Pens drop one today!!! Series tied at 1 a piece!

It looks like a young bear to me too, Maybe 200lbs or so. We got a big blackie that is pushing 500lbs that is raiding bird feeders here. I got a look at him the other night...hes big LOL the feer is eye level with me and the bear sits on his butt and licks seeds out haha!! Yeah if you keep feeding him, he wont leave.

Was out friday morning and had two toms nearby all morning, but they wouldnt come out into the field. Since the property line is just inside the woods, we couldnt move in on them. Finally a tom comes out into the field and starts working my way. He gets about 70 yds away and a rumble of thunder sends him back into the woods....rats. Friday afternoon finds me, my dad and a youngster looking for his first bird, out on the same finger of pines jutting out into a field. I was hunting one field, them the other side. There was 2 toms and a bunch of hens working in front of me and they made their way into the woods across from me. The one tom shot me a courtesy gobble before exiting the field. Shortly after, he came back across the field to find me, but hung up at 80yds. He finally started to come look for me and was at about 60yds when yet another rumble of thunder made him decide to boogy into the woods....twice in one day thunder spoils a hunt!!! After a 20min thunderstorm, and some more calling he comes back out, but passes out of range heading for some hens in the field. I decide to get closer to the edge of the field and stand next to a 15' pine tree, using its branches for cover and a gun rest. I kept calling every few minutes, and sure enough here he comes from the field behind me. I was able to stop him, get his head up, and down he went!! Im glad I waited that storm out!! Sorry for the crummy pic, but it was pouring outside and the bird is soaked.

The one I shot on friday dropped like a stone at 48 paces. The first 2 times I called him in he was at about 60....killable...maybe. But I wasnt going to risk it. I let this bird walk twice at a range I was not comfortable with. He came in again inside my comfort range and that was it.

Nice bird congrats!! I got one on friday evening, had to sit through a small thunderstorm, but I got him LOL. I will post pics in the contest thread and you can read the story in the turkey room if you want, I will post it there.

Had mine done about 10 years ago. I was also put under, it was kinda cool. Never had any pain after I woke up either. Doc had me juiced with novacaine too, and I took a few Ibuprofens to get the swelling down. Worst part was the blood taste in my mouth for a few days. I can honestly say it was way less of a production than I had feared.

The media can call it racial profiling or whatever the heck they want to call it....I dont care what it is ,its what has to be done. As far as Im concerned, any illegals should be lucky to only be leaving with hurt feelings.

I was giving dad some ribbing about it all morning...he's a good sport, and I know he would give me a hard time if it were me who was shootin up the woods instead. I grabbed his gun barrel later in the morning, he says '' what ya doing?'' I said " just seeing if that sucker cooled down yet..."":D Hes already back out there, taking our buddies young son on a hunt this afternoon.

Long story, so I will summarize as best I can haha! Dad and I split up and sat in different places this morning. Him along the field, and me in the woods on a ridge. The tom was between us. We were separated by a few hundred yards. I saw the birds fly into the field and heard the tom make his way towards my ol man. I was waiting to hear a shot.....then finally *Booom*. I said to myself, 'cool he got him''. I stood up to walk out and congratulate dad...*Booom*...and I see pop chasing a bird across the field. Crap, so i grab my BOW and start bookin out to join the chase. We ended up chasing this tom around in a creek bottom in the middle of a field for about 15 min. Dad uses his last 3 shells....all misses. I got one arrow with me (i didnt grab my quiver when I went to join the chase), I finally get an open shot at the bird, hes at a fast walk, but its wide open. Well I misjuged the distance and saw the arrow bury in the dirt under him. So here we are, no shells, no arrows, and a wounded but very much alive turkey. I run back to my truck and grab my GUN and some more shells for dad. When I get back, dad told me the tom ran across the field and flew across the road. We tried for an hour to find some sign of him...but found none. Although dad said he fell like a ton of bricks when he first shot him....the bird didnt appear to be to hurt badly. Hopefully he makes it. Makes me sick to think that we maybe we just didnt find him...but we did all we could. Hopefully the next few days are better haha

Im not fan of Ovie or Crosby. They are both talented players, personaly I think Ovechkin is the better overall player though. Alex is a clown and I just find Crosby to be annoying...and kind of a sissy haha! And that was a bonehead manuever by Ovechkin, snowing that kid.

I would be willing to help you out too....its just that Tracy lives a bit closer to me than you do LOL Pretty sure I could be to his place in about 30min haha

I actually would come and give you a hand, but unfortunately I have to work weekends at the marina (and its my turkey period LOL). But only for 2 more weeks, I had another offer that I just couldnt pass up. So if you have any left to plant in a few weeks I could give ya a hand. We didnt quite get all ours in today either. We are debating where to put the last 75 or so.
