  4. Thanks again guys. No doubt Joe.....I'm flattered. Almost enough to make a fella feel like one of the 'MORONS' that posted here. I'm not worthy yet....:disolve:
  5. LMBO buckee, I hear those little buggers can wipe out an entire whitetail heard if you don't keep them in check!:pacman:
  6. Good clear pic and good looker for next season. Looks like he's still on the trail of something.
  7. Thanks all. Got out for my daily morning walk in the woods to wind down from the holiday this morning. Rest of the weekend will be spent playing with the kiddos. Been a good week to be me.
  8. Great late season hunt, congrats. Especially sweet when you can find a little time for yourself to slip out between the hectic holiday festivities, and the mrs' work schedule. Good time management right there.
  9. :happybday: Breylen... Congrats Mom and Dad:)
  10. Pretty self explanatory. My tips were twisted pretty bad where the string was jumping out of the pocket. Go at it a little at a time and be sure to let it heat up and cool down completely before thinking the problem is solved. link- http://analogperiphery.blogspot.com/2007/03/fixing-twisted-recurve-limb.html
  11. You can correct the problem with heat, pressure and moisture.(or at least get it unoticeably close) I did this with a '53 Bear recurve that got pretty bad from being left strung for years. As far as will accuracy suffer? Simply Yes. You bow will not shoot to its potential when it come to penetration either as your limbs will waste, or lack the stored energy to launch an arrow propperly from the rest. If you've got a little time you can do it yourself with hardly any work involved in the staightening process other than waiting and patience. I've got some pics from when I did mine along with a link here somewhere I'll dig up for ya soon as I get a chance.
  12. Merrry Christmas to all. God bless.

  17. Hmmmm....never found a stinky shed unless it was still attached to a carcass. That one looks like it's been airing out for a while now.
  18. Wishing you the best.:robot:
  19. Funny you mention it Dave. We were just talking about maybe hitting Small Boat Harbor for some ringbacks if we get a good coldspell. I haven't been out on the ice in close to 5 years now.
  20. Thanks guys. I'm glad it's over. This processing's got me broke. Least I got plenty of eats and some great hunts to remember.
  21. WTG Scott, that's a good one! You guys hunt some of the toughest deer I ever heard of, lol. Glad you got her bud. Way to read the sign, no telling how far she would have made it with that first shot alone. Glad you didn't have to find out. Congrats on your first smoker!
  22. Well I thought season was over after the last doe but I guess not. Here's #2 for the late season with the ML I took today about 1/2 hr before dark. I sat a well used trail heading to the big stand of pines they like to bed in. She came in like a ghost and just appeared before my eyes. Kept hearing some crunching in the snow but couldn't pinpoint the source. She stepped up out of a little gully and on to the trail where I shouldered the ML and drilled her. She dropped on the spot but was still very alive. The shot hit high just above the lungs. She was craning her head bellowing so I hurried to load another round. At this point she mustered enough in her to roll down the gully and get stuck in the mud at the bottom. I don't think she was going anywhere at that point but her head was still up so I put another one right behind her shoulder from top of the hill. I am done now and can say that this has been one helluva a season for me with 4 down. What great memmories I made out there all by my lonesome. Amazing how nature can bring such a sence of peacefullness and complacency with nothing else around. Most folks would be bored out of there minds after the first few hours of season. After 3 straight months of being out there every day...I wouldn't trade a minute of it for the world. Late ML season ends here tomorrow. Next up shed season!
  23. I've always thought if I were gonna get into AR'S I would try to imply a slot limit that kept everyone happy. Not exactly sure how that would be set up but I would think we'd see alot more bucks blossom into some decent 3 1/2-4 yo's. Might start with basket 6's and 8's with 10" spread and less getting the pass. That would weed out alot of the 2 1/2 and 1 1/2yo with potential from being killed. Anyhow, like has been said anything you do is a start and can't hurt the heard none. Maybe everyone will not be on board right from beginning and some mistakes will be made, but it's gotta start somewhere as you have done already. Sitting out a season sounds a little extreme to me but they're your rules to enforce. Maybe a season of doe only harvest for starters. Just a thought.
  24. Great job on the shed and pics Dave. I was hoping you'd get your hands on that thing before another blanket of the white stuff covered her up till spring. Good luck finding the match when it falls!
