  1. Get out there and watch where you step!!!
  2. Congrats on the bird!! Good way to get around quickly thats for sure, Great idea! I almost got run over by a guy on a mountain bike one morning here in WI (it was not legal to ride where he was). I was walking down a fire lane on some state owned land, headed toward a roosted bird, in the predawn hours and heard a noise coming behind me, turned around in time to see a small head lamp coming at me...and I moved to the side of the road and he whizzed by me. Dont think he ever saw me!!!! I was condsidering biking in to some of my way back public spots, but its illegal to use bikes on the state land.
  3. Theres some great info given here to get you started, any kind of particular question or issue you find, someone here probably has the answer. I would also recommend joining an archery club or start going to an indoor range if possible. Pretty hard to lose arrows at an indoor range and there is going to be someone on hand to point you in the right direction. Its a good place to meet a new friend or two also. As far as getting permission to hunt places, Mallard has a good little script there. Offer to help out with some chores or projects, and not just that day, if you get permission always offer to help. Also, make sure to let them know who is going to be with you. They may not want 5 guys wandering around the place. If 'you' get permission, its usually not good to show up with a truck full of buddies to hunt there. Never hurts to leave a venison steak or two for the land owner and send a Christmas card. Good Luck

    Spring in WI

After pushing the 80degree mark last week, we awoke to a fresh blanket of snow this morning, in the NE part of the state anyways.....isnt that nice :bang: It wont stay around long, its just a bit depressing to see haha!!
  5. We dont have anything on paper, but my family has an agreement with a friend that we pay some of his property taxes and we can hunt his 300 some acres. He helps out with food plots too, as he has tractors and such..plus there are always crop fields too. That and a little work around the farm and we call it even.

  7. Best wishes for Dakota on the way!!
  8. I was pleased to see my local FOX news station (out of Green Bay) do a story painting us sportsmen/women in a good way!! They did a clip live from a Sporting Clays/Hunting Club Range this morning. They were promoting the special sporting clays shoot they are holding this weekend that benefits a local charity/help group. The news lady actually took a few shots on live tv....I thought that was pretty cool as I dont think most news shows would do anything like that.
  9. A little early for me to be doing any planting yet. But I did break up the soil and went and got some nice fertilizer from my friends barnyard and mixed that in.
  10. I would like to shoot one, but I dont care how nice it is, no way Im putting out that kind of money for one. My AM32 shoots like a dream for me anyways, no reason for me to change anytime soon.
  11. I feel much better today..I did nothing but rest/sleep since yesterday afternoon, and Im feeling more like myself again. Hope the rest of you and your families are feeling better soon!!
  12. Thats pretty wild!! Dont think you will find me doing that though haha!!
  13. Sounds like some form fixing is in order haha!! I always have a slight bend in my bow arm, I also dont have the grip tucked into the 'palm' of my hand, it actually rests more on the meat of my thumb. As far as keeping clothes out of the way...I found that cutting the end off of a green or black sock and sliding that over my bow hand to keep my clothes out of the way is a good inexpensive option.

    Hey All

Good to hear from you Mike! Glad all is well with you!
  15. Came home early from work today. Woke up at 4am with stomach pains that came and went at a whim. Couldnt stay out of the john, which continued at work and I became dizzy and sluggish. Not sure if its the flu or if I ate something that is making my body unhappy.....feeling a bit better after a nap.
  16. Jinx indeed....Wings dropped 2 in a row

    Prom

Lookin' sharp buddy!! Great pic of the two of you!!
  18. I would think most kinds of 'snacks' would work. You may want to do a little homework on the squirrel before you catch him...if you can stand him being up there for another day. See if you can see him sneaking in or out, that way you know where he is getting in and can fix that so his little buddies dont make it in too...if they arent already.
  19. Although Im sure this will jinx them...the Wings are on a 7 game win streak!!!!

    your claim to fame

Dont have any 'famous' blood in my family that I know of. I have met some well known folks, mostly athletes/coaches. Used to run into Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson (head coach and GM) at Lambeau Field from time to time. If you watched any Packer home games last season you have seen some of my work. I used to change/work on the signs there, on the scoreboard and throughout the stadium.
  21. Went to check a few spots this morning. Saw a few other guys checking out the same spots...doh!! Thats the joy of public land haha! Did see 2 strutters in a field on one of the private farms I can hunt though. Starting to get the itch now!!
  22. Welcome to the forums!!
