I have been hunting hard the past 4 days during the last Firearm season in Illinois. About 6-7 inches of snow on the ground and really cold. Thought the deer would surly be moving. Thought it was going to be a PERFECT weekend for deer movement. Got out there Friday evening snowing like crazy! Saw a few does but not in range to shoot. Saturday's hunt was awful for movement. Didn't see a single deer. I Was about to give up and not even go out Sunday. But I got my stuff together and was going to sit for the last evening of the firearm season. Got there about 2:30. Came about 4 or so, Still haven't seen a single deer. About 4:40 rolls around and I look to my right...And there he stood. Was fixing to hop the fence. So I got the gun up and waited for him to hop the fence. Soon as he did, BOOM! The rest is history. Ran about 80 yards and laid down.
Me and a couple buddies measured his neck at the head and it was 22 inches! He was a good sized deer for sure! I COULD NOT be any happier!! Here are a few pictures of the beast!
