Saw 6, a few yearling bucks in the group. No shots on the 1 big doe in the group.

Went out this morning, saw 6, had 3 of them run right under me but offer no good shots. I did not want to blow my stand opening morning trying to get a doe to turn.

Hospitals are cutting everywhere because Medicare is about to cut payments a lot over the next few years....thanks healthcare reform! It will cost most places since a large percent of patients are usually medicare and i believe the cut is as much as 25% in some cases.

The rain is SUPPOSED to hold out until the afternoon, which mine is booked with the nephews birthday party. I will be out at sunrise to see what i see. Good luck to those of you who will be in the field!

i was just looking at the weather and they are showing rain here for saturday and storms possible on sunday. I NEED TO GET TO THE WOODS before i explode!

I have a few things coming up but i will be doing some evening hunts this year and i will stretch it out to the end of the line if need be. I will hunt all of the way to february if i have to. Last year I shot a doe early in october and a buck during ohio gun season.

When i was about 13 i was sitting on the TSS platform drinking a coca cola and eating a granola bar thinking no more deer were coming. While climbing up a small 9 point with a funny looking rack was watching me and ran off. 30 minutes later he came back. I sat down my coke and shoved the granola bar in my mouth and shot him with my crossbow. Hung it back up and went back to drinking my coke. That was the first deer I shot by myself.

haha baker tree stands. When i first started hunting my dad had an old baker. I started out with a (I think it was) TSS. It was merely a wood platform similar to the baker. what a joy to use but i shot deer out of it just the same! Looking back i am surprised i never fell out of it. I was only 12 or 13 and i used to fall asleep sitting on it.

I hunt with my muzzleloader and am thinking about a new gun next year. I was going to buy a shotgun but may go for a handgun since my muzzleloader will handle anything out to 150 yards.

That is what I limit myselft to with my crossbow is abou 30 yards unless the conditions are perfect for 40 but no more. I plan to do some shooting next weekend. Good luck this season!

That deer knows he is safe. He has access to tons of food and plenty of places to hide right in the open.
