  8. Re: Randy and Leo\'s Debate on teaching Anti hunter There are some interesting points being made here. I guess I haven't run in to any anti-hunters that have voiced their opinion specifically to me. Do most of the anti-s stay quiet and just contribute money to there organizatons??

  13. Re: Randy and Leo\'s Debate on teaching Anti hunter\'s [ QUOTE ] We don't need nor do i want to teach anti's nothing.. [/ QUOTE ] So, your saying, just let them be?
  14. Re: Randy and Leo\'s Debate on teaching Anti hunter\'s Let's get some discussion on this. What can we do to educate anti's and nonhunter's? Do we "put it in their face" or "hide it behind our back?" Leo, DO NOT TAKE THIS WRONG!! We're all here to learn. I Want to know what peoples opinions are. I think this can be a great discussion. I don't believe every hunter thinks about anti hunters and what they are trying to do to the sport we have grown to love.

  16. Re: Tattoo after second session, check it out [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Hey New, i didnt ask for your opinion for its long term effects on my life or neither your opinion on "tramp Stamps" on females. As far as my employment prospects, i already have a career. I work for a municipality where my foreman has tattoos on his forearms and my union rep is covered with them. Maybe where you live it might affect empolyment but not me. Oh and far as growing to hate it, i got my first tattoo 5 years ago and yet to hate it. Granted i am still young and things could change, but dont push an idea because you hate your own tattoos if you have any. Or because thats Just your general opinion. keep you negativity to yourself. [/ QUOTE ] There are a lot of different angles on getting a tattoo that is visible....career impact, dating impact, social impacts, etc. and not everyone thinks about these things when getting a tattoo. Especially if they are drunk when they do it. Just stating the facts, ma'am! Not trying to rain on your parade...as far as tattoos go, it's a cool looking tat. Hope you enjoy it. New [/ QUOTE ]That is about the most hipocritcal, uneducated statement I've heard on this forum!! Grow up!!!
  17. Re: Pinewood Derby results!.... Just one thin coat of wax, and he'll win next time!! Congrats!!
  18. Re: Culled this one!! (PICS) [ QUOTE ] In one of my quality whitetail magazines I got from QDMA it showed the effect of injuries to racks and how they change for example the one buck at 8months old broke its leg and for that year sported a small disfigured rack however its 2year it had a rack that grossed 145" and finally its third year it went back to no more than a basic 8pt scoring under 110" this was all done with a high fenced deer so it most variables were controlled. There is no real telling if it would have ever scored 140 or not. however any buck taken presents a challenge congrats on the nice buck [/ QUOTE ]Interesting. Thanks for sharing that.
  19. I took this out of a different thread, I think it is a good topic to discuss. Let's try to figure out the best way to teach anti's about hunting. Leo started here: Nowadays, I make sure as few people see the animal as possible. When was the last time you got a pat on the back from a stranger who was a hunter at the checkstation or processor? Our own ignorance, insecurity and incompetence is what fuels these contriversies and prevents us from doing what we really need to do. IE. improve the habitat and really study the population. As a Wildlife professional your NUMBER ONE job is to TEACH IMO, ignorance of wildlife is the biggest controversial subject, because it's what people THINK they know that causes all the problems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not to get off the subject but, these statements kinda contradict themselves don't they? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't think so. Trying to teach somebody something while standing over a big deer tends to just get you branded as a liar or a braggert by your "accusers". From the first time these folks open their mouths it's apparent their opinion is not open for debate. To teach somebody something they have to be willing to believe you have something to teach them. I answer these folks honestly. That's all I can do at that point. If someone wants to really learn, I do what I can to help. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I understand what you are saying but, in my opinion, part of hunting is killing. Now with that said, I am trying to teach my six year old son about hunting. From the time he was born I would show him what I killed. He also sits in my tower with me watching the deer all summer long. He knows what they look like alive, he also is very aware of what they look like dead. You made a ststement about standing over a big deer, Well, if I saw a big deer on the back of your truck when i was younger, I'd have asked you all kinds of questions thinking you were a great hunter!! As far as your so called "accusers" your right, they have there mind made up and there is not a whole lot you can do to change it. My opinion is Let evereybody see your trophy, Be proud of it, you earned it, The anti's need to know hunting is here to stay and killing is a part of it! -------------------- Tis Truly A Glorious Mornin!! 25. Re: Culled this one!! (PICS) Hard to tell Craig, I didn't see any injuries but, I guess we'll never know now!! We had watched this buck since August, He was kind of a loner. Didn't see him at all during the rut and then he showed up again during gun season. I saw him the second day of the season and noticed he had a bad limp. Monday morning when he came out I decided to "see what was causing the limp". Either way, he sure taste good.
