  1. Yes, I have to take care of a REAL farm while everyone else is gone to shows. Making sure the water isn't froze, taking an axe and breaking the water in the creek when it freezes overnight, shoveling cow manure every day, feeding grain to our goats and driving the 4 wheeler around the field making sure no cow is having a baby in the freezing cold. i have to do it for real not interested in playing Farmer. i hate doing the real thing! It is a job that is never finished! But I do know that some like this game. I guess I am too old to be a gamer!!
  2. Shaun, Please give our families sympathy to his family. It has been almost 20 years (May 10,1990) since we lost our son David at age 19 to a terrible car accident. It is something you never forget. The first year is total numbness, shock and questioning God a lot. It will take them many years to be normal again. It is a pain that never goes away. God be with them please. The Oitker Family
  3. I do not know anything at all about Farmville but I was reading some news today and came across this info. I know I have seen many on here discuss this so I hope that it helps anyone who does this stuff! I do well to make a post on this forum without any help! Farmville Secrets by Mike Smith Buzz up! February 18 4:01 P.M. With almost 80 million users, Farmville's by far the biggest game on Facebook. But how can you get ahead of your friends? We've done the math: follow these tips, and you'll be raking in the (pretend) money in no time. Easy as 1, 2, 3 When choosing which crop to buy, unleash your inner capitalist and focus on profitability. Here's how to figure it out: take the cost of the seeds, add the charge for ploughing a plot -- which is 15 coins -- and there's your cost. Subtract that from the price your crop fetches when you sell it to get your profit. Divide the profit by the number of hours the crop takes to mature, and you'll have a measure of the profitability of one plot of that particular product. Take strawberries. At four hours, they're one of the fastest beginner crops to mature, and at just 10 coins, one of the cheapest to plant. 10 coins per plot, plus a 15 coin ploughing fee makes a total cost of 25 coins. They sell for 35 coins, so you make a 10 coin profit. Divide that by the four hours they take to mature, and you'll arrive at the profitability: 2.5 coins per hour per plot. Sound good? Actually, no, not really, although it's far from the worst. Blueberries, unlocked at level 17, are a much better four-hour crop, with a profitability of 6.5 -- but hold out until level 20, and you'll unlock tomatoes, which are a top performer at a little over 14 coins per hour per plot. Are You Experienced? It's not quite that simple, though. You've got to get some experience behind you in order to unlock the better crops, and the best way to do that is with quick-turnover crops, because no matter whether the crop gives you one, two, or three (or zero) experience points, you always get an extra one for ploughing the plot. Plough more often, and you'll level up more often. Hint: if you really want to level up quickly, buy a bunch of hay bales at five XP a shot. Ain't No Sunshine Just how long can you leave your crops until they wither away and destroy your investment? Exactly the same amount of time as they take to mature. So a tomato plot (an eight-hour crop) can be left safely for another eight hours after it matures. Once that time's up, the crop will start to wither, but it won't all wither at once: it'll take another half of the maturation period before the whole crop is lost. So if you plant tomatoes at 8 AM, they'll mature at 2 PM, begin to spoil at 10 PM, and be a total loss by 2 AM. Don't Fence Me In Actually, being fenced in is (surprisingly) not a bad idea at all. When you plant a plot, harvest a crop, or do just about anything else, you have to wait for your farmer to find his (or her) way across your farm to the right location. If you fence in the square where your farmer starts when you load the game, he'll be stuck -- and your actions will happen immediately, without needing to wait around. Ain't Gonna Work on Maggie's Farm No More Want to really get ahead? Get some neighbors. You'll earn cash and experience for doing tasks, you'll get bonuses every time they earn a ribbon, and if you're nice to them, they might even send you gifts. There's really no reason not to buddy up with a few other farmers. Won't Get Fooled (Again) Get 40 of your friends to join this group, and you'll get the ZOMG NUCLEAR FUSION NITROTRACTOR! Buy this "book" for $30 and you'll find out all the TOP FARMVILLE CHEATS! Become a fan of this page and you'll get INFINITE MONEY! Uh, no, you won't. You'll waste your money, your time, and the goodwill of your friends -- and the last thing you want is to be That Guy (or Gal) who's constantly hassling their friends to join scammy Farmville groups.
  4. Scott, I would recommend anything by Sony. We have had many video cameras over the last 18 years and Sony is the best. We have a Canon HD professional camera that we are not happy with. We have an old consumer Hi-8 Sony that has never failed us, been dropped from a treestand and still works great! All of my daughters growing up years were filmed with it and they turned out great! We also have a professional studio Sony camera that is far better than our Canon XH-A1! Sony has many new models to choose from check out their website and then go to BHphotovideo.com and check prices and sometimes Best Buy has great deals on them too. Good Luck and Congrats!
  5. I wish Jason Luck, Joe!! That would make him a great pair of boots and a hatband for your cowboy hat!
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSS!!:happybday::happybday: Your Birthday is very close to Randy's, his is March 2! Have a great day!
  7. The bowcases made it there with them. Randy's Aunt flew over to be with them from DC and she called me and said that as soon as Randy arrived at the hotel, they took him for an interview and dad and Tiffany ran up to the room changed clothes, Randy never had a chance to even change clothes after all of that air time including delays, and they all had to go on to the studio to rehearse! They said on the 8 and 1/2 hour flight over to Italy the plane was so cold they felt like they were freezing! I hope that they give him something to eat! He is still fighting with the sinus infection also. He still is coughing quite a bit. He is still taking the antibiotic though.
  8. Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes! Randy just called and they were getting off of the plane!
  9. Mike, Randy is flying on US airways. Everyone is on the plane and hot from running to get to the right terminal in 15 min. Now the wait begins! I just checked us air website and they took off at 6:19 pm. I can feel the gray hairs popping up as my nerves are fraying!!
  10. Good Luck tomorrow Ruth. i would just wear a nice pair of dress pants and a sweater or a collared shirt.I would also take the scrubs just in case. You want to show them that you are ready for sure!!
  11. Randy had a hour and a half delay in Chicago because of heavy rain in PA. He has just landed in PA. and has 15 min. to get from one end of the terminal to the other! They are walking very fast. He just hopes that his 3 bowcases arrive when he does!! Keeping my fingers crossed until they land safely in Italy. As soon as he lands in Italy he has an interview, a reception party and then off to studio for rehearsal! The studio said the promise me he will get some rest soon. I hope that he sleeps some on the 8 and a half hour flight!
  12. Happy Birthday Jacob!:happybday: Looks like a nice young man and a good shot too!
  13. Guinness Records is paying to send my whole family to Italy for Randy to perform for a new Guinness TV show. It is called Lo Show dei Records! They are furnishing everything including a driver, translator and making him some custom clothes and paying him too!He will rehearse for 2 days and film on Friday. There is an 8 hour time difference, so it will be fun but Randy is used to being up all night during show season! I have to stay home and take care of the cows and make sure the farm is running smoothly! My husband is Randy's assistant and setup person so he has to go and my daughter who is 15 wanted to go also. So, i told them to pay for it all or no Randy! They all are going!:camera: Thanks for all of the prayers because I will be on pins and needles until they are safely in Italy!
  14. Congratulations Christina!! Your parents must be very proud! I know everyone on the forums is happy for you!
  15. Orlan, Trust me if there was a way for him to have driven there he would have. He hates flying and loves driving. It is only 4855 miles away. If they just had a bridge over that big pond!! He always tells people what his grandfather said about flying, "If you are in a car and it quits, there you are. If you are in a plane and it quits there you ain't!!" As soon as he gets home , he has to leave for a show in Erie,PA.March 5-7!
  16. Randy left a couple of hours ago for the Chicago airport.(a 5 hour drive from our house). He will leave Chicago at 2pm and then stop in Philadelphia and then off to Rome,Italy at 7:25pm. He will arrive in Rome on Feb. 24 at 8:55am. A few prayers for a safe trip would be appreciated. My whole family will be on the plane with Randy. i am a little nervous. Thanks, Darla
  17. Sorry to hear about your grandma Kyle. Prayers for your family.
  18. I have a friend who lives there and she says the crime rate is very high. Lock your doors for sure and watch out for the homeless on every corner or illegal aliens. Both are very plentiful there. She said they pass out orange vests for the homeless to wear so your don't hit them. The saguaro cactus are a site in themselves. Enjoy your trip and be safe!
  19. Ross, That is a beautiful knife and something i think she will cherish forever. A great gift from dad!! You do such artistic work and have a great talent! Congrats to your daughter and new son-in-law also! Darla
  20. Since it is that time of year I thought I would post this classic LENT joke. Bubba Was Born a Baptist Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and cook a venison steak. But, all of Bubba's neighbors were Catholic........and since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on Friday. The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their priest. The Priest came to visit Bubba, and suggested that he become a Catholic. After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass........and as the priest sprinkled holy water over him, he said, "You were born a Baptist, and raised a Baptist, but now you are a Catholic." Bubba's neighbors were greatly relieved until Friday night arrived, and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood. The Priest was called immediately by the neighbors, and, as he rushed into Bubba's yard clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and watched in amazement. There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted: "You wuz born a deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you is a catfish." Another favorite catholic joke is this one: Little Zachary was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything... Tutors, Mentors, flash cards, Special learning centers. In short, everything they could think of to help his math. Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him in the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother Hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner. To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word, and in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference. Finally, little Zachary brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, his Mom looked at it and to her great surprise, Little Zachary got an "A" in math. She could no longer hold her curiosity. She went to his room and said, "Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?" Little Zachary looked at her and Shook his head, no. "Well, then," she replied, Was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the Uniforms? "WHAT WAS IT ALREADY?" Little Zachary looked at her and said, "Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around."
  21. So true Tim! LOL But, I bet that there was some steak on their plates with fried shrimp! That is their favorite at Red Lobster!
  22. I just received news from the show promoters that Randy has packed the bleachers on a Friday afternoon. They said that had not been done before. They say Fridays are usually slow! I don't know how the guys do it either!
  23. Steve, Randy had to go right back to the show. He has shows today at noon, 2pm and 5pm. He has to stay at the show until closing at 8pm. He has not ate anything since yesterday. Randy never eats at a show, he waits until it is over and then goes to a steakhouse.
  24. Congratulations Ruth form our whole family! We knew that you would get a good job that you wanted soon!
  25. Just talked with Randy , he was entering the high school in Bridgewater,VA. to give a speech to the archery class who participates in the archery in the school program. He had one hour of sleep all night but he is going strong. At least his nose quit running. He is taking the antibiotic levaquin ( 10 pills cost $175.38) It should work for that amount! He gets this every year after Harrisburg because of the high concentration of dirt from the farm show the week before. Joe, It will mean a lot to Randy to get to meet you. I hope that you can make it to the Hamburg,NY. show and Ruth also. Thanks everyone for being a good friend of our family.
