cut down corn field about 250 yards long and 60 yards wide. It was really windy sunday evenin so i didnt expect much action but when me and my buddy got to the field there was already a doe and 2 fawns out in the field right where i walk in to go to my stand.I was walkin down the field and they ran into the woods I got in my stand at 3:15 and sat there swayin back and forth with the wind.The first deer i saw after that was at 5:40 way down the field I got out of my stand a little early 6:10 about 20 minutes b4 it got to dark to shoot.As i was makin my way out to the field a doe and two fawns came out on the other side and they were feeding along the edge of the woods across from me. As I was watching them the doe looked back and a big 6 point with a reakky tall rack walked ou to the field and a fawn was with him. As the buck was workin a scrape at the edge of the field the fawn ran up to the doe and she chased him away. I was sittin at the edge of the field as this 6 point was feedin walkin righ toward me 20 more yards and hes mine. Then the doe started walkin back toward the buck, she past him and he turned and got up behind her. She darted down the field and ran in the woods and he was runnin right behind her to me thats one of the best signs during deer season. THE RUT IN ILLINOIS IS COMIN IN. David

Re: tonight? I know it rain all day yesterday and until about 9 this mornin and it was really windy last night but there isnt hardly any wind now im in southern IL and i think the deer should be movin pretty good here this evenin im bout ready to head out in about 20 minutes David

Re: Your first bow? I was about 7 when i got my first bow it was an alpine colt i used it just o target shoot i didnt start bow hunting till about 2 and a half years ago

Im in southern IL and i been seein alot of deer Ive seen a couple big bucks but havent got one into range and alot of little bucks ALOT of does and fawns i shot a doe last thursday and i didnt make a good shot i hit her in the guts way back so i let her go for almost six hours b4 goin to look for her and i followed blood crawlin on my hands and knees thru briar thickets for about 50 yards or so and then followd the blood traila bout 100 more yards b4 she stopped bleedin and then i walked the whole woods i was huntin in and never found her i searched for 4 and a half hours b4 giving up and then went back and looked the next mornin for a couple hours and never found her it was the first deer of season and i lost her i made me sick i felt horrible but ive seen alot of deer. Couldnt go this mornin cuzz of the rain but I plan on goin this evein if the rain aint to bad David

Re: Illinois Boys I wish we still had the check stations to and the pins it really made me mad cause i have one for every deer i killed up until last year i didnt even try to mess with it to much of a hassel And I bet the poachers love the new system thats one of the main reasons i think it should be changed back to the way it was. Re: nothing tonight I sat in a stand for almost 4 and a half hours this mornin and never saw a deer i seen three otters tho it was pretty cool first ones i ever saw while deer huntin hope ya have better luck next hunt David

Re: what scents and calls you using? I use coon pee on my boots to cover my scent when i walk in and when the ruts goin i use tinks 69 on a cotton ball and string to drag walkin to the stand and i use a H.S. True Talker

One thing i always hear people talkin about is scent. People havin trouble with deer smellin em in the stand or catchin the scent on the trail where they walked in the woods. I always spray down with scent away b4 enterin the woods but 1 thing i always do is spray coon urine on my boots all around em especially on the bottom b4 walkin in the woods and ive had deer walk up the same trail i came in on and never smell me. Ive even had a few bobcats walk across the path i came in on and never smell me. I kno it works for me and i was wonderin if any1 else did this and if you dont and your havin trouble with deer smellin ya maybe u could try it. David

Re: deer ribs? Never ate the ribs but a buddy a mine killed a doe yesterday and he had never ate em either so when we cut her up we saved em and wednesday his g-mas gonna cook em up and were gonna eat em ill let ya know how they are

Re: What age to start hunting? i was 6 when i first started huntin (squirrel) with a 410 single shot and i shot my first deer when i was 8 with a 270 in ky. and he was a big 10 that scored 176 1/4 and ive been huntin hard ever since

Re: How long, how many, and the biggest... ive been huntin for 8 years this'll be my ninth year been huntin since i was 8 im now 17 and ive killed 50+ deer the biggest was last year a 10 dont kno how much he scores but hes big

I been watchin three big bucks come out almost every evening in the same spot in public woods and im not the only one thats been seein these deer and other people hunt there so im goin to take my climbin stand and go in the woods about an hour b4 daylight and hunt in there till dark that evening and hopefully them 3 bucks come out in the right spot season comes in oct. 1st Hope you get a shot at a bigun Daivd Live life Hunt hard
