  1. I also shot a deer in the front shoulder blade and it blew right thru it and was sticking out of the ground on the other side (with the 3 blades). It makes a big difference where you hit them in the shoulder. If you hit them high in the shoulder there is a better chance it will penetrate farther; this is a much softer and thinner part of the bone. Hitting them lower in the blade and you risk hitting the "ridge" that is on the blade. If you hit this chances are it won't matter what broadhead you are using. You're probably not going to get much penetration.
  2. Try several brands and pick the one that is the most accurate for your setup. What's good for someone else may not work at all for you. The most important thing is accuracy; if you put the arrow where it needs to be it shouldn't matter what type of broadhead you're using. As long as they are sharp; I will only shoot a broadhead once; after that it goes in the trash or I buy replacement blades (with the exception of my practice broadheads)
  3. I'm not a big fan of them; I shot them for 3 seasons and took 4 or 5 deer with them. The were very accurate just like my field tips but I was having issues with penetration. The last two deer I shot were both about 15 yards away broadside and the arrow barely made it out the other side. Both deer were shot right thru the ribs; I'm pulling 70lbs and I've never had an issue with any other type of broadhead at this range. I think they lose too much of their energy when the blades open. After that I switched to the rage and so far they have been excellent. I don't have plans to switch to anything else. The most important thing is accuracy; if they are shooting good for you then you should give them a try.
  4. I would say 5.5; he will go mid 150's easily, probably closer to 160. look at the tine length on the G2's!! Nice deer
  5. Here's the hit list for the upcoming bow season. #1. The tall 10; he has 6 on his left side and 4 on the right. This is the second year I've seen this deer. Last year he was a tall seven point. I like the split brow tine. #2. The wide 8; I've been watching this deer for the past 2 years. Judging by his body size I would have to say he his definetely 4 1/2. He is nice and wide but he just doesn't have much for tine length. He actually looked very similiar to this last year so I really don't think he will get much bigger. #3. Still not sure if I would shoot this one; he's pretty nice but I think he is only 2 1/2. He would be a nice one to let walk and pass his genes on. I guess I'll decide when/if the moment comes. Any thoughts?? Here's another of the tall 10. The wide 8:
  6. He's going to be really nice in a few years. He looks pretty young for the size of his antlers
  7. Nice looking deer. Good luck with them this fall
  8. Those are some nice looking deer; looks like a lot of them have plenty of potential for the upcoming seasons. Good luck with the wide 8.
  9. Here are a few pics I got of the wide 8 this weekend. I've been watching this deer for the past 2 years with my camera but have still been unable to spot him while out hunting. He looked very similar to this last year only not as tall. Hopefully he'll stick around until October 1st. The last picture is of another 8 which I just noticed this year. You can definetely tell that they have similar genes. I think the wide 8 is a 3 year old and the smaller one is a 2 year old.
  10. I guess I'll give it a try. Thanks for the help
  11. We have approximately one acre of clover and chicory which will need to be mowed shortly. We will be using a pull behind mower which is adjustable up to around 4". Is this too low to mow the clover and chicory? We have been trying to find larger size tires to put on the mower to raise it up to 6 inches or so but have been unsuccessful. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  12. I don't like a shot with that much angle; but if I did it I would choose second yellow from the left
  13. Being that close he won't have much time to duck the arrow; I'd say yellow 3
  14. Wait until he turns his head and then 2nd or 3rd yellow.
  15. I think they are only making these threats to scare people and to make them look strong by standing up to the US. They have nothing to gain by launching a nuclear missile; it will make the world realize that now is the time to put an end to this country
  16. I haven't used the wintergreens but their clover and chickory are awesome; I'm hoping to get some more area cleared and put in wintergreens for next season; I have only heard good things about it.
  17. That's looks nice. 2 more years and I should have enough points to get my license
  18. I agree..never seen one that big before.Hopefully she sticks around and you can see the outcome

    Real or fake?

    There's no way that's real
  20. I also used to use the spitfires and I thought they were great until my brother had me try to rage 3 blade. Ever since I shot my first deer with them I have been amazed; I don't think I'll ever try another brand. I've shot 5 deer to date with them and have not been disappointed.
  21. I agree; not sure where his tail went??
  22. I agree; I love to hunt turkey and small game, but every deer is a little different which I think is why I like it so much. There is no other place I would rather be than in my treestand with my bow around the first or second week of November.
