  1. Thats why I always vote Republican. :gun2:
  2. Now thats funny. :gun2:
  3. You don't really want me to post the answer here on the open forum do you. :gun2:
  4. The arguement is you are giving advice on something you obviously know nothing about. Did you watch the video you linked too. The gun smith in the video starts out by saying first buy a BDL aftermarket stock. These prices start at about $200.00 for a good one. Now add the cost of the converstion kit $70.00 by your estimation. You have now increased the cost of the gun by at least $270.00. The whole point is if you want a floor plate, piecing it together after you have already bought an ADL will either require a lot of skilled labor or a significant out lay of cash. I do agree that both the ADL and BDL preform nearly identically. They are both quality rifles and anyone would do well purchasing either one. Finally here is a photo of a box for a 700 BDL stainless steel synthetic stock, so please stop saying they all come with wood. In the future you might want to stick to advise about bow hunting and leave the rifle advice to people who know what they are talking about. Finally, so you don't think I am not talking from experience this is a list of Remington 700's I currently own. 3 BDL's Wood stock 2 ADL' Wood stock 1 BDL Stainless steel synthetic stock 2 Limited edition classics 1 CDL
  5. The term minor inletting is relative. Plus with this particular kit they are referring to a stock that is already cut for a floorplate. For an ADL it is minor compared to repairing the space shuttle. I assure you though, the job is way beyond the skills of the average joe. Plus by saying the BDL only comes in wood you are starting to split straws. If you mean a 700 with a floorplate then several models fall into this catagory. The BDL, CDL, SPS, XCR and others. If you restrict the conversation to strictly 700 BDL then yes they are all wood. :gun2:
  6. If you have a good gunsmith in the area let him try to work the factory trigger over first. It is much less expensive than buying a new one and if your smith knows what he is doing 99% of the time you will be happy with the results. :gun2:
  7. You are partly right but partly wrong. The adl and the bdl are the same gun except for the stock. However, you can't just bolt a floor plate onto an adl and make it a bdl. The stock will require extensive modification to make the floor plate fit. The Adl has a reinforced screw guide for the front action screw that needs to be removed before the floor plate can be installed. It is a lot of delicate work and you are better off just buying a bdl stock. If you choose this route you might just as well but the BDL to start with. :gun2:
  8. I use one but I would only use 100 gr Nosler Partion bullets or some other controlled expansion bullet. I have know Core Locts to blow up on our big Wisconsin Deer if you happen to hit a big bone. :gun2:
  9. That is great. Where can I buy one for my wife. :gun2:
  10. Congrats on the new rifle. It's always interesting to see custom rifles. Yours looks like a great one. Before you shoot it, I would have some one hit you with a baseball bat in the shoulder. That should get you used to the recoil. :gun2:
  11. 1 Yes I start out sighting dead on at 25 yards. 2 I then move to 100 yards and sight dead on there. Unless I will be hunting somewhere that shots could be longer than 175 yds. 3. I set the scope at the highest setting. In most cases that is 9 power. The reason for this is that if you are dead on at long range as you dial down for closer range, any variation will be minimized by the closer range. :gun2:
  12. I have been in your shoes so many times I have lost count. There are so many people out there in the hunting community that only care about themselves. I know of a few on here, that will remain nameless, that talk a great game. However when the rubber hits the road all they care about is which way they are going. I think it may be that men that participate in our sport usually have an over abundance of Testoterone. Don't get me wrong their are many good people that hunt. But in my opinion there are many more selfish SOB's. That is why I pretty much hunt alone now. I'm sure those of you that know who I am talking about will be the loudest to critize me. :gun2:
  13. You are 100% right. I would miss my own wedding for opening day of rifle season. If you girlfriend can't understand that then you should dump her. :gun2:
  14. :gun2:Yep I believe in the moon phases.
  15. Hunting with my Remington 700, in 270 is my favorite, but I hunt with everything. I want to try to hunt Wild boar with a spear someday. :gun2:
  16. It was 1975, I was 18 years old, it was my fourth year hunting. I was sitting in a tree stand which was a bunch of 2 X 4's nailed to a tree. (It was public land so this was illegal, but I was so dumb I didn't know that.) About 30 minutes before sun down I hear something walking up from behind me. At first I was mad cause I thought it was another hunter. Then a doe stepped out of the underbrush and walked right past me. I thought crap just a doe. Then out of no where a buck appeared. His nose was down and he was following the doe.I slowly rose my rifle and shot him. He was a 130 class. I didn't have a job and my dad was too cheap to pay for a head mount so I just screwed the antlers onto a board. I still have them and I always saw I'm going to get a cape and have a head mount made. Still haven't done it. :gun2:
  17. Today is not the time to be moving or putting up new stands. Stay where you are. :gun2:
