  11. ...yeah, Orlan; -I kind of tried the "cold turkey"approach, instead of taking the birth control patch....didn't work so good...-lol- (sorry- couldn't resist-) ...as far as quitting smoking....if the patch works for you,Wooly- I think that's fantastic! -I admire anyone who takes the initiative to quit... (I think smoking is nasty)

  18. .....what's wrong with hunting with no clothes?? -just kidding..... -I wore military surplus for years...-until I gradually bought hunting attire, piece by piece.....maybe you can find military surplus for your small size- ...I still don't seem to match, though... -looking forward to following your hunt, when it gets here
  19. ...John, sorry to hear that... -I know how you feel...-I put in for ten years with never drawing anything....-but, for some reason,I drew last year- and then again this year;next year could be your year! -you might as well come up to Alaska to hunt this Aug.
  20. ...-lol- you crack me up, Steve... -and yes, I will have to agree with Gary and Buckee... -the spruce, alder, aspen growth lining the trail makes the size of this moose deceiving... -also, just his body in relation to the rack makes me think he isn't as huge as it appears- -also, at least up here...-a lot of bull moose, as they mature and age past 5 or 6, sport a shorter bell, or dewlap... that is one long bell, though!- -I would definitely take this moose, if he were in an "any bull" area, ...and if all other legalities (and ethical calls)were considered first - I would'nt take him on that nice bike path, though...-would be legal here,but- not worth causing an uproar with the hikers/bikers etc. that would happen-chance upon the butchering session/gut pile (also, lingering bear attractant-) -If he were an area with a brow tine restriction (like here, in unit 7-KirkV and Catrina.....-we'll have plenty of time to go over that before this Aug.-), I would definitely hold off from taking a shot at that moose, to count brow tine.....to avoid a mistake by estimating that he possessed a rack of 50 inches or greater...(min. here, and in many Alaska GMU's...-unless min.number of brow tines on one side are met...) -this moose is a magnificent animal!.....he would provide such an abundance of meat that I would be tickled to death to harvest every morsel of- -I am very excited to see this thread, and the pictures.... ...I'm just very hesitant to say whether he is carrying a super-large rack....it just doesn't seem like it to me... -also, I thought kind of similiar as JimT...-seems like the photographer(or, more likely trail cam?)...is close to the ground- -again...-definitely not knocking, or trying to criticize this moose...-was a treat to see....!-my kids enjoyed it,too- -I always find it fun, and good practice, to try and guess sizes within different species-caused my brain to kick in gear and think moose!-thankyou, Bigmoss:)
  21. ...I've heard of them...-never seen one, or even a picture of one... -great pictures! -I wonder if they have an advantage over predators in the snow... -and, hey , Shaun...-that would be neat to get to see a pic of that one moose you were talking about when it is mounted, whenever you're able to get to see it...
