Have not looked at ammo availability on anything in a while Don. As for performance and old calibers it doesn't come close to a 17 rem, but good luck finding ammo for that one no doubt. Never owned a 5 mag, no clue how available it is, but I'd guess this new round will be a lot more available soon.

Yeah I wonder about the yote factor too William, and I need another rifle I don't shoot like a hole in my head. I once wanted a 22 mag, but after a box of rounds went through it I never shot it again, lol. But still you can't own TOO many guns!

I'm thinking you seriously need to re-evaluate this "friendship". It has nothing to do with you being selfish over a stupid deer, it could have just as well been over anything else. He had no right to invite another person without consulting you, the other guy dang sure had no right to assume he could hunt your stand, much less take it over. Yeah, you'll get as many opinions on a mechanical as there are people you ask. No doubt they fly better and no doubt they're proven killers. Good luck no matter what you go with. Folks love their mechanicals until they feel they lose one because of them lol.

Welcome to the forums. I haven't personally shoot them but my best friend had and I've tracked some of his deer with t3 holes in them and I'll say they do a lot of damage. I never liked the clips personally on them. He quit shooting them the next year. Like any Mech bh, I think the shot angle plays a role in how they deploy. That's just my 2 cents, I'm sure they'll perform for you, they all do to some degree and G5 makes quality products.

Practice from a sitting position, I prefer standing but shoot a lot of times while sitting.
