  3. Re: Should Boise State be #1? not really fightin words.... OU was down this year.... too many mishaps. They were very close to losing 5 games. Lucked into the big 12 championship and got an automatic bid to the Fiesta Bowl. I thought OU would win but only by a touchdown.. OU WAS NOT VERY GOOD THIS YEAR. So don't use that to justify Boise deserving a shot at the title. And one last vent. A lot of people are saying that the big schools don't want a playoff because they "might" get less money. So what! I don't know about you, but if my job (like all major conference commishes and presidents) is to bring money into my school then that is exactly what I am going to do. Is it fair to the mid major conferences? Probably not. But their job is not to please these midmajor conferences. It is to preserve and promote their conference/school. Delaney would be the guy I hired to do the job. Fair or not!

    ohio state

Re: ohio state AdvantageTimber... about as many as those wolverines players got against the trojans...
  5. Re: Should Boise State be #1? Boise State doesn't deserve a shot as long as they have that lame schedule. Period.
  6. Re: Your first set-up? my dad's.. an original fred bear... we still have it.
  7. Re: OKLAHOMANS READ! Bad Idea!! Most of the people who kill the "young" bucks do so in the ML and Rifle seasons... They will still be able to shoot their two young bucks. It will not accomplish much if anything. If they want to reduce doe numbers I agree that the earn a buck by shooting a doe program would work best. I am currently pretty pleased with the ODWC, especially in the Southeastern part of the state. The buck to doe ratio is acceptable IMO. I don't think we need to take any more does in our part of the state. They would have to drop the buck harvest down to one to impact our herd. With all of the poaching that goes on down here it probably still wouldn't matter.

  12. Re: What size Turkey loads do you use? [ QUOTE ] Winchester Supreme 3" #6's out of a Mossberg 835 12 ga [/ QUOTE ] Ditto- my mossberg can not or will not shoot any #5's. my pattern goes wild with #5's.
  13. Re: Everyone\'s first buck. way to go... what a great buck to take for your first. i shot my first deer, a 120 in 10 point, 13 years ago. i was sitting on a small draw about half way up a big ol' oak infested hillside. about three hours after daylight, we caught movement at the base of the hill. A doe and a yearling were the first two deer to surface. The fed up the hill straight towards us. I was shaking so hard from excitement that my dad had to hold the gun and put his arm on my knee to keep my leg from shaking. When they got to about thirty yards from my dad and I they started looking back down the hill, and you guessed it, Mr. Big Boy stepped out. He high-legged it straight up the side of the hill and stopped broadside about five yards from the two does. It only took one double-lung shot from my .243 Rem to bring him down. Thank the lord I had finally stablized my breathing and suppressed my heart rate enough to make the shot. The memories of that hunt will last a lifetime. Yours will too. Congrats again.

  15. Re: Have you heard this song (Lyrics) First thing I did When that plane finally landed Was kiss the ground Next thing I did Was to go find my friends Down at the ol' hangout Pre Chorus We drank some beer And talked a lot about old times But when the booze finally hit Billy Joe Grimes He said, 'I don't know what it is, But you seem diff'rent to me' I said, 1st Chorus I just came back From a place where they hated me And everything I stand for A land where our brothers are dying for others Who don't even care anymore If I'm not exactly the same good ol' boy That you ran around with before I just came back from a war 2nd Verse The very next mornin' I took a walk through the neighborhood I thought, it's been so long Since I've been in a place where everything is good Pre Chorus People laughin' and children were playin' And as I watched them I found myself prayin' Lord, keep 'em safe here at home In the land of the free 2nd Chorus 'Cause I just came back From a place where they hated me And everything I stand for A land where our brothers are dying for others Who don't even care anymore If I'm not the same little freckle-face boy That grew up in that house next door I just came back from a war Bridge I hope you cherish this sweet way of life And I hope you know that it comes with a price Tag Chorus I just came back From a place where they hated me And everything I stand for A land where our brothers are dying for others Who don't even care anymore Chances are I never will be the same I really don't know anymore I just came back from a war Tag I just came back from a war (You don't know me, you don't know me, you don't know me) I just came back from a war

  20. Re: where to for OK buck I will go out on a limb and say that you have a small chance of killing a good buck in SE Oklahoma. More specifically Honobia and Three Rivers WMA. It ain't going to be easy. But if you do some scouting during this season (to find out where everyone else hunts) and the off season to find where some good deer are you have a pretty good shot a killing a mature buck. With that being said, a 160" deer is not likely, but possible. There are a ton of 120-140" deer on both of these places. It is definitely worth looking into.
