  1. New video clip up on my site: I videoed a youth turkey hunt back in april, here's a short clip of the days hunt.......... Youth Turkey Hunt
  2. My buddy Ken called me and said he happened to be driving past a bunch of water pigs in a flooded area and figured we could fish it..........so I packed up the camera and the bow and ran out to find some HUGE carp! He had already stuck 4 or 5 by the time I arrived and the biggest was well over 12 lbs. (15lbs. i think) We ended up shooting 14 or 15 and had way over 100lbs. of fish total...........only bad part is I lost 3 arrows and Ken 2, makes for a real expensive time when you pay $30 a pop for arrows, hopefully once the water receeds we'll find them. Oh, and i shot my first two carp ever with a recurve, once I had lost my third arrow I was done, but Ken had his son's recurve in the truck and graciously offered for me to shoot it, once I got used to just flinging instead of aiming I was whacking em.................Thanks for giving me the call Ken! Some pics. from the footage:
  3. I was editing the footage the other day and I believe I will have about 1 hour of total edited footage some of which will go up on my website, but I am also thinking of putting together a DVD if anyone is interested. I shot this alittle different than your average fishing show, so I hope it will appeal to a wider audience.
  4. A little different than bow hunting, heres a video clip from last summer, shore fishing, can also be done from a boat and when done at night under the lights it's a blast.........
  5. I went to shoot a video segment with Len "spinner" Harris today in Richland county. Len is a professional trout fishing guide for both fly and spinning tackle in the "Driftless area" of south western Wi. We started out the day on a beautiful stream just outside of Richland Center with plenty of spillways and deep holes to hold both big Browns and Rainbows.......wasn't long before len had hooked into a great "Bow" pushing 20 + inches...................And then a 16+ Brown with alot of 12-14 inchers thrown in for good measure, the sky was overcast and the water near perfect, the bite was on and Len brought 20 + fish to hand with at least 30 follows/hits, all of this on a Panther Martin spinner (and not a small one either), Len like alot of seasoned anglers believes that big lures catch big fish, and he proved that theory today over and over again........but enough talking lets see the pics. Tailwalker!!!! Len believes in the 5 second rule for getting the fish unhooked and back in the water, all the fish he caught today were on a catch and release only water and all were returned to be caught again, his 5 second rule keeps the fish from being over stressed so they are very capable of surviving for another day..........A more easy going yet professional guide I doubt you'll ever find, and his experience and knowledge make for a most enjoyable time on the trout water, if you would like to experience a trip such as this first hand check out Len on his website @ http://lenharris.tripod.com/index.html or give him a call @ 608 647-5356
  6. I go almost once a week in the summer.........it's alot of fun and keeps you in shape for bow season.
  7. Thanks all, I had a great one, helped a good friend kill a gobbler and got it on video to boot!
  8. Thanks for all the kind words...............I am thinking of using this style clip for either the menu page for my next DVD or a comercial for the business on a site I do some editing work for.
  9. Very cool pic. I hope to visit Alaska sometime soon as well:)
  10. Let me know what you think, good ,bad or otherwise........ Click here to play video For low speed users:
  11. Firewire and a capture card on your PC is the only way I would recomend capturing video to your PC...........USB2.0 is slower and will drop frames.........using a dump method will not give you the best quality;) But it all depends on what you want to do with the footage and how much you want to spend to upgrade your PC.
  12. You can try out Pinnacle studio on a free trial basis, to see if it is what you are after.....................I have used it for over a year and have reached the limits with it, I am now considering Sony Vegas Pro, and it is definately more costly than most other "consumer" software programs.
  13. I volunteered to video a Wi. youth hunt this weekend and dispite bad weather yesterday we managed to put a good longbeard on the ground yesterday afternoon. So here's the story: We got out and set up on a farm with a big marsh and timber islands that ran the perimeter of the property. Just after daylight the woods lit up with gobbling, which was an excellent sign considering it was snow/raining on and off all morning. just after flydown the hens started to crank up,5 or 6 in all that started talking, Dan (mentor) tried getting under their skin, but they sounded as though they were going away from us. After an hour or so we spotted a black dot about 500 yards out slowly moving towards us,suddenly another black dot from the right comes running at the first one, he starts running in our direction, perfect! They closed the distance to around 150 yards and turned out to be a jake and mature gobbler, the jake split off and headed back to where they came from, the gobbler hung up on a fenceline to our left. He was being teased by hen calling from across the property line, so we stepped it up a notch and gobbled at him, that got him to gobble a response and he committed to coming in, flying across two drainage ditches in the process! When he closed to about 35 yards Austin our youth hunter was giving the green light and touched off the 3.5 Winchester load, the bird was in the air in blink of an eye,he had missed............................but was not dejected and kept a good natured attitude about the situation. We decided it best to do some scouting and checked out a few other properties, after walking a lot of land, we ended up back on the same farm he had set up on in the morning................at around 4:00 with the wind spitting snow on us, Austin peeked out the window of the blind and whispered 4 birds headed our way! Sure enough a hen , jake, and 2 gobblers were easing into our set up! I got the camera rolling and Austin took a bead on the lead bird, some soft yelping from Dan got the gobbler to stretch his head up and once again that day the 12 ga. roared only this time the bird flopped backwards and proceeded to do the death flop!!!!!!!!! Whoo hoo! Austin had finally killed his first gobbler and we captured it all on tape for him to re-live forever! I can't tell you how happy we all are for Austin and grateful to Tom's guns in Marshall for putting the hunt together, although the weather was less than perfect we had an excellent hunt! I look forward to going out again next year and hopefully having as much fun and success as we did this year. Austin with his hard earned gobbler Austin and mentor/guide Dan Stills from the footage seconds before the shot Doing the jelly head jig! The hen wouldn't leave! Congrats from mentor to hunter Heavy bird Austin? Thumbs up!
  14. It is my understanding that Mr. Keck was sucking the funding dry with his enormous salary......................That said he was a good front man, but the real work of the NWTF is done on the local level not by the CEO, Rob Keck is a very personable fellow but was his job worth over $300,000/year? I think the board made a good financial decision and I would not worry about Rob or his finacial status;)
  15. Under $2000 but HD and pro-sumer????????? Not likely, but you can get a number of HD consumer cams for less than $2k........If you do not need HD, check out the Canon GL2 or Sony VX2100............for alittle more $$$$$$ and alot more camera you can get a Panasonic DVX100b for less than $2500 and have excellent broadcast picture quality footage (the cam i use) or look to spend around $3400 for a quality HD camera such as the Canon XH A1 or over $4k for the Sony V1U..................whatever you go with, you want to look at optical zoom never digital.........easy of use of the manual controls and learn all of the camera's functions inside and out. Good luck.
  16. What's your price range? And do you want HD or SD?
  17. Looks like a great place for a bowhunt............do they have an open season there?
  18. If you want to kill a slob buck you need to know how to hunt his bedroom.....................This will probably be an all or nothing deal, but if done right it will payoff BIGTIME..........get out now and find his bedding areas and figure out which winds he will use that particular bed .......get right into his bed and look at the area"see what he sees".......then back out on his likely route just far enough so you are out of his line of sight, pick your tree. Plan your route in so you don't have to cross any trails to get to your tree and clear any lanes if need be..........On opening day next fall if the wind direction dictates he will use that bed, get in and hang your set in the early afternoon, it is likely he will be up and staging early in the day so get in before 1:00......you will be close so quiet is the key and wind direction is also key, he is gonna want a wind in his face once he's up and moving so when you pick your tree, make sure you are to the side of the trail far enough that he will not smell you before he passes by.........Like I said this will be a one or possibly two shot deal, after the third set up he will know you are hunting him, and bugger out, but you should only need one shot if you've done your homework;) If you want to kill big bucks you need to be aggressive or just plain lucky.
  19. I killed two does with them this year, here is a video clip of the first: THE OLD DOE Second doe The exit hole on the second doe:
  20. You need to render it in a wmv file that is less than 100megs. or break it into segments, then you can upload to youtube, so long as it is less than 10 mins. in length.
