  2. I have to beat my head with a brick everytime I read this political forum. Please explain your logic on where Obama is anti-sportman or anti-hunting. Consitantly he has said that he supports sportsman...hunting and the 2nd ammendment. Can anyone point to any anti-sportsmens policies that President elect Obama is advocating? If you haven't noticed...doesn't look like gun issues are going to be a priority for the administration....there are much bigger fish to fry and hard decisions to make over the next 4 years. Also...I went to deer camp this weekend. We were down in Southern Il and took a number of really nice bucks in camp and a boatload of does. Were we sitting around the table Saturday night discussing politics and we figured out that of the 10 people in our cabin....9 voted for Obama. The 10th guy was 17. These are the type of hunters that I am around and that I was raised with.
  3. I might send him a picture of the fawn that I killed this weekend. There are people out there that live in some type of fantasy world. I had a guy ask me at work today if I killed any "innocent deer." I told him i wasn't sure how inoccent they are as the steal a lot of beans and corn.
  4. I don't agree with everything he says. I am especially not a fan of him shooting fenced animals....his show is called "spirit of the wild"...there usually isn't anything wild or fair chase about it. However, I think he is a good guy who is doing what he thinks is best and it would be interesting to meet him sometime. To every ying there is a yang and he is the counteraction to people who are just as crazy about banning all guns.
  5. I had a similiar thing happen to me bout 5 years ago. I shot a big doe as I was sitting on the ground near a field levee. The doe was shot through the lungs and ran down the levee. Little did I know that a 13 or 14 year old boy was sitting on the other side of the same levee. As the doe ran down the levee I heard another shot right on top of me. I walked down the levee and found the boy stand over the doe. Clearly there was a huge blood trail leading from where I was sitting but the kid was really excited so I just offered to help him field dress it. We got it gutted and I noticed that there was only one gunshot wound. About 15 minutes later the kids dad came over with there 4-wheeler and I helped him get his first deer loaded up...told his dad that his son put a real nice shot on that doe. Also...In IL a private landowner is required to let you track a wounded deer that runs on his property. If they give you trouble just call the CO. We had a problem like this a few years back with a little old lady who thought they were her deer. CO explained to here that those deer belong to the citizens of IL...and she was letting my buddy retrieve his deer.
  6. Here in IL we only use shotguns in our firearms season for this very reason. I bullet going 100 yds vs. 1000 yds. This is a real tragedy for all people involved.
  7. KY is a great state for monsters. #2 State per square mile for booners. That is an absolute hog with junk everywhere.
  8. Wow. The brow tine and G-2 on the left beam are super long!!! What a whopper.
  9. And I will take a 180 please!! Good luck.
  10. And Tim...the bucks are movin real good. They have been for a at least two weeks now here in West Central IL. I gun hunt in Johnson County and there is usually good breeding activity in 1st gun season. Some does are already bred by this time but bucks will leave one and search for another. Good luck...post pics of deer you get. later.
  11. Sorry to hi-jack but. So who is the girl in the photo? Did the guy from TN bring his daughter up to hunt with you while you were guiding? His wife to to watch the little one also? I have a 9-month old & I am not dragging him down to deer camp this Friday. The story doesn't smell right? The post said "my kills" and then you post pics of some other guy? Sort of weird. Why didn't you respond that way in the original thread? There is nothing wrong with posting someone elses deer...just don't take credit for it. Obviosly they have tags so they are legal.
  12. The original point of this post was to ask whether some of you could support a canadite such as Bobby Jindal. If he is a true fiscal conservative then in my opinion he will likely have a good chance for the GOP in 2012. I admit that I really know much about him but what I wondered if people would attack him based on his race, question his relegion or say he is Un-American b/c his parents were not born in this country. This thread has gotten a little off track but oh well. This is a part of Realtree that is a political furum where I thought deer/turkey hunters could debate the political issues as they stood today without getting nasty and attacking peoples tenure, spelling or legitamacy as a hunter. This doesn't seem to be the case and I will limit my posts (perhaps none) in this area from here on out. Sorry that some of you got your tail feathers so ruffled but I will try to be sensatve in the future. As for me as a hunter I have killed well over 50 deer in my lifetime...first one at 11 and I am 30 now....I have several bucks over 140 inches and one over 160 but must admit that I am still chasing my first booner. The turkey I killed this spring (I don't like to brag but I got called out)...but he was an absolute monster... weighed 27.5 lbs, had 11.5 inch beard and 1 1/2 inchs spurs. I am not much of a turkey hunter and would have much rather killed a deer of that caliber. Hopefully that is good enough for a couple of you. Oh well...good luck to all of you chasing deer this week. Our shotgun season is next weekend and I know I need a little luck this year..all you you have probably put a vodoo hex on me for supporting Obama.
  13. That is a long sit. I usually hunt morning and evening stands. I commend you for your patience...did you see any deer that day? You derserved to.
  14. People from Chicago didn't vote in county did they. But over 40% of people in those counties did vote for Obama. Probably a few sportsmen in there considering the size of your county. Do you disagree? And the my Union question was rhetorical. Poeple in unions vote mostly for democrates b/c democrates support workers rights and the rights of workers to organize. If you are blue collor worker in the this country and vote for a republican you ought to have your head expamined. If anyone can give me an example of Republicans defending workers then I will be amazed.
  15. Why is that that people in unions support democrates? What county do you live in? Lets take a look at the map and see how people voted.
  16. I would give it a 0% chance. And no...I am not disarmed.
  17. Ok. Here you go. Take a look a rural counties for yourself. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/president/ Here are a few I looked up where I would bet my paycheck that a very large % of voters are hunters or in hunting families. Pike, IL. -- Obama 40% - McCain 58% Fulton, IL Obama 60% - McCain 38% Buffallo, WI - Obama 57% - McCain 42% Lee, IA - Obama 58% - McCain 41% Adams, OH Obama 37% - McCain 61% Kleberg, TX Obama 53% - McCain 46% Pretty cool map. Interesting to note... Obama did not win even one county in Oklahma...some of you should seriously consider moving to the sooner state or the Texas Panhandle. Just kidding so don't blow any gaskets but it is interesting. I couldn't find any exit polls that talked specifically about hunters or gun owners but I can speak from personal experiance. In my circle of hunters and gun owners almost all voted more Obama though there were some exceptions. We are pretty hardcore when it comes to whitetails with bows and firearms but admittly we are not "gun nuts". Many of my friends are working class and in union jobs so that probably explains a lot.
  18. Lay off the persanl attacks. This is a forum called "politics". You don't have to post in here if you don't want. Perhaps you should request a forum called "closed minded President bashers". If you make an intelligent position based on "conservitism" I am not going to attack you...but if you call someone a "terrorist" or other smear just b/c you can't articulate any better arguements then I take offense to that. There are many sportmen that support President Elect Obama. As far as deer hunting goes...Obama won every state that I would ever want to deer hunt....IL, IA, WI, IN, OH. You can keep the deer in TN:D. In most rural counties in these big buck/Obama states he won 40 to 48% and even won some rural counties outright. What does that tell you...there are many outdoorsmen/women and country folk who voted, supported and donated money to President Elect Obama. If you don't want to have a debate on the issues then you probably shouldn't come into the "political" area. You might not have heard of Bobby Jindal but he is the govoner of LA born to two non-us born parents and raised as a Hindu. Muslims worship the same God as Christians do...but Hindus worship hudreds of gods.
  19. What do you guys think of Bobby Jindal. He is the Indian-American govoner or Louisiana and one of the likely GOP 2012 candidates for President. Do you think he is a christian? Do you wonder if he was born in the United States. He is linked to Hindu terrorists? Better start researching b/c this is the Repulican parties new guy.

    Rip u.s.a.....

Its pretty offensive. Not only counter to what our country stands for but also to people like my Grandfather and Uncle. My grandfather fought up the banks of Iwo Jima and saw was of the bottom of Mt. Sarabuchi when the flag went up. My uncle spent 3 years in a POW camp and endured severe beatings. Both of these men voted for President Elect Obama. My grandfather is 82 years old and I would bet my paycheck that if you showed him that picture in jest you would make you regret it. I have been recieving quite a few offensive emails and text messages over the last couple days. It is really repulsive that people can be so simple minded and hateful.
  21. My neihbor is an elderly guy who owns about a hundred acres. Only allows me and my brother to bowhunt there. Some idiot hung a stand in the middle of his ground without any permision to hunt. Not only that but he had his name and number etched on the stand. Landowner told me to take the stand down as the landowner had already ran him off b/f. Didn't call him but it is a nice little stand and tree steps so I appreciate his stupidity.
  22. The sky is not falling. Get a grip and take a deep breath. The world is going to get better instead of continuring down a dead end policies of the last eight years. Let me share a little quote... I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. That day has come and african-americans are obviosly overwhelmed considering that only a generation ago in many parts of this country they couldn't vote b/c of the color of their skin. As a white man...it is really embarrasing to hear all this small talk.
  23. Those are all great ideas. Let me ask...wouldn't they require laws to enact them? How do you know if a criminal is trying to buy a gun if you don't do a background check. That is really the problem...you have some on the left who say "ban all guns" and some on the right who want everything "wide open" with no laws or rgulations. Neither of these sides will get thier way but they sure will make a lot of noise and try to get people on their side. In the end all they are are noise makers on both sides who won't ever get a single bill passed.
  24. Yes it is unbelieveable. This is a great day in the history of our country I am sure Abe Lincoln and Martin Luthur King Jr. are looking down on our great nation and smiling. If you didn't have a chance to listen to McCain's consecion speech then you should look it up. This man has a lot of class and even though there was much mud slung from his camp he is now fully behind our next President.
  25. Looks like its over...its been fun!!
