  2. Re: What RT Pattern Is This? not the original realtree. the original realtree looked similar to Treebark, but with a few leaves. I believe it is advantage also.

  9. Re: It\'s sad that many of us.......(i.e. Zumbo) Shocking. I can't believe so many of us feel this negative about Zumbo after one emotionally charged statement. I absolutely HATE hunting near anyone that uses those guns. They do have a place and it is at the firing range. I too have emailed all of his sponsored and informed them of my feelings. 50 years of dedication to the outdoors industry, gone due to the pigheadedness of a few. And they do look like "terrorist" rifles.
  10. Re: What\'s the biggest turkey you\'ve ever killed?? 11" beard, 26 lbs, 1" spurs.
  11. Re: 835 sights and barrel rust good luck with the gun. i hate my mossberg 835.

  14. Re: RATTLESNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is those copperheads you got to watch in oklahoma. i got bit on the foot by one in my front yard at night. it was by far the most pain i have ever indured. the bite isn't bad, but the next 3 weeks are a living ****. my ankle was the size of my thigh and I couldn't bend my leg at all. having said that, I haven't, or will not, owned a pair of snake chaps. but I do refrain from walking around the yard in flip flops.
  15. Re: Ladies shotgun [ QUOTE ] One thing to keep in mind with the youth 20 ga. guns..........they are smaller..........so they are lighter. That means they still pack some punch at the back end. Maybe consider a full-size 12 ga. autoloader (sucks up some recoil) and some good, buffered 2 3/4" loads. It'll still kill a turkey to 30 yards+ and may actually have less recoil than the youth 20's. Just a thought. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with this totally. 3" mags out of a youth model gun has a ton of recoil, way more than an auto 12 guage with 2 3/4" shells. My wife uses a rem 1100 and shot one bird at 43 yards with 2 3/4" #6's.

    Fly question

Re: Fly question You are right about the wire adding weight. The faster the current you are fishing, the heavier the fly should be. If the water near you in NY is slow moving, then you shouldn't need to add wieght. We always use some shiny silver with our buggers. Makes them easier to see for the fish and you if drift fishing them past yourself. You should do a search and learn to tie the Yellow Humpy. It imitates a ton of insects. We used to tie elk hair caddis, but switched to the humpy. They seem to attract as good and they float a lot better. Plus they are really easy to tie. They are the perfect dry fly for both wild and released trout. Sorry to ramble, just giving you a little advice.
  22. Re: Starting fly tying.... Our bass pro in Grapevine, TX used to offer those classes for free (cost of materials). You also got discounted prices on fly tying supplies. You might want to check there if you have one close enough.
